Hotel Sandpiper

We had a really bad experience here! It was late and we were searching for a campsite all along. Via the ioverlander app we found this place but apparently it is now private property as the owner yelled at us that we had to get off! No need to be so impolite and rude. We were just kindly asking...

YUM!!!||I did not stay at the Sandpiper Hotel but I sure enjoyed eating there. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served and I was fortunate to try all of them.! For breakfast my favorite thing (other than the view) was the beans! I don’t eat rice and Jorge cooked just beans for me which was very nice. Oh yeah, I had some eggs with the beans. There are a few breakfasts from which to chose. For lunch I chose the ceviche and the fish was very, very fresh and the ceviche flavor was just right. I had patacones with the ceviche. Since I love fish, I always chose whatever was the catch of the day and it was FRESH, prepared simply with seasonings and cooked to perfection. Did I mention the view?||Jorge is not only an excellent chef but has a charming personality that makes you feel very welcome in this quaint, seaside, local eatery where the sun, sand, waves and FOOD can’t help but improve your day.

We loved everything (except the horrible internet WiFi connection) about this place.||Beautiful architecture, big beautifully furnished rooms, big bathrooms, oceanfront views, pool, palapa, and restaurant. (The restaurant is not owned by the hotel.)||A delicious breakfast comes with the room.||We enjoyed watching the sunset right on the property then walking a few steps for a delicious dinner. I had a full red snapper and my friend had a shrimp quesadilla. Five circles!||This little place is a gem.

Maybe new ownership? Family hotel. Pet friendly, but also hotel dogs bark a lot. Lots of rules, which I was greeted with first thing. Water pressure is bad. Lost some of my laundry and charged $30 dollar for just one load. Cleanliness in general area is a priority, which guests must worry about. Good access to beach and surfing. Staff are ever present and watching you, playing bad music all day long. Should be a restful nice value place, but not friendly and not a place for young adventurous people. Good for children with nice, but small pool.

What a great little Costa Rican Hotel, and it's right on the beach in Hermosa. Tucked behind the Soccer Field where you can hear the teams playing at night, the Hotel sits on a nice piece of property with direct access to the Beach. Sunsets are amazing sitting in the Tiki Hut to protect you from the Sun or Rain. We went during the dry season and enjoyed staying the the upstairs room with a great view of the Beach. Yerlin the Owner is a lovely person and makes sure everything is right. Restaurant to prepare breakfast (included in room cost) or other meals if you like. The location is walkable to many other restaurants in the area like Vida Hermosa or Bowie's Point. We are making reservations for next year already.

Stayed here for a few nights with the family (2 teenagers), the location is amazing! My favorite was having morning coffee and breakfast on the beach cabana while watching surfers catch the 1st waves of the day. My kids enjoyed the games (ping pong, foosball, volley ball) and walking on the beach. The sunsets from this beach are the most majestic I've ever seen. The best dinner of the trip was from the hotel restaurant. My husband enjoyed being beach walking distance from the bars to watch the local surf competition. Yarlen and her staff were genuine, attentive and steered us in the right direction for activities and excursions. Can't wait to return.||Pura Vida!

I have returned for the second time to one of the loveliest places to stay in playa Hermosa near Jaco- I like it because its economical & also pet friendly. The staff are SO accommodating & lovely. The rooms are large, clean and comfy. The beach is to die for beautiful & I always get great rest & relax here! A must see, especially if you are on the way down to the southern areas of Costa Rica.

Avoid at all cost! Although the location is beautiful, there is a reason they have high end security cameras on every coroner of their property. Our group was robbed of $15,000 dollars of electronics while attending a wedding next door. They broke in through the bathroom window and used our own back backs to haul our items away. Do you think the owner took any responsibility or filed any insurance claims for us? Nope! She kept saying it is crazy that they broke in through the window instead through the front door. It was clear from the very first moment that she only cared about herself in this matter. Although an employee of hers was amazing and went above and beyond to help out, she disappeared and provided information only after being prompted by our group. The good news is the wedding was awesome and will be remember for a long time to come no thanks to this place.
