Perfect little stay for a night. Nothing fancy but nice interiors and great pool along with friendly staff. ||Well-located in regards to the airport and opposite a good running track and walking distance to zone 14 with great restaurants, particularly the precinct with Cafe Frieda’s and Buta Ramen House (amazing ramen and sushi!).

Our stay at Hotel San Carlos was phenomenal. Ernesto is the most accommodating host out there. He made sure that everything went smoothly starting from arranging drivers to Antigua/airport pick up and drop off, recommend excursions, and overall transparent. The premises are extremely tidy, the property outside is stunning, and there are many food options. Another perk is that you can check in at any point in the night. Absolutely coming back next time we are in Guatemala City!

The garden and entry of the hotel a very beautiful, specially at night. The Room was a surprising contrast, very basic, rural, not very clean bathroom. Windows were type of lamella with a tilt window that couldn’t be closed. So it was very loud. You could literally listen to every conversation in the garden, quite annoying if you are very jet lagged and want to sleep. We checked in at midnight and asked therefore to checkout 30 min later, to have a little more time. It was not possible. That was a first one. Room needs to be cleaned at 12. We checked out and seated in front of the room, but no one came to clean, ridiculous. Very unexpected service for this price range. Breakfast was good and breakfast service as well. Would recommend another option and will book another hotel on our trip back

What a lovely hotel. A group of us stayed at Hotel San Carlos two months ago for the night and it was beautiful!||The hotel's perfect location is an added benefit if you're flying into Guatemala City airport. Less than 15 minutes aways, Hotel San Carlos offers a unique stay in an elegant, historic, and charming building. The suite and rooms were spacious.||The hotel has impressive antique hat and art displays throughout that it almost feels as if you're in a museum. From the spiral staircase to every space in the hotel, you couldn't help but admire the antique paintings and richly gold decorated furniture.||Breakfast was delicious. They offered fruit salad, scrambled eggs, fried sweet plantains, bacon, coffee, hot chocolate, oatmeal, etc.|Overall, I loved this hotel. Customer service was excellent and everyone was attentive and friendly.

The only thing I can complain about is the breakfast, which doesn't match at all with the overall quality of the hotel. The coffee was almost cold, the cheese and the sausages were not good, only the pancakes were okay... But the buiding is very nice, the rooms are spaceous and the beds are very comfortable ! My advice : just improve your breakfast with qualitative products and it will be almost a 5/5.

The hotel is in a convenient location. Walking distance to zones 4,9, and in zone 10. Close to the US Embassy. The hotel is incredibly outdated, and the theme is like a bunch of thrift shop trinkets that don't match or even garage sale clutter. The rugs are old and dirty, so many different themes all over it all just clashes. It even smelled like an old thrift shop. The walls are super duper thin. Bathrooms are desperate for an update. There was a family in the top room next to us that was so noisy we couldn't rest the first night. Kids running nonstop up and down the stairs and through the hallway. It sounded like they were in our room. The view and windows were my favorite parts of the room, and the bed and pillows felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. The rooms are more like apartments, which was pretty cool. The gym is not a gym, just 3 pieces of exercise equipment. The pool is more like a fountain it's very small. We didn't eat in the hotel so I couldn't say anything about the food. However, they did offer welcome drinks and breakfast ( we did not partake). They wanted $50 US for shuttle service to the airport. The airport is about 15 minutes away and costs Q25, which equals about $4 if you take an Uber. Overall, it wasn't the worst it was just okay. I probably wouldn't stay here again. I would definitely visit Guatemala City again. However, next time, I'll stay in zones 9 or a little further down on the other side of zone 10 or 4. Still walking distance

I will start off by saying the positive, the staff in the restaurant are the absolute sweetest people and are the only reason I am giving this place more than 1 star. For $100 per night I expected a better hotel. The room was dirty and fixtures were broken. The windows in the front of the room were open and were unable to shut which made us feel slightly unsafe. The pillows were extremely lumpy almost like they were stuffed with squares of foam. The food in the hotel is a hit or miss, I fully believe they microwave the food because every time we ordered we would here the microwave beep and suddenly our food came out. I ordered steak my first night there and the smell made me so nauseous I couldn’t eat and my sons hamburger was raw, same with the chicken in his lunch that he had ordered. The nail in the coffin was check out where I was forced to pay AGAIN (although a difference) for my first meal there even though I had already paid in full. Essentially double charging me for a meal already paid. ||||The wifi in the building is HORRIBLE and will cut in and out, I had much better wifi in antigua in a eco hotel in the mountains. Reception is not good for phone calls either. Staff did not speak English as indicated which is fine for me since I do speak Spanish. Overall I cannot recommend this place and feel that it is FAR overpriced for what it gives.

I stayed here with a group starting a trip through Guatemala. San Carlos was a wonderful start to my first visit to this country.||||The hotel is very comfortable, and very elegant. The rooms are moderate in size by US standards, but very comfortable and very well appointed. Lots of closet space, very nice bathroom, and I didn't lose my sweetheart in a ridiculous king-size bed. The room was very quiet, as was the entire hotel.||||The breakfast (included in our package) was very good, and had lots of options. Infinite coffee was available. We didn't eat at Hotel San Carlos other than breakfast, but the dinner menu looked quite good.||||The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the US embassy, so if you have business there you're in a good spot. There are several restaurants nearby, including La Estancia - excellent!||||There is an inner courtyard in the hotel with umbrella'd tables around it, and a very nice bar area to lounge in. Wi-fi is good here.||||The staff was great. Very helpful, and forgiving towards my very limited Spanish. The staff is generally conversant with basic English, I was embarrassed that I didn't know more Spanish. The desk staff were fluent in English, and very very gracious and helpful.||||I wish I could have stayed here for a few nights and gotten to see more of G City. Hotel San Carlos is a gem of a spot - the staff, with the added bonus of architecture and atmosphere, made for a delightful one-night stay.
