Our stay at the san agustin was marred by 2 separate groups, both way too loud. Group 1 was a slew of school kids who violated the 9 pm noise curfew posted for all guests to see. Management was not at all concerned. Group 2 moved in as the kiddies went home. This group had the function hall rented. The function hall is in a central courtyard, surrounded by the rooms. It is partially roofed in like a gazebo, somewhat containing the noise. I do not think an ounce of thought for peace and quiet was ever considered when this event area was established. Also this group stayed at the hotel, and they left the next day with communal shouts across the hallways at a very early hour. There seemed to be a whole lot of coordination that needed taken care of before they could all leave in unison on the bus together. Management did not seem concerned that other guests not part of this exodus may still be sleeping at 6«30 in the morning, and had no problem with conversations being carried on across the whole length of the establishment. Because of these groups we thought that would explain the lack of hot water, but in 3 days we never had a decent shower, although 24 hour hot water was advertised in the lobby. There were quiet times when the groups were gone, but the hot water never showed up. The breakfast was a nice touch, but the quality of it made us ask why the hotel would bother. In Mexico you can buy pre toasted bread that is very crisp and dry. We were given 2 slices each, and coffee. Sometimes we were given orange flavored drink with it. The pre toasted bread was the only solid thing to eat, and 2 slices of it with butter and jam lead me to believe the extra cost added for the grub really goes to cover the wages of the uniformed staff that opened the package of bread and served it in a fancy bowl. The whole thing was quite funny, like it was a joke or something. If management reads this, please discontinue promising guests this idea you have of breakfast. The room was clean, and staff was friendly. The cable package was poor, as was the internet signal. In the past 9 months we have had some stellar places for over 100 pesos less than the 260 pesos we paid for our matrimonial bed. It is a good deal to get a simple room in a 3 star joint for that price, but one would expect hot water, management to insist on mature guests, and breakfast that consists of something other than instant toast. That sounds more like a 1 or 2 star place.
