I stayed in the hotel part. The rooms were clean and welcoming. What made a special experience was the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of the way to help you! Totally enjoyed my stay!

Rented a Suite for two nights air conditioner wasn't working so the boss bought a portable one that was so loud we still couldn't get any sleep. The fridge also wasn't working and only found out after we went and bought some food and had nowhere to put it. He offered to give us some money back but one month later they are refusing to take our call.

We stayed one night and wish we could have stayed longer. Fantastic location, 3 minute walk to the funicular to the train, can walk anywhere from this hotel. Front desk was helpful. Check in/out process was easy and quick. Comfortable bed. As an aside, many hotels in Europe don’t have AC. I don’t know why these other reviewers expect things to be the same as in America when traveling outside America. Plan appropriately.

Great hotel, close to the lake and all restaurants/shops. Rooms are basic but clean.

Hotel's location is great. But NO AC, when we were there a couple of days ago, room temperature was over 90, miserable night. Room decor is very poor, not as pictured on the website . Bath towel still has tag on, un-washed. For over $200 a night.

The hotel have been chosen due to its price and location. The price is about 160€ per night including city tax. The location is very useful. I would also mention very decent breakfast with orange juice, yogurt accompanied by modern coffee-machine. |There’s a really big TV in the room with Netflix. Wi-Fi is well working.|But unfortunately that all about the advantages.|Further is more about the disadvantages..|The hotel definitely needs a serious renovation. |I have never seen a ventilator operated by RC. The ventilator can suddenly switch on the light in the middle of the night.|Mattress is extremely soft. It’s recommended to change.|I’ve found the mold on the ceiling on the bathroom up to my surprise. See fotos.|Extremely noisy. A lot of noise comes from the pedestrian street as well as from the maid.|I wouldn’t recommend this property for relax staying.

Hotel is nicely appointed and has a great location. However, our room did not have working air conditioning the entire time and our hot water stopped working on the last day. Our room stayed around 25-26 degrees Celsius (78ish F) during the evening which made it difficult to sleep. Additionally, WiFi was either not working or unusably slow and the soap bottles were filled with hand lotion. I tried to address the air and hot water with the front desk and they told me to send them an email in which no one replied. I rarely write reviews but this is well deserved.

Rooms were a bit small and cheap. The bathrooms were very bad, the bathroom door was hard to close, there were ugly blue tiles on the bathroom wall, the shower was very small, the drain was very slow, the shower head was broken, the soap is cheap, there was mold on the ceiling, dirty sink and toilet, cheap finishes etc. The elevator was also very small, could fit maybe 3 or 4 people, so we just decided to use the stairs. Also extremely loud and wifi kept shutting down. I'm happy we only stayed one night because this would've been hell if we stayed for more than a night. At least the staff was kind and the food was ok.

Yelp
I don't usually write negative reviews, but this warrants one, We stayed at Hotel San Carlo for two nights (June 6-8). We came upon a guest @ around 7:00am in the lobby who was locked out of his room from 6;00am. He didn't have a phone and asked if we would call the Hotel contact number posted in the lobby for him. We called the number 5 times with no answer. At approximately 7:30am when the reception office opened we were able to get a hold of the gentleman who worked there. I explained that we had tried to get a hold of him 5 times and he said he was on call and didn't receive a call from us. so I called the number while he was there and it ring to his phone. This is unacceptable and poor service. the employee was rude and dismissive. On another note, we were told when we checked in that breakfast was between 7:30am-10:30am, we were told by another employee it started at 7:00am. When we checked out on Saturday to catch our train we waited for a while and then told that on Saturday it didn't start until 8:00am. Very poor communication.
