Location and views - fabulous. The building, a former monastery, is historically very interesting with tunnel like corridors and fun semi-hidden function rooms and a former chapel for for those who are adventurous The garden on the 7th floor is lovely. Howver, on the whole, the establishment is in need of a refresh from lobby to rooftop, including the staff; definitely not worthy of its stars.||I traveled with a large group (we were a sizable client) so was able to see a few different rooms. All our rooms were supposed to have been of the same category. Some had wonderful views, terraces and balconies, new bathrooms - others had old, loud a/c units and bathrooms in dire need of renovation; my room, for which I paid extra because I was going to stay an additional night and did not want to have to change rooms, fell into the latter category. When we arrived en mass there was only one porter (who, I must add, was the most pleasant of the staff with whom I interacted). After retrieveing my own bags, I inquired if I might change rooms and I was told that it would be very difficult and could absolutely not be done that day. The next day, I was advised that a change of room would be "impossible." A word that no matter how impossible a situation, should not be employed by anyone in the hospitality business. On the day when most of my group departed I asked one last time if I might have a room with an updated bathroom and I was told, by the manager, that since I had been dissatisfied since the first day I arrived, why not one more night? You may find this hard to believe, but I'm not sure I could have made it up!||The breakfast buffet was a disappointment - uninspired and generally unappetizing - including the coffee. The service at breakfast and at the bar on the 7th floor was not particularly friendly or efficient.||All in all, it was an unfortunate way to end what was a wonderful trip to southern Italy.
