Hotel Schynige Platte

Yes, the views were spectacular. The 4 course dinner was delicious, but you had better like what they are serving that night because there are no other choices. We had a beautiful mixed salad and a dinner roll (had to ask for butter). Delicious cauliflower soup. Pork loin with fresh vegetables. Dessert was a merengue and pudding. |Our room was on a corner and had views of Grindelwald and the surrounding mountains which were gorgeous, especially at sunrise. The room was freezing cold though, and l was grateful for a portable radiator in the room. However, the power was cut to it overnight (I awoke at midnight and it was stone cold and I was unable to turn it on). That made it uncomfortable for me to sleep. Magically in the morning it came back on. Also, 10 rooms shared 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 1 shower, and there wasn't any water source in our room.|Breakfast was cold cereal and breads with cold cuts. They had a delicious assortment of honeys, my favorite being the edelweiss honey. |The cogwheel train up and down was nostalgic and fun and offered great views. |3/5 because of the cold room and shared facilities.|

My stay at Hotel Schynige Platte was a lovely experience overall. The hotel is situated in a picturesque location, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape, which adds to its charm. One of the standout features of my stay was the service. The staff was exceptionally kind, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Another highlight of my visit was the amazing four-course dinner. Each course was well-prepared and beautifully presented, showcasing a range of flavors that was very tasty. It was a wonderful culinary experience that I highly recommend. In addition to the dinner, the breakfast buffet was impressive. It offered a variety of options, ensuring that there was something for everyone. The regional selection made for a great start to the day. Overall, Hotel Schynige Platte provides a fantastic blend of great service, excellent dining options, and a beautiful setting.

Such a lovely quaint place full of charm. The breakfast buffet is not to be missed! It’s a great way to fuel up for the hike ahead & take in some beautiful views.

Great location to enjoy the best of Berner Oberland off the beaten path. Cute rooms, decorated in Alpine chic style. The hotel is older vintage, but the restaurant has been upgraded and offers amazing views on the mountains. The views from the rooms are also breathtaking, if you get one to the south to the side.|We stayed one night and then hiked to Grindelwald First. There are multiple hiking paths on Schynige Platte at various lengths and difficulties.

The rooms are very quaint and the bathroom is shared. The door to the room is very annoying to lock and unlock. The meal was nice. The service at the restaurant was rather cold and not very “grandma” like. The breakfast was typical continental and didn’t have very many hot options. If I visited the region again I would not stay again, I am ok only experiencing it once.

We really enjoyed our stay at Schynige Platte despite the "interesting" weather we had.|I loved the decorations, very nicely done, each room is unique. It actually feels like staying in an old-fashioned chalet with the washbowls and pitchers in each room and reminded me of my childhood when we used to stay in such a chalet witout running water.|The view, of course, is fantastic, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau from the bedroom window.|Dinner was served in the restaurant in very interesting vessels, such as sauce boats for the soup and sugar bowls for the dessert. It was really nice. The only, very small complaint I would have is that it took over 2 hours for four courses to be served. Maybe I am just not French enough for a slow dinner though.

Wow! This place is magical! We have been in the Jungfrau Region for over 10days and as a hotel guest, the dinner has been, by far, the best! The 4 course dinner was impeccable- extremely well done. The hotel rooms are very quaint, the owner is very friendly and the staff have been great! We have 3 kids who have loved the playground and hikes nearby. What an experience! The views are absolutely incredibly! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! DO. NOT. MISS!

Incredible location, nice room, good food but slow service. Some of the staff were helpful but some were not very warm or welcoming to English speaking guests. The views and location made up for everything else. Rooms are comfortable but note that bathroom and shower facilities are shared with other rooms.
