Hotel is in a very noisy position on some crossroads. Buildings are 6/7 stories high and all the noise travels upwards. There's a loose drain outside that goes clonk clonk every time a car goes over it, all day and all night virtually. Lift makes room walls vibrate, dog's barking echo as streets are very narrow, hostel near by that hoards of students go to, rather noisily returning at 2am. 're as Tarrant opposite sets its tables up outside at 7:30am without a thought to try and do it quietly. School nearby, can tell when it's playtime. Not the ideal position but a cheap hotel. ||The food is not the best, breakfast is boiled eggs, toast, rolls, croissants, cheese ham. ||Dinner in the evening is a disappointing affair. Salad bar consists of tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and either potato salad or rice. Main is fish or meat. Day 1 - chicken, chips and Brussels, no other choice. Day 2 pork chop, boiled potatoes, think they were green beans but we're a bit overcooked, no other choice, Day 3 stew, fried potatoes tinned mushrooms, no other choice, Day 4 burger, pasta (oil dressing with a few bits of green stuff), no veg. Day 5 you get the idea, Desserts are tinned fruit, balance or really badly decorated cake. Not a good place for children, I'm not a fussy eater but actually thought .. yuk. I can't believe the chef can watch the guests eat with a smile on his face. Most of the guests are in their 70's so I guess the slop that's served is easily chewed! I will definitely not return to this hotel. Maybe it's because it's a 2* but due to the noise and food it really doesn't warrant any praise.
