Lovely, friendly staff. Beautiful hotel, gorgeous room with great shower and bathroom facilities. The staff on the front desk were really friendly and so kind to our little boy! They remembered him every time and got him a sweet ready from the jar. We will definitely be back!

Loved the hotel. The location was perfect for us. Our suite was clean, quiet and with a nice view. Gab at the front desk was very helpful with telling us where to go and how to get there. The breakfast was also nice with some authentic Spanish items. And if we didn’t know what something was Cesar helped us out. We’ll stay here again, in a heart beat!

I’m giving a fairly generous 4/5 because we didn’t experience any major issues with service or hospitality. All the essentials—like the AC—worked perfectly, and the staff were courteous throughout our stay. That said, the biggest drawback was the room size. The standard room we stayed in was quite small—barely enough space to open two suitcases without blocking all walking space. The photos on the website were well-shot but somewhat misleading; they didn’t provide an accurate sense of scale. While the listing mentions “natural light from the courtyard,” the courtyard itself is very small, so the actual sunlight in the room was minimal. I’ve noticed other reviewers mention that even the deluxe rooms feel tight, so perhaps compact room sizes are just the norm at Sardinero. Still, we appreciated that everything else—maintenance, cleanliness, and basic amenities—was handled well. Future travelers should just be aware of the limited space, as it’s not obvious from the website.

We loved our brief stay in Madrid. The hotel was amazing. All of our needs were skillfully handled and the accommodations were very comfortable. Also, the location was close to many of the main attractions but not too close. In our opinion, the perfect location. Would recommend 100%

My husband and I both liked this hotel so much, that we canceled our room at the NH Gran Via to stay here a few more nights. The staff is very helpful and accomodating, we stayed in two rooms (on separate occasions) and loved both of them. Great bathroom, shower, toiletries, towels, hairdryer, privacy. Comfortable bed and pillows. Also a nice location- 10/15 min walk to the busy shopping area, but not as crazy as Gran Via. This will be my go to hotel in Madrid.

⸻ This is a truly special hotel in the heart of Madrid, just steps from several metro stations and within easy walking distance of many of the places we wanted to explore. The hotel itself is small, charming, and full of warmth. Each morning as we headed out—or returned tired in the evening—being greeted by Marcos at the front desk always brought a smile to our faces. His presence made us feel genuinely cared for. We absolutely loved our stay, and if we ever return to Madrid, we’ll be sure to book again at Hotel Sardinero.

Great hotel, amazing friendly staff, in a historic building. Hotel amenities were in tip top shape. Most of all location was key, close enough to the main hotspots and yet far off enough from the touristic spots. Surrounded by a lot of local spots. Definitely will stay here again.

Should have been a lot better. As I write, we are on our second of five nights at this four star hotel. So these comments are based mostly on that experience. Will update later if anything better or worse happens. First the pros (glass 2/5ths full): - Clean and good cleaning of room. - AC works great in room and elsewhere. - Small mini fridge, but they restock it with water every day so far. - Excellent view from the room. - Light-tight window treatments if needed. - Quiet so far. - Nice shower with somewhat logical controls (plumbing fixtures can be an issue in Spain). - Bar is nice and not overly priced. Friendly and helpful bartender. - Friendly staff overall, however... (more below). - Large breakfast and decent buffet spread (but don't assume it's included--ask first!) Now the cons (glass 3/5ths empty): - Our "deluxe" room is tiny. I would hate to be squeezed into a normal room. Maybe it's deluxe because of the nice view? - Laminate flooring could use a refresh. So gratis four-star slippers (as we had in our previous hotel) would be appreciated. - The peeling wallpaper enrages my wife. Needs a refresh too. - Access to the photo highlighted "terrace" on the fifth floor was locked on our first evening (it wasn't late at all). Will check again today, but it should have been open. - Front desk, on arrival, carried our luggage to the elevator (not to the room), which was odd. Saved us a tip I guess. - Front desk, on arrival, also mentioned breakfast was included, which conformed to our expectations based on our booking through hotels dot com. However, this morning we received a bill at the table and were told breakfast was not included (30 Euros for two). We asked about the discrepancy at the front desk. The guy told us his coworker had made a mistake in telling us breakfast was included. No offer to correct their own mistake (four stars?). Bottom line: Ask before eating or potentially suffer a bait and switch. More affordable first meals are readily available nearby. - Not one English channel on the room televisions. No biggie, but really? Considering the cost and alternatives, we probably would not stay here again. We have stayed in many hotels in Madrid and throughout Spain.
