HOTEL SARAVANA BHAVAN

Visited the place after a really long time. I was a regular to their Egmore branch about 2 decades back, during its beginning days. The quality and taste of food is almost same. Sadly, their service is at the lowest now! Sincerely hoping they rise back to their previous glory again.

Decades back when we were at KK Nagar, we used to have lunch regularly at the space at first floor, where for 60 or 70 odd rupees they fed us with lovely food; refills were done willingly- rarely we asked them. But today at one of its outlets, I had an experience to forget! Staff had to be followed up multiple times even to get the bill. Food was just about average - a sambar without any vegetables and pickle-sized portion of kootu and poriyal. Staff weren’t attentive and most of the time they aren’t to be seen. Eventually we walked out and paid the bill at counter since no one was there to present the bill. Wonder how they are able to sustain the business with this terrible service! Made a note to self, to never ever step in.

Extremely disappointing experience. The staff were arrogant and dismissive, showing no courtesy or willingness to assist. The food was well below expectations — bland, cold, and lacked the authentic taste you’d expect from a place with this reputation. To make matters worse, the service was painfully slow. We had to wait an unusually long time for even basic items, and follow-ups were met with indifference. Overall, a very poor experience. Definitely not worth the visit.

I had one of the worst experiences at Saravana Bhavan. Went for breakfast and the place almost felt abandoned no proper service at all. Most of the tables were marked “reserved” but nobody actually showed up, and when we tried to sit, the waiter rudely stopped us and even scolded us instead of helping. On top of that, many tables were not even cleaned properly, with used plates and leftovers still lying there. When I politely asked the waiter about it, instead of addressing the issue, he shouted back at us with so much arrogance. The staff showed zero professionalism, way too much attitude, and even picked fights with us. For such a big name like Saravana Bhavan, this behavior is shocking, unacceptable, and a huge disappointment. Never expected such poor standards in service and cleanliness. Definitely would not recommend this branch to anyone.

Came from Assam, with a great thoughts, friends who visited Chennai, asked me to enjoy food from Hotel Saravana bhavan. O ho, so careless the staffs. Spend 45 minutes to orders. Don't why friends suggested me. 🤔

We tried a South Indian thali meal and it was a nice experience. The plate featured a variety of dishes, including flavorful curries, rice, and traditional accompaniments. The authenticity of each dish showcased the restaurant's commitment to South Indian cuisine. The service and the staff was attentive. The pricing was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. Overall, a satisfied.
