Hotel Santa Lucia

The Hotel Santa Lucía offers a perfectly decent and accommodating stay in Mérida, particularly for travelers who prioritize location and core comfort over modern aesthetics. While the hotel fulfills basic standards, potential guests should temper expectations set by the promotional material. Appearance vs. Reality The owner's photographs, while professional and shiny, can give the impression that the hotel is newer or more recently renovated than it is. Upon arrival, the building reveals a bit more wear and tear. We noticed several small areas in the room that felt less taken care of, including minor holes and cracks in the walls and broken insect screens on the windows. The bathroom initially presented a slight issue with a strange odor, which seemed chemical-perhaps a result of an aggressive cleaning product, but it was certainly noticeable at first. Comfort and Core Standards Despite the superficial flaws, the hotel excelled where it matters most: cleanliness and comfort. Personally, I found the room to be clean, the sheets were crisp and fresh, and the bed was genuinely comfy. For someone whose primary concerns are a restful night's sleep and hygiene, the Hotel Santa Lucía performs well. Location and Service The location is a major highlight. It's perfectly situated, offering a perfect distance to the center of Mérida, making it easy to walk to major sights, restaurants, and markets. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which significantly contributed to the positive overall atmosphere of the stay. Overall Verdict The Hotel Santa Lucía is a good choice for the budget-conscious traveler looking for a clean, comfortable bed in an unbeatable location. It’s an okay to good hotel that meets basic standards, but don't expect it to look as pristine as the marketing photos suggest. If you can overlook minor signs of age and appreciate friendly service, this is a solid base for exploring the city.

The hotel’s pictures do not reflect the reality of the place and the personel is polite but I got into my room and there was a roach right in the middle of the room and the AC was not working. We got a hand from the lobby boy to fix the AC but after stating to him the fact that I killed and disposed of a roach in my check in night expecting something other than just him staring at me was a bit disapointing. The bathroom stinks to sewers so another bumer there. There was supposed to be parking included but the parking charges an extra that wasn’t mentioned anywhere, which covers parking during the night but before 8am you have to change it to another parking, so one parking for the Morning and another for the night. Not specially a place to drop in and expect to relax in my opinion.

The hotel room is comfortable and clean. The air con and fan worked well, keeping the room cool with the hot temperatures outside.|The hotel is located in a good location in Merida, only a 5 minute walk from the main square with the cathedral. |The pool is very small with not much sun and only 2 sunbeds. However it was never busy and I was always lucky to get one when I fancied a relax after a day of sightseeing.

DO NOT LEAVE THE MONEY IN A HOTEL ROOM. I believe we have been robed in a hoteL room by the stuff (second time in jucatan). Ps we found hair under the shower

The piece has a great location, don't expect anything fancy,but it sirve for sleeping only.

Really basic rooms, for some reason our bed was on wheels. That was interesting! The shower NEVER GOT HOT. sometimes it was downright cold. The towels and bedding were nice quality and cleaned and changed daily, that was nice. The parking garage around the corner was safe and convenient.

Nice hotel, great location good choice of restaurant across the road. We booked an English speaking city tour but after 3 time changes it never happened due to low booking numbers. This city is very hot we visited in early May 25.

We stayed at Hotel Santa Lucia twice and enjoyed our stay both times. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The bathroom could use some refreshing and maintenance but otherwise didn’t affect being able to enjoy a hot shower each day. It is a historical building showing some wear but that is also part of its charm. The Parque Santa Lucia is across the street and the main plaza a five minute walk. With numerous cafes, restaurants or historical sites within easy access, the location is perfect. From Sebastian gliding us through the check in process with kind proficiency; to Flor ensuring everything was clean and always ready with a friendly smile and greeting, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay her again.
