We recently stayed at Hotel Schweizerhof in St. Moritz with my parents and had a generally pleasant stay, with a few areas that could be improved.
The highlights were definitely the breakfast and the location. The breakfast buffet had an excellent variety, and the egg station was particularly good. Our room was comfortable, with updated furnishings and a modern bathroom. The hotel’s location is also a big plus (right in the center of town and very easy to walk to shops and restaurants).
That said, a few aspects of the service and facilities fell short of expectations for a hotel of this category. While the staff were polite, service felt somewhat hands-off. My mother has limited mobility and struggles with walking uphill, and although the hotel has a car they use to transport guests from the train station, we were advised to call a taxi up to the base of the funicular (a 3-minute drive but at a steep incline) rather than being offered assistance. A short ride would have made a big difference for her comfort.
The spa area could also use attention. The showers had a noticeable odor (urine or sour) and the relaxation room smelled strongly of cooking, likely from a nearby kitchen vent, which made it difficult to relax without our robes and towels absorbing the smell of frying oil/meat. The steam room was also not functioning properly, and although we informed staff, it still wasn’t working when we checked again the following day.
Overall, the hotel has a great location and comfortable rooms, but a bit more attention to service details and spa maintenance would significantly improve the experience.
