Nice hotel. Good location. Nice staff. The hotel is old fashioned, but in a nice vintage way. Everything is clean and the high category rooms are huge (we had two superior rooms with a connecting door). The staff is mostly friendly which is really a big plus in Germany. Only four stars because there were some things missing that make a really good hotel of this category (bath robes, house shoes etc...) and because the breakfast staff did not seem to be professionals.

Loved staying here fab breakfast and elegant spaces. Our room was warm as no A/C but bearable with window to small balcony. I liked the cigar area, although I do not smoke, if I did I'd like to indulge in this room, tainted with the rich smell of good tobacco. Excellent staff and good service at reception. Enjoyed the view from our room.

Hotel is well located in district with developed infrastructure. Very convenient to use public transport - stations are very close. Shopping streets and restaurants around. In hotel offering excellent breakfasts. Nice room service. However refurbishment is old enough, but if you are not planning to stay in hotel for the day and room needed mainly for sleeping it is okey.

I had been doing a budget Europe trip and as my last day I wanted to go big, so I choose Sir Savoy and it was the best sleep in my life. Their mattresses are to die for....you sleep on clouds, you feel huged! The place is clean and staff super extremely friendly!!! ||I would recommend this to anyone anytime ❤️ do not miss the best night sleep in your life! ||-Alina, Princess for a day

This was our first visit to Berlin & this hotel made our stay perfect. The hotel was in a fantastic location, close to restaurants, bars, supermarket & most importantly transport. |The staff were always very friendly & the room we had was huge & very clean. We stayed in room 111. |After reading the reviews about the smell of cigars (from the downstairs bar) and the hotel smelling really bad of it, I was concerned. However load of rubbish, yes you can smell it in the reception but thats it! You cant smell it in your room at all & we were on the first floor!|Thank you so much for a lovely stay we would definitely recommend this hotel & would return! :)|Jessica & Warren

Google
Great receptionist when we arrived, hotel has an older style but embraces it with things like a cigar bar. The cigar bar smells a bit in the night but it isn't as bad as some other reviews make out. Quite a few local places around for drinks with a cool jazz bar across the street or a bouncing club just down the road

A lovely older hotel that has been refurbished to a good standard; but whose linens are like their walls: paper thin. There’s also a smoking bar off the lobby which is unfortunately, a smelly way to greet guests. Clean and comfortable in most respects.

Fancy-looking hotel, without being kitsch. Excellent position, very close to the main shopping area, but also located in the pretty and quiet Charlottenburg neighbourhood, 20 min away from Tegel Airport. Very clean rooms, excellent shower, free drinking water bottles. The hotel bar is unfortunately a "smokers lounge", so not very attractive to anyone who does not share such habit. Even more a pity, as its cocktails seemed well prepared.

Yelp
It was like visiting grandma's house. Here's the thing. I'd love my hotel stay to make me feel like I've been transported back to the nineteen twenties, I just don't want to feel like the couch in my room hasn't been cleaned since the nineteen twenties. Stained dingy furniture. No air conditioning. The single bed was clean but hard as a rock. I had to air the room out when I first arrived. It was warm and smelled a bit musty. Also: When we checked in the very polite bellhop valet parked our car in a lot across the street, and kept the keys. When we checked out, the impolite manager- Sabrina I think- just pointed to the lot across the street and told us we would have to retrieve our car. We could not find the entrance to the lot, so we went back and she gave us directions, but nobody offered to get the car for us, even thought there were four employees behind the desk. She also refused to smile. Positives: The shower's water pressure was fantastic. It was walking distance to the fancy shops and train station. If you are going to stay here, try to find a deal. Auf Wiedersehen!

Yelp
I am sitting in my room at The Savoy right now and I love love love this place and I'm so happy it still exists in its original and perfect form. These rooms were built when things were built to last with the highest quality materials. It is an elegant and perfect Art Deco dream. The staff is so nice and helpful. I can't wait to bring my wife back here. I will never need another hotel in Berlin history and hospitality are alive at The Savoy.

Yelp
Not a nice place. Most disappointing was the lack of any management presence at this shabby, stinky old hotel. The Savoy claims to be "nonsmoking" which is laughable. One whiff of the lobby and you will see that the smoke-filled cigar bar on the main floor is the culprit. But this was not the worst of our experience. Communication with staff was very inconsistent. The front desk was friendly and pretended to be competent, but then did nothing to alleviate our severely overheated "luxury" suite. Our repeated requests for help with the very uncomfortable temperature (30 degrees Celsius) in our "air conditioned" room was met with avoidance tactics and a recurring ignorance of the situation from shift to shift at the front desk. Communication between desk personnel, housekeeping/mechanical staff and "management" was very poor. Housekeeping was not available. The mechanical crew had left at 3 in the afternoon. The manager was "in a meeting" the entire three days of our stay. Each time we asked for someone to come up to our room (so that they could experience the heat) we were told that no one was available to do that. Each time we returned from our very busy days in Berlin, we hoped that the heat problem would have been addressed. Each time the front desk crew knew nothing of the problem and could not find any notes in the computer regarding a request for help. After asking repeatedly for assistance we were given two plastic fans after we'd gone to bed on the second night. There was no other room for us to move to, and they obviously didn't want us to move to another hotel. Potential guests should know that the rancid smell of a large and crowded cigar lounge in the lobby is the overriding impression as you enter this once-grand hotel. The smell permeates the entire building. Also disappointing is the torn, filthy carpet and smokey air on the 6th floor. We reserved a deluxe suite for three nights. Paid full price for a bedroom and unusable lounge room (very shabby, old, dirty fold out couch, and no air conditioning, despite their insistence that the rooms would cool down in an hour or so). I truly suspected that the floor below us was on fire because of the smell and the intense heat of the floors. We received very poor attention from the staff and the only time I spoke with a "manager' was when we checked out. A phone call was made and we had a bi-lingual conversation in which the manager rudely interrupted to say "so now we are going to speak German?" We were told by the manager on the phone that "no where in writing does it say that you will have air conditioning" "No, we will not give you any decrease in price for your discomfort over the past three days at our hotel." The most professional person we encountered was an intern who told us she was very sorry, but management was not available to talk with us. I hope she finds a better place to work soon.

Yelp
Though I'm giving only 3 stars as a rating, this is still my preferred Berlin hotel and will continue to use it. Previous reviewers have pointed out some obvious shortcomings. The furnishings can be at times a little worn, and the walls in our room on the most recent stay had smudges beside the light switches and a couple of unrepaired "divots". Since all my stays so far have been in May, I've not suffered for lack of air conditioning, but I can understand those who say they've missed it in the summer. The smoke from the cigar bar could be detected on our floor (labeled a nonsmoking floor) - I really didn't mind it (it was "noticeable" but not strong), but I understand the problem it poses for others. The breakfast, praised by many reviewers, seems over-priced to me. But for me the positives still outweigh all this. Our rooms have always been of decent size, with a separated seating & writing area, and lots of storage space. The bathrooms are clean, roomy, and modern. The room prices are not high for a major city, particularly for a hotel in such an advantageous location. The Zoologischer Garten train station (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, Regional Rail, and Buses) is right nearby, as is KuDamm with its shopping, including KaDeWe. It's a very easy walk to Savignyplatz, with a wide range of interesting and reasonably priced restaurants. The hotel has "settled charm" and character -- it's not a modern chrome & terrazzo decor -- and that block of Fasanenstraße is relatively quiet at night. Finally, I've found the staff always to be friendly, efficient, and professional. Summary: I agree that the hotel has more stars displayed at its entrance than it may in fact deserve, but I find the quality to be in line with the room prices and that the outstanding central location more than compensates for the shortcomings.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and spacious. I was ill on the trip and had to make a trip to the ER. The front desk staff was "ok" in their help of the situation but did not make a special effort to help me with needed information. Overall, it was "ok". I wish the staff would have had a friendlier attitude with guests. The cigar lounge was very nice.

Yelp
Great cigar lounge in the hotel. If you are into cigars, their selection of cigars is hard to beat in Berlin. Fantastic service and great drinks as well. A bit on the expensive side, but totally worth checking out. The La Casa del Habano is often stocked with regional Cuban cigars which is a huge plus.

Yelp
Older hotel in need of some minor updating, but a truly classic european style hotel. Service was truly excellent, got some great information for local places to go and eat, always greeted when entering or leaving or if we had a question. Room was spacious, always got a chocolate on the pillow. Didnt eat in the adjoining restaurant but it seemed busy, and do not smoke so didnt go into the cigar bar, also very busy. Good location about a block from the zoo and the bus station, easy to get around. Would stay here again!

Yelp
Great hotel, the decor is a bit old and in general you can see this hotel has been around for a while. But I think this is what makes this hotel amazing, true European hotel with courteous and professional staff. Don't forget to get a whiskey with a good Cuban cigar at the adjacent cigar lounge.

Yelp
Very nice hotel in a great part of town. Walking distance to many areas like the Kantsrasse with many restaurants and cafe's and a few blocks from the Kurfurstendamm with a lot of nice stores, both high end and reasonably priced.. I thought the price was very good for such a nice hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent, very tasty and wide selection.

Yelp
The Savoy is an outdated attempt at a throwback to a classic European style hotel. All of the design was of a previous era, but looked like it was purchased from a secondhand store (stained and paint chipped) The Good: The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is close to many attractions. The Bad: Our room was on floor 1 facing the road. The first thing we noticed was that the entire floor smelled of cigarette smoke. The weather was hot and the room was musty so we had to open the window in order to breathe (there was no air conditioning). However, with the window open cigar/cigarette smoke from the restaurant and cigar bar below came pouring into the room. Furthermore, the room become filled with noise from some sort of outdoor club across the street. The staff was helpful by giving me ear plugs when I asked to be moved to a different room. Breakfast is NOT included with the room and must be purchased extra and there is no coffee available in the room or lobby unless purchased with breakfast. Finally, we did not get turn down service despite that we placed the doorknob hanger for the room to be serviced (albeit it was around 3:30 PM the last time we left the room) Overall, I would NOT recommend this hotel and will not stay at this hotel if I am ever back in Berlin. Instead pick a place a little further away from the attractions and ride the public transport to see what you want. You will not only save money, but you will save your lungs and save your t-shirt from getting stained with sweat.

Yelp
Nice older clean hotel. Rooms are small by American standards. Good value for the money. Walking distance to bus, tram, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Good to see that a Savoy Hotel staffer just made my point: when criticism provokes more rudeness and dismissiveness, you know this place is a "pass"'! Buyer beware!

Yelp
Definitely the best room money can buy in WEST Berlin. A room booked in a proper advance and not during a convention (but during the hot season) can cost around 100EUR incl. breakfast. speaking of breakfast, it is just good. But the pearl in certainly the rooms: big, recently renovated, clean and so comfortable. The cigar bar is probably the best in Berlin, with a huge variety and reasonable prices (Romeo&Juliette medium for 6EUR), and the food is delicious. Location is more for businessmen rather than for young tourists, important to remember.

Yelp
Arrrrrrgghhhh. This was probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The weather in Berlin was hot and the room they gave me had no air conditioning. So it was extremely uncomfortable, even with the window open. (To their credit, the staff did bring me a fan. The staff were friendly and helpful and are the only thing about this hotel that deserve a positive review). I was traveling with a colleague and her room also did not have A/C. To make matters worse, her room was facing directly east, so in the morning the direct sunlight turned her room into a sauna. She normally likes heat but even for her this was too much to bear. When she asked if she could get a room with A/C, she was told all the rooms with A/C were taken. However, after informing the staff that she would therefore have to change to a different hotel, she was finally given a room with an air conditioner. Only to find out that her A/C unit was so weak that it did not cool her room. And that is just one issue. It is an ugly place. The rooms are shabby, badly in need of renovation; they have obviously not been updated since 1962 or whenever the hotel was built. Everything is really worn out. The light switches are confusing and haphazard. There are only a few electric outlets. The bathroom smells musty. The shower door is shoddy. The shower itself doesn't drain properly. You are given one pillow ... that's right, ONE pillow. Basic amenities (e.g., washcloths, irons) are nowhere to be found. The lobby smells of stale cigar smoke from the adjacent smoking lounge. What irks me the most is that this hotel is officially rated 4-stars. Naively, I'd assumed that I could trust the hotel rating system. Never again. I would give this hotel one-half a star, and only because the staff were friendly and helpful. I've stayed at budget roadside motels that put this place to shame.
