We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony for 5 nights. The space was comfortable, the front desk staff was friendly. They even did our laundry for a 6€ fee. The bus stop is 1 block away. The hotel is on a quiet street, and surrounded by restaurants. I highly recommend a stay.

Checking in went fairly smoothly. Room was okay, nice and clean. Bed was pretty comfortable. Bathroom was pretty clean. I tried to have a shower which wasn’t very powerful but as soon as I stepped in I slipped over and as I tried to steady myself I slipped again so I gave up as I could’ve really hurt myself.

100% satisfied. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My emails were answered promptly and all questions I asked were addressed with care and detailed information was provided. I stayed for 11 nights. My room was clean and tidy. Every day it was cleaned and clean towels etc were provided. The reception staff and the late porter were very helpful with giving me maps and helping me to find a building that I needed to be at. The rooms are basic but nothing was too much trouble for Schanzenstern Altona and I would highly recommend it and would stay there again.

We stay in the A1 apartment which is on the top floor. The building has a lift and everything is suited for wheelchair users. The apartment is|simple (linoleum floors) and not very cosy but is very clean and has everything you need. Kitchen corner has fridge (unfortunately no little freezer part for ice cubes), oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and all the bits you need in|A kitchen. Small dining area, access to a balcony, nice view, large bathroom (with emergency cord!), toilets flushed with rainwater, towels. Lounge area with seating for 4 people and little lamps everywhere to make it cozier in the evening. It even has a CD player and TV. The 2 bedrooms are fine and mattresses medium firm, everything clean and fresh. Wardrobes to hang stuff up. The apartment is under the roof so quite a lot of slanted ceilings, our|Boys were not used to it so banged their heads a lot! Location is excellent, close to Mercado shopping centre and all the restaurants, bars, bakeries etc. also super close to Altona station. They do your laundry for you for 5 Euro. Staff varied in friendliness, younger guy really friendly, older lady sometimes nice but then also quite brash and not very welcoming. This kind of place needs more chilled, friendly, warm staff. Simple but thus well-prices. |All in all we would probably come again.

My family and I have stayed at this great place several times. It's so nice- clean, tidy. Lovely, bright big rooms. Perfect location- quiet at night but very close to shops/bars/restaurants. The beds are extremely comfortable. Highly recommend!

The hostel is really clean and quiet. But does not have too many facilities. It does not have a gym (google lies). You can not use the kitchen from the hostel. It tends to be boring. Not for a backpacker interested in meet people. The area where it is located have a lot of services and food places.

a lovely hostel in a lovely neighborhood. Friendly staff. Super clean. Super quiet. Absolutely good. A garden. Organic, vegan, vegetarian optional restaurant. A big non vegan breakfast . 5*****.|After the nightmare of the generator hostel, it was like being in paradise.

I didn't try the WiFi nor breakfast, as we spent almost the entire day outside. The surrounding area has everything you need. The hostel itself is easy - going, clean and the rooms are very spacious as they are wheelchair - friendly. Overall there was nothing I could complain about on our Friday till Sunday stay at Schanzenstern.
