Beautifully remodeled and perfectly situated in the middle of State Street. Really lovely spot. |It was clean, ||We stayed in a queen room. It was also really nicely appointed, quiet, but a bit small for two adults and our 3 year old daughter (she slept in her SlumberPod). The rooms have a well stocked mini bar, snacks for purchase, and a hotel safe. ||They have a small gym but it was perfect for a quick workout. They also provide refillable water bottles in the room with a water refilling station per floor.||We look forward to another visit. The location is really hard to beat and the price, while not cheap, was pretty standard for Santa Barbara. The staff were also lovely, always friendly and happy to help.

Had a truly wonderful stay! Beautiful property from the lobby to the rooms. The stairs and the tiles used were beautiful too- free water (sparkling and still) by the ice box (bags of ice) which was a nice surprise. Stayed in a two queen room and it was perfect. Location is great- right on State st. The only thing I wished for was a faster elevator but everything else was tastefully done and great- highly recommend!!

Stayed here for a short weekend getaway - never stayed here but will be coming back. Very nice hotel, and set up very well with an old school feel. Clean, quiet and hotel staff were all great from check in, bartender, cleaning staff and valet made our stay most enjoyable! We were extremely happy they are pet friendly with NO ridiculous pet fees per night/stay! Thanks you Hotel SB!!

Google
What a beautiful property located just steps away from everything with amazing amenities, on site restaurants, wine bar, local flare and the friendliest staff. Special thanks to Warren Nocon who made my visit special from the start. The roof top pool and ocean views are second to none. Highly recommend this property to all from business travelers to families.

Google
The place is very stylish and up-to-date. But it was not comfortable. The TV was alongside the bed instead of in front of it. The toilet looked out upon the room if heavy barn door kept open. No breakfast included by Joe’s across the street was excellent. We won’t be back to this hotel.

Google
This is the perfect place to stay in. You're positioned right in the middle of the most happening place of Santa Barbara. Seamless check in and check out and folks at the reception were very warm. An absolutely fantastic experience

Google
We booked a room here because the pictures looked great. We weren't disappointed. It's a beautiful recently renovated hotel on State street, which is full of restaurants and shops. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Full of suggestions about where to go and eat. The bar in the lobby has good local wines and Miles, the bartender is great. Also a shout out to Alex at the front desk for great customer service.

There is definitely no shortage of places to stay in Santa Barbara. I have a few priorities in choosing where I stay. First, is location. Hotel Santa Barbara has an excellent location, to be sure. It’s not far from the beach, great restaurants, a Starbucks, a grocery store, lots of bars, and even a movie theatre. Just be aware that if you are in the heart of things, on a weekend, some rooms can get a little noisy from live bands playing nearby. When making your reservation, I would make sure to ask for a quieter room, if that’s what you’re looking for. My next priority is quality. This hotel has quality staff who are all friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and very well maintained. I really appreciated the extra touches like refillable water bottles in each room and water (both sparkling and still) dispensers on each floor. Robes and slippers are in each room. The soaps and toiletries and perfect. Last is the price. I’m not a cheapskate, but I like to get my money’s worth. This hotel is worth every penny. The hotel has charm, great service, and is an excellent location.

Yelp
POV from dog lovers that travel frequently with their pup : we loved the fact they are SUPER Dog Friendly! They do not charge a dog fee ( as of 11/2025) ! He was welcome everywhere in the hotel and dog bowl of water was at the front desk check in area . I wish more places were like this . I don't believe a hotel is truly dog friendly when they have a 150$ fee for one dog per night , as some hotels will charge. So we very much appreciated our stay here . Such a pretty hotel , we loved the lobby decor. Our room was also very esthetic but on the smaller side . The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. valet parking only , but it was a very reasonable fee. Location is on busy State st , close to many restaurants and bars and shopping. A Starbucks is connected to the building if you need your coffee fix. Friendly service and we will stay again when back in town :)

Yelp
Hotel SB is recently remodeled and I loved what they've done! Everything is so modern and pretty and feels so fancy. The location is ideal, right on State St. and across the World Market and near a bunch of restaurants and shops. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early and put our luggage in our room before we explored the city. Our room had every amenity we needed, including a phone charger, fluffy robes, room slippers and Lather bath products. I'm honestly not a fan of the shower "door", it was a glass panel that covered the front half of the tub so the water spray gets over everything towards the open part of the tub. The bed is comfortable but the mattress is a bit too soft for my old back so I didn't have a great sleep. Valet parking is available at $30/day with in & out privileges. The hotel is pet friendly also. There's a cool bar in the lobby that also serves small bites, and a door that enters the alpaca shop next door. Each floor has a water faucet that offers still or sparkling water (turn the knob for the kind of water you want), and ice in the little pull out freezer that's pre packed in ziploc bags that you can just bring into your room. We enjoyed our stay here and plan on booking here again when we come back next year!

Yelp
Stayed in July 2025-mid week. Love the location and new renovations in the hotel. Rooms are all very tastefully done and the lobby also just got a finished upgrade 2 weeks prior to our arrival. There's plenty of seating in the lobby and there's now a bar! Requested early check-in with a quiet high floor room prior to arrival. Perhaps it was mid week when we stayed but having a room on the top floor, away from the elevator and not facing State street made our stay very enjoyable because it was very quiet. There's a water filling station on every floor (flat or sparkling) and the freezer drawers has zip lock packed ice for guests to use. 2 free reusable bottles for guests in each room. We stayed in a 2 queen room. The beds and pillows were very comfortable but the room itself was a bit small for a party of 4. We also kicked the edge of the wooden bed a few times so be careful with that. There's a refrigerator already stocked with mini bar items so guests can't put much stuff in it. Smart TV, lots of drawers and closet space. 1 comfy robe and slippers provided and more can be requested. The bathroom has a large vanity for toiletry items but the shower is small and it has the partial glass panel which I'm not a big fan of because water tends to spray outside the shower and it's also quite cold not having a full door. Lots of mirrors. Coffee maker in room. $30 / day valet parking only but we were able to find lots of nearby overnight street parking. Location is very convenient because it's on State street where all the restaurants and shops are located. Free bike rentals with helmets and locks. Bikes had 7-8 speeds so it was very easy to ride. PERK: no pet fee! We would stay here again!

Yelp
LOVED everything about our stay here! We were initially booked in a nearby inn, but recently rescued a sweet dog and the inn wasn't pet-friendly. So I found Hotel SB and we visited over TG weekend: Our first official trip with our new dog! Not only is it an amazing location: Right in the heart of downtown SB where State is blocked off to car traffic, but the hotel discreetly set off from the street so it is quiet and serene even at times when it is bustling on State Street. While the location gets a 10/10 rating, the staff and service gets like a 100/10!! Everyone, from the professional and kind Erica at the front desk, to the men who valet parked, who so kindly retrieved our dog's favorite blanket from the car after we had settled in to our room. And the dog biscuits that Erica was so generous with were a huge hit with our cutie! The rooms were lovely, well-appointed, quiet, delicious tea and elegant electric kettle and old school brewed coffee. Room was cleaned in the window we asked, towels were fluffy, linens and bed were comfortable. There was a fitness room that had Peloton (I think) and other machines, but after eating and wine tasting our way through the city, I didn't personally visit the fitness room lol. Just a gentle head's up that there is only one elevator for the entire hotel (four stories), so there were a few times when I was crossing my fingers that it would come in time to take the dog for her walk. lol. But that wasn't a big deal at all, and the stairs were really easy to use. We go to Santa Barbara every year and I am so thrilled that we have found our new home there!!

Yelp
The hotel valet company broke my car and doesn't take responsibility for the damage! Terrible experience!

Yelp
This place is amazing! I will be staying here every time I visit Santa Barbara. This was my first time coming here so I don't know what it looked like before the renovations but this hotel is absolutely beautiful. As soon as you walk in it smells amazing and is super clean and welcoming. I chose this place because they are dog friendly. Everyone was so nice to my dog and treated her like royalty. The staff here is fantastic. Shannon was so great. She loved my dog and said hi & bye every time we saw her and gave her all the pets. She made our stay very memorable. I booked the smallest room they have. It was super cozy & comfy. The location of this hotel is perfect. Just steps out the front door there is Starbucks, Baja Sharkeez and a bunch of other stores/restaurants. The beach/pier is a short walk away. Best hotel experience I've ever had. I can't wait go back!

Yelp
Located In the heart of Santa Barbara's State street! It doesn't get better than that! I opted to stay at this hotel since the last of my daughter's friend group finally turned 21. I wanted them to be able to walk to the bars and back safely! For anyone that loves Sharkys in Huntington Beach or SB this hotel is literally next door. $30 to valet with in and out privileges. If you drive a Tesi then they park your car right in their lot and even charge it. Afternoon refreshments and cookies served daily. There's free bike rentals too. I didn't think I would ride a bike around state street but it's so convenient because there are bike parking everywhere. Rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfy. The hotel has history so if you want modern look elsewhere. Also they use Lather products here!! SCORE! I'd definitely stay here again in a heartbeat but their weekends are always sold out :(

Yelp
This historic hotel has completed a remodel of its hotel rooms with nicely designed interiors and furniture; new flooring; and a new vanity in the bathroom. The king rooms are very nicely appointed with comfy swivel armchairs in a black Southwestern pattern, a desk, and complimentary water bottles for the water and ice station, across from our room. Ice is put into baggies for you, so just grab and go. The rooms have a small electric kettle for heating water to make pour over filtered coffee or tea, which is a nice touch. The rooms could have more wall art or prints; however, the remodel most likely cost a fortune, so it's understandable that they did not invest in that. There's a digital clock with a USB port to charge your phone and it uses Bluetooth to play songs from your Spotify playlist. There are two very comfy robes in the room, and nice toiletries in the bathroom for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion. The room has a hair dryer, makeup mirror, full-length mirror, steamer, blanket, extra pillow, and a safe. There's cotton products and a special black washcloth for removing makeup. The only thing lacking for me was a shower cap, but that's a minor detail. We were given a room overlooking the valet lot, which is probably quieter than facing State Street; however, there was a lot of noise from other guests, especially one family with a young child who screamed constantly, ran around and was a complete terror. It made it hard for any of us to relax, day or night. There does not appear to be any soundproofing in the rooms, especially given the age of the hotel. There's also a loud booming noise constantly from 9 am or so until 5 pm when housekeeping staff is working and putting towels and bed linens down a chute. Friday night for us was very quiet and relaxing. Saturday day and night was very noisy with other guests and housekeeping using the laundry chute. Same for Sunday, when we checked out. The hotel is close to the center of State Street, making it easy to walk to restaurants, bars and shopping. Ubers cost $7-11 one way to go to the marina and adjacent restaurants. Service is very good here. Everyone from the front desk staff to the valet and housekeeping is so charming and friendly. The lobby is being remodeled, and they are adding a bar, which will be nice. Everything has a Spanish Mission style design and feel, which I love. Starbucks is downstairs and there's a Cost Plus World Market across the street for wine, beer and snacks. Overall, I love what they've done with this historic hotel. There are some issues with noise, etc. but the hotel is generally a good place to stay.

Yelp
Very easily one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. My fiancée and I stayed here for our wedding weekend, and from start to finish, the staff went above and beyond. Alyssa helped us with early check-in and made everything seamless. Hayden was a total rockstar at valet and assisting us with our luggage to the room--friendly, helpful, just all-around awesome. We were welcomed with wine, cookies, a personalized note, and an incredible corner room with stunning views. The staff even cheered us on as we left for our ceremony and welcomed us back with congratulations. Every detail--from the scent of the hotel to the design--was impeccable. We've officially found our hotel in Santa Barbara and will be coming back for the rest of our lives, in memory of our special day.

Yelp
I would/will stay at the Hotel Santa Barbara again, but I'm not giving 5 stars because no one gave us any heads up that the roof, right outside our window, was going to be worked on (starting at 7:30am) while we were staying there. Stayed 1/22/24-1/25/24 The hotel is in a great location, easy to access, and has a really friendly staff. We (husband and I) were traveling with our two dogs, and the hotel is very accommodating. We stayed in a very nice room on the third floor overlooking State Street through one window, and the back roof top area through the other. The bed was comfortable and I thought quite spacious - considering we filled it with a dog crate, my husband's bike and all our bags. The hotel is old, and only has - as far as I could tell - one little elevator. I don't know that I'd recommend this for anyone who needs to rely on the elevator, we ended up using the stairs except for getting all our things to/from the room. They put out coffee in the morning, and cookies around 3pm - I recommend the snickerdoodle.

Yelp
It's renovated, the rooms & bathrooms are modern/upgraded and central air works great. We stayed here back in 2020 so we were very pleased with the renovations. A bar is now in the lobby, unfortunately it was not operating during our stay. The staff was pleasant, Niko & Shannon were very kind & accommodating, room service on point, our room was cleaned perfectly. However, we didn't receive any complimentary goodies as per previous reviews, in fact I asked if we may grab a pastry located at the bar during check out today, and the gentleman at front desk stated they were only for picture display. The elevator still has its old charm it just takes forever to come up. Stairs are totally doable to the 4th floor.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel, just opened fully remodeled. The Rooms are well decorated and very comfortable. Perfect location, professional Staff. Very intuitive. Highly recommend

Yelp
52 year old single man here. My current annual salary is only $40,000, which I think would be helpful for Yelp reviewers to state. If I was rich, or had a rich spouse, I might have a whole different level of expectations and entitlements, like the service not being what it is at home with my maid staff or whatever. I treated myself to a weekend getaway-- two nights, Fri, 2/21 and Sat, 2/22--for my birthday. I'd absolutely stay at this hotel again if for three nights or less. Four floors. No pool. Quiet. Other than bike rentals and an ice cream parlor, downtown isn't a kid zone, so I didn't see or hear any children running amok. As for revelers, there isn't a big nightclub scene that attracts drunken revelers. I don't know, spring break or holidays might get a little rowdy, but State Street is pedestrian and bicycle only. It is closed to motor vehicle traffic, and even on the cross streets where there are cars, downtown doesn't seem like it caters to cruising, and certainly not racing. The streets aren't wide or long enough for that. I heard one motorcycle and one high performance engine my whole weekend there, and not while in the hotel. No car stereos either. There were one or two clubs with live bands, including a horn section on Saturday that sounded like a marching band, but hey, it's Saturday night. By 10, the live bands had stopped. Valet parking is $30/day due to the availability of parking around this historic downtown hotel. It's just not in an area where they can lay down a shopping mall parking lot for guests. I can't say enough about Shannon and the remarkable service here. I checked in on a Friday night and at checkout on Sunday--on the stairwell, not at the front desk looking at a screen--she remembered my name. THAT impressed me. The valet guys were hustling and very professional. Due to construction, the front desk is only accessible by walking around the building and past a couple of other doors on State St, so one of the valet guys walked me there personally, rather than just gave me directions. For breakfast, there's a two-room restaurant/diner, Joe's Cafe, right across State Street.

Yelp
Room was nice, everything was very historic looking and gave a different feel to the room. The 5 stars are really for the accommodations. Hotel front desk was always so kind and we got fun doggy bags for our two girls. They also offer dog beds and bowls, so you don't even need to bring your own! 100 stars to Cruz/Cruise out in valet. He is so dang cheery and bubbly. Hard to not be contagious. He's so helpful and literally ran around helping up get our belongings and car. Thanks a million!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel right on the beach. Santa Barbra is a great city all around d reminds me a lot of San Diego the best city in the world

Yelp
GREAT place to stay!!! Good location, clean, modern but quaint, great location and service. William at the front desk is incredible!!! Stay here!

Yelp
My Fiance and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Santa Barbara! Part of the hotel was still under construction, but the floor we stayed on (4) was newly renovated. Everything looked new and the whole floor smelled fresh and clean. We were there celebrating our engagement, and the front desk staff, specifically Sophie and Shannon, went above and beyond to make it special. They left some lovely wine and cookies as well as a bunch of balloons in our room as a surprise. We can't wait to come back when the renovation is complete!

Yelp
This was my husband's and my first time exploring the tourist areas of Santa Barbara and this was the perfect location. Very clean inside with lots of cool historical photographs of Santa Barbara decorating the walls. I also loved the beautiful Mexican tiles lining the stairs. It's such a wonderful location, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to during our stay and didn't need our car at all; it's right in the middle of State Street and only about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. The room was cozy and clean and I absolutely loved the little details like pour over coffee, a reusable water bottle with directions to a water station down the hall, and alarm clocks with built-in sound machines to drown out the nightlife outside. The bed was really comfortable and I got great sleep. Perfect for a romantic getaway and also a place I'd be happy to take a family vacation as well. Friendly staff, careful valets and an easy breezy check in. We will definitely be back

Yelp
Location is perfect. Right outside door is all the fun places and good eats. Room 203 was nice. Hotel under construction but didn't notice any noise. We still love Hotel Virginia better but would come back

Yelp
I had a really amazing stay at Hotel Santa Barbara during New Year's Eve weekend. Easy booking, and pet friendly! Front desk was very kind and I'd also like to add that this hotel accepts debit cards for bookings. For those of you who can't use a credit card. That's a huge deal because most hotels do require credit cards to book. Everything was so hassle free and I appreciate that! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, medium sized and eloquent. Only 2 floors, and the room was clean with a well stocked mini bar/fridge! AC in the room to control the temperature was great also. It's right in the middle of everything, I think it's a perfect place to stay if you're visiting Santa Barbara.
google avatar

Yelp
Very dog friendly which was nice for us since we were bringing our dog. Only downside was the room was a little small and stuffy feeling. There was a strange stuffy smell the whole time but figured it's just part of being in an older building. Staff was amazing! Everybody we encountered was super friendly and willing to help. It seems like they are renovating the lobby or something so the entrance was hard to find but I'm sure that will change. Great location for walking and quick drive to the harbor/beach.

Yelp
We truly had the most amazing experience at Hotel Santa Barbara for our wedding weekend, 06/19 - 06/23! The staff at Hotel SB treated us like royalty and even left us a special gift and note in our room for our arrival! We felt so grateful and it added to how special the whole weekend was. I also rented the Harbor conference room downstairs for my bridal party to get ready in and it was the absolute perfect setup for us, even with 10 bridesmaids! Hotel Santa Barbara accommodated every single need we had, our room was spacious and clean.... I can't wait to come back and stay for our future anniversaries! Also cannot forget the fresh baked cookies, water, coffee, and tea in the lobby to greet us every day! I couldn't be more grateful for the entire experience. Thank you, Hotel Santa Barbara!

Yelp
Stayed one night with my boyfriend when we were visiting Santa Barbara. It is on state st so it was just a 10 min walk to the restaurant and right next to local bars. The staff were all friendly and courteous. Our stay was great and having a 12pm check out is always nice. The room is cozy but has all the basic necessities. It was great coming in and having a water stand during the evening and coffee/tea during the morning. Valet parking service was great!

Yelp
Great location and good customer service. The room was clean and comfortable. We were able to walk to the pier and nearby restaurants. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy the area without having to drive everywhere
google avatar

Yelp
great location and about a 15 min walk to the beach with many restaurants and stores around it! staff were also generally nice, though there was some confusion / miscommunication at times. shower is also a bit oddly designed since it does not close all the way - not sure if that was intentional or it was just my room though. nevertheless, an enjoyable stay !

Laurita O.

Yelp
Stayed here because it was close to the Reagan Ranch Center. Lovely hotel, recently renovated. Room and bed were comfortable. The robes provided were lovely. Highly recommend staying here.

Katie B.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was very clean and the decor is so cute. I believe they renovated, and it is a very cute boutique hotel. It was my birthday and the staff was so kind to me. We would definitely come back here. The location is also unbeatable.

Yelp
This hotel is in the heart of Santa Barbara on State Street where there are an abundance of shops and restaurants. They offer parking in the rear and directly across the street where they offer security watching from 10:00PM to 6:00AM...the fee to park is $15.00 a day. Check in was a BREEZE...super fast as they offered service with a smile. During our unprecedented time of Covid-19 the hotel visibly seem to make the hotel guest safety their top priority. They seem to go to great measures to make sure all the public spaces were cleaned & sanitized frequently, ensuring social distances, face mask, hand sanitizing were all available in the lobby. It's comforting knowing the hotel has been certified by the California Hotel & Lodging Association's clean & safe program. Our room was very clean...spotless but we still did a Lysol & Clorox wipe down...everywhere! So rarely found they offered 6 outlets, 1 power strips, there were 2 large mirrors, 3 lamps with additional power outlets, refrigerator, coffee maker, robes, safe, computer table and a small T.V....we also loved & appreciated the great hot water & the great water pressure. There is a lot of vintage deco throughout the hotel from the building lobby, the elevator, in the hallways, to the pictures on the walls. I would highly recommend this hotel...I'd say it's a hidden gem in plain sight. I want to give a special shout out to Ellen who went overboard to make our stay special.

Yelp
The hotel maintains its historic charm while keeping up with the times. The rooms are good. They have all the things you'd need/want coffee machine, iron, safe, fridge, etc. The bathroom was obviously very recently redone and redone well. Nice size shower/tub. Now, a picky-er reviewer might give a ding or two for a couple of things here n there, but whatever the property may be lacking is made up for by the staff (and then some). The staff that was there from 7/3-7/5 is what hospitality is all about. Professional, accommodating, proactive, and very thoughtful. From William and the young lady whose name is escaping me who checked us in to the night desk staff that went out of their way to help me heat up milk for my daughter to the valet Stagg and housekeeping- the staff here are just an outstanding group.
google avatar

J A A.

Yelp
Ridiculously expensive hotel in a tourist trap area. (Don't expect to get any sleep as it's louder than Washington Heights until 3 in the morning). Jesus Christ. I don't get all the 4 and 5 star reviews - I really don't understand people. As soon as I walked into the lobby, my heart sank. Outdated and run down. Followed by it taking half an hour to check in, as the person at the front desk didn't know what they were doing. The water filter on the ice machine hasn't been changed since 2019. A small room is fine with me, but the decor was underwhelming and depressing. But I'll give it two stars as it was clean and the bathroom was fine.
google avatar

Erica Y.

Yelp
Worth it? Not for me. Rates reflect location and not necessarily what the hotel offers. Stay here if you really want to enjoy State Street and stay close to it for whatever reason. Spend a little more if you want to stay somewhere nice on State Street or consider a different area all together. The rooms are small but they're clean, bathroom was well equipped but cramped. Walls are thin, I was fully woken up by my neighbors shower. They only provide one bath robe even if your reservation is for more than one (don't really understand that). The elevator takes forever because it has a second door that opens out? I don't get it. Try to stay on the first floor if possible and take stairs. The hotel advertises $30 on-site parking which I have a strong bone to pick with because this was inconvenience. In reality, it's a valet service which really is unnecessary. I feel like they provide this service to give a reason to charge for a parking spot. I just wanted a spot to leave my car but they dedicate on-site parking for electric car charging or for guests upon arrival. Unless you're coming in an out and take out your car often, your car will be parked in an unattended lot across the street that's shared with other businesses. Why isn't it advertised as on and off site valet? If the on-site gym is attached to to hotel and isn't across the street, I expect "on-site" to be used with the same standard definition across all amenities. I appreciate valet service when I can't find parking or don't want to walk far to get my car but this service is really a waste of energy for everyone. I'd rather not have to go through a stranger to be able to use my car and this is why it's so inconvenient. Valet staff are very friendly and will offer to drive your car 10 feet to bring it to where you're standing but it's so awkward like who even needs that lol.

Yelp
Very cute hotel with cozy rooms in an ideal location. We did have an issue with the shower-- the drain was clogged and also spit out some gross stuff. But more importantly the hotel was very apologetic and gave us a generous discount, and promised to fix it for the next guests.

Yelp
We stayed in this hotel while performing in town with the Nutcracker Orchestra. Had a marvelous experience at the Hotel Santa Barbara. As a musician I travel a lot, and hotels are my base in any city I perform. They are essential for me having downtime and time to prepare for performances. The staff who greeted us were exceptionally kind and knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms were lovely, bright and with all sorts of details that make any stay easy. Chargers for the electronics, great selection of snacks and drinks, a wide screen TV. We loved the super comfy robes that were in the room. The bathroom was a great experience. With plenty of fluffy towels, washcloths and hand towels. And the shower, one of those overhead rain showers, felt really great after a day of exploring and work. The beds were super comfy too with a marvelous selection of pillows!! Very conveniently there is a Starbucks in the same building as the hotel, and it is right on a part of State Street that provides numerous great places to eat and socialize. Right across the street from Joe's Cafe, Institution Ale, and Holdrens Steak House. All of which we enjoyed. Also many Thai, Irish, Japanese and Mexican restaurants, brew pubs and clubs are within a block or two. Really a lovely area to explore and ten minute walk from the Funk Zone and wine tasting areas. We really felt at home, all our requests quickly and accurately fulfilled with a smile. Will definitely come back to explore more of the town and relax at this lovely hotel.

Yelp
Horrible. Went to check in on time, was told it was ready, at the last minute they literally took the key back from me and said it would be another hour. Got the text 2hrs later room was ready..again was told it would be another 30min or so, they would call. Never got a call. Hung out around the hotel for about 5hrs just waiting. Finally when I was allowed to check in, trash on the floor and someone else's Apple Watch right there on the table immediately visible. Toilet did not work at all. Like, at all. Called to have it fixed. They did come immediately, but it was not fixed. Wish I could give a half star. Only because they came immediately when called and had good cookies in the lobby. Will not be back.

Yelp
My husband and I had a good stay here. The front desk workers were so kind. The gym is super nice and I love how they offer complimentary coffee, flavored water, cookies, and champagne at check in. Our car battery died and the valet was so kind and took care of it for us; he also put all of our bags in nicely. My only complaint is the room and bathroom was too small for the price we payed. We didn't know we had to pay for valet, so we got changed on one last might valet and only had 2 free night. If you stay here, you are staying in a great location; however, do expect small, older rooms, and you may have to pay for valet. Def call ahead so you know how many days you're paying valet for..

Yelp
This is a stunning hotel with charm! The rooms are a great size, it has a central location - walking distance to most things , and has so many great amenities. We did not bring our dog , but it is a very dog friendly hotel which was super fun for my daughter to see. They offer refreshments at checkin and throughout the day. The lobby is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. We were helped greatly by Lani. Downsides are you are close to the bars so we could hear them from our room. We aren't light sleepers but I could see that being a problem. Again there are dogs so you may hear the occasional bark . I would stay here again in a heartbeat !

Yelp
I don't think this place gets enough credit!! Stayed here for a couple nights with my bf. Parking/Valet is easy. The staff is SO nice, helpful and considerate. This little historic hotel has everything you need and even a little more. The rooms/lobby area is very clean and well kept. We loved it. Not to mention, when you stay here you're within very close walking distance to all the fun nightlife and good restaurants. Will be staying here again!!

Excellent location on State St and close to some good restaurants and bars. The rooms are cozy and clean. The staff very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to give us some good options for music. AND....they have cookies! Big delicious cookies. Lol The rooms can be a little loud bc your close to State St fun.

Yelp
Welcoming hotel for big dogs! The rooms are well kept and have all of the basic amenities - including a small refrigerator and small minibar. Just know it's an old building and while we found it charming, others may not appreciate certain aspects, like the old elevator or small rooms. The staff is very kind, and they do little things like serve wine or holiday cookies that make for a nice atmosphere. It's also walkable to everything and reasonably priced.

Yelp
I was a little wary after reading several reviews. But I totally enjoyed my stay here! The hotel is on State Street, the main street in downtown Santa Barbara. The original hotel was built in 1876, but much of it was destroyed in an earthquake in 1925 and it was eventually rebuilt. It has an old school elevator and small, quaint rooms. I found them to be cozy and very clean. No musty odors that are usually found in hotels this old. The front desk employees were pleasant. We originally were given a room close to the elevator but the concierge, Julie was able to move us to a room at a quieter location around the corner and even brought the keys to us!! They have valet service which was a little confusing at first. But for $15 with in/out privileges, it can't be beat for the convenience. The valets were there to please. They even cleaned off some bird poop that landed during our stay. Their complimentary continental breakfast had good variety! They served bagels, croissants and other baked goods from a local bakery, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, make your own mini waffles, juices, teas and coffee. It was a nice way to start the day.

Yelp
Nice, clean hotel. The only negatives would be the very small, slow single elevator, the pillows are bad, and the rooms are tiny, but for the price, a very clean, safe and well maintained hotel at an excellent location. The room was around $200 for one night when you include the valet parking that's $30. Other hotels go up to $1,000+ in the area.

Yelp
No Sleep. If you are young and want to party with loud music until 2 am on a Saturday night, this is the perfect hotel for you. There are two clubs --next door and across the street. However I don't recommend this place For families or anyone who wants a relaxing time and a good nights sleep. We couldn't sleep at all due to the dance music and yelling from outside. We had a function early in the morning in the area and needed to be rested and refreshed. The building has one older elevator That holds three people. There is a bit of a wait to get up and down if you are older or you have luggage and cannot take the stairs. There is a staircase next to the hotel that you can take to one of the four floors.

Yelp
Great location & a throw back hotel. While I've been to SB, a number of times over the years, never stayed here. The hotel was built in 1926, if I'm not mistaken, architecture is Spanish, as is most of SB. The hotel being old, generally has smaller rooms. That's ok for say 3 nights. After all, your only in your room to sleep, get ready, well maybe?. Back to it. The hotel, doesn't have its own restaurant, so no room service & no going down to grab a lite bite in the middle of the day or anytime for that matter. They do offer a continental breakfast! However, it is woefully lacking many items one finds at a typical hotel style continental bkf. The hotel is clean, quite & well maintained. I would recommend it for your consideration, if you want to be right in the middle of State Street. A solid 4 out of 5 Stars.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to stay a few nights in the Santa Barbara hotel while visiting Santa Barbara for an extended weekend. We picked this hotel based on location (walking distance to most of the "must-see" and "must-eat" spots offered by this amazing city. We were not disappointed, as a matter of fact, the experience we had at SB hotel exceeded our expectations. The crew made us feel welcomed and part of the family from the first experience with the valley, front desk, and room service. Kelly at the front desk was very personable yet professional, and full of tips on what to do and see in town and Jeff Love took our experience to the next level. The rooms are cozy, clean, and equipped with anything you need. They also have free bikes for guests to tour the city and their coffee and iced tea in the lobby is really high quality. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Do not stay here if you need any kind of special accomodations. We requested a disabled room and though the room was great the elevators were out of service twice in our long weekend stay.

Yelp
I like you Hotel Santa Barbara. Not only are you walking distance from the train station, you're super close to a lot of great restaurants, coffee shops and nightlife, a perfect combo for those of us who don't want to drive if we don't have to. When you enter, it's definitely giving you some old retro beach vibes, and the rooms match. Though things are on the dated side, everything is kept up nicely and clean. Because it's on the main drag, you can definitely hear people walking and talking. Since I was there mid-week, there wasn't a whole lot of foot traffic out front, but if you're one of those peeps that are light sleepers, you might want to invest in some earplugs cause I'm sure there's some crazy shenanigans come Friday and Saturday when the tourists are in town. They have a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning, but would recommend looking for elsewhere if you're in need of a more substantial meal. Staff was super friendly and I would for sure stay here again!
