"I found Hotel Sct. Thomas to be the most luxurious option near Frederiksberg, with a rooftop terrace offering incredible city views, and if you book directly the luscious breakfast buffet is complimentary; rooms include desks, armchairs, AC, and international TV channels." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Copenhagen (Updated2025)

"I found Hotel Sct. Thomas to be a solid three-star, renovated in 2024 and located a short walk from Central Station and Tivoli Gardens in Vesterbro. Rooms are compact but functional with a cozy Danish-inspired design (taupe and sage-green walls, hardwood or parquet floors), and include a flatscreen TV, small desk, clothes rack, and free Wi‑Fi. Bathrooms are small but showers have decent water pressure; mornings feature a tasty organic breakfast of fresh bread, fruit, and pastries. The hotel has a chic lobby bar and a rooftop terrace with a bar and a sauna (you must book and pay to use it), making it a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly choice." - Matthew Kepnes

Great location to explore Copenhagen but away from the noisy & crowded tourist center. Plenty of buses, restaurants and coffee shops within a couple of blocks. Housekeeping every day kept the room nice and clean. Great to have a two twin bed option although the room was on the smaller side, so it was a little cramped with two adults and suitcases, and there’s only one chair. Bath products were a bit lacking, it’s just one shampoo body wash combo product and no conditioner.

FAVORITE hotel in CPH||Staff is kind, attentive, helpful & accommodating; hotel is exceptionally clean& comfortable. Location can’t be beat. The rooftop terrace offers magnificent views & a cosy place to chat with friends/family. Breakfast is great and the renovation is spot-on. If they’re booked, I’d rather change my schedule because i love staying here. Locked my bag in the hotel while waiting for a taxi at 5am and one call got it opened automatically so i didn’t miss my flight. Thank you for always providing a lovely stay! See you soon!

The reception staff were very welcoming, which was a positive start. The room was a Junior Suite — nice enough, but with a very small bathroom. Breakfast was a real disappointment. Poor bake-off bread — why not serve some proper sourdough when there are so many great bakeries in town? I asked for a flat white but couldn’t get one. The boiled cocktail sausages reminded me of those skinless Plumrose ones — a truly poor product. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend booking this hotel, especially not at the price they charge.

I had a lovely stay here. The staff were genuinely kind and friendly — they made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was | good, with everything you might need to start the day. The room was cozy and pleasant, though it felt a bit cold sometimes. The bathroom was very clean, though there was a slight smell. Overall, it’s a comfortable place with a warm atmosphere and great people — I’d be happy to come back.

We stayed here last month. It’s a sweet, well-kept hotel and overall our experience was excellent. The rooms are great; the only quibble is that the bathroom feels unnecessarily large, so the room itself could have been a bit bigger. We also missed having a mini-fridge. What truly sets this place apart is the staff — extremely friendly, attentive, and willing to help with absolutely anything. Wonderful people. We would definitely book the same hotel again and warmly recommend it to others!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome with their warm smiles and service. The check-in process was smooth and fast, and they were always ready to help with any questions I had during my stay.||The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained, with great attention to detail. Housekeeping did an excellent job every day.

My husband and I stayed in late April for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The bed was very comfortable and the room was the perfect size for us. Breakfast was delicious and very cozy. The hotel itself is in a lovely area that is close enough to public transportation while not being in the middle of a bunch tourist destinations. All of the staff were very kind and we had the best time in Copenhagen! We will definitely be back!

A truly delightful experience from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful, with cozy decor and peaceful spaces that invite relaxation. The room was spacious and comfortable for a couple, and impeccably clean. Right upon arrival, the soothing music in the lobby set a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. The breakfast was a real highlight — varied, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. The staff also deserves praise: kind, attentive, and always focused on ensuring guests feel well taken care of. For those who like to explore, there are bikes available right in front of the hotel — a great touch. And for unwinding, the rooftop terrace is a true gem, offering a stunning view, a sauna, and even an ice bath — perfect for relaxing after a busy day. It's in the center, so you can do everything on foot (if you prefer). If you don't want to, there is a metro station very close to the hotel. I recommend the hotel 100%.

Yelp
Just be aware that everything in Europe is SMALL, and Denmark is no exception. If you're from America and used to sprawling hotel rooms - don't be. With that understanding I was delighted with this gorgeous hotel in the Fredericksberg area of Copenhagen. We were two adults in a room, and I'd compare the size of the bed to a small Queen. The bed completely filled the room with a bit of space between the end and the door to the bathroom. There was a round table which was nice for having a place to set things, but took up a lot of room. I'd say the bed was alright, definitely not the most comfortable thing ever, but perfectly fine when you were exhausted from walking around all day! The room had several outlets (just remember to grab a converter!) and beautiful windows that opened to Fredericksberg Alle and since it was June we tended to leave them open all day because there is no air conditioning. There is, however, a large radiator for the winter time so I don't think you'd be cold. There was a small nook in the corner that served as a closet (a very short hanging rack for hangers / no door, but a nice out of the way place to store the suitcases). Along one wall was a padded bench that we also used for storage. We were there to see my friend's family and so I can attest that all residences have TINY bathrooms and this hotel is no exception. You could literally sit on the toilet and put your feet in the shower (which had no lip and we got water everywhere). The sink is also extremely tiny with no counterspace, but once you adjust to not having your things set out, it's fine. Honestly, this place is small, and takes some adjustment, but it's quaint and gorgeous and the staff is SO nice and speaks pretty good English. You also get a complimentary breakfast every morning with some breads from Lagkagehuset (YUM), butter/spread, meats, yogurt, fruit preserves, coffee, juice, milk, tea, and water. It was A) a fantastic way to save money and B) a great start to the day. I'd definitely recommend this hotel again!

Yelp
Copenhagen can be an expensive city, but this hotel will give you great value right outside the heart of the city. It's located right by the 26 bus line, so you shouldn't have a problem getting around, and only about 10 mins from the central train station if you're coming to and from the airport. Side note: Don't ever take a taxi from the airport, the train systems are brilliant and everything is in English. The room is small but the wifi is good (We were on the 5th floor) and that's sometimes a lot to ask. What makes this a 3-star and possibly even a 2-star hotel are simple things like the freshness of your room, and accommodating hallway odors that you typically wouldn't at higher end hotels.. Like my mother always said, you get what you pay for. We had to air out our room every time we entered from our daily adventures. We had such a busy itinerary in Copenhagen that we were frankly to exhausted to care about the odor in our room at the end of the night, but if I were to do it over, I'd read a few more reviews before booking here. Yes it is cheap, yes the rooms are decent, and yes the wifi is good. But if you don't have a busy itinerary and you aren't easy going like me, this wouldn't be your cup of tea. I give it 3-stars because it could have been a one time thing, and perhaps the rooms smell good during other times of the year. If so, then this place is actually a steal because the location is good and the staff is friendly.

Yelp
This place is very much a three star hotel but depending on your needs it can be a great place to stay. Firstly, Copenhagen is crazy expensive and everything is very small so that's something to keep in mind. This was one of the few places I found that could house 4 adults (also meaning able to have more than 1 queen sized bed in a room) that was also sort of centrally located. The single sized beds are smaller than a twin. You will have NO room to move. Key word: sort of. It's a good 20-30 minute walk into the central part of town where most of the tourist attractions are which can be a pain in the bitter Danish wind. There's also no good metro connection which is the main issue as I'm not a huge fan of taking the bus. Another con is the bathroom. There are no towel racks or counters anywhere which I thought odd because they could actually fit them if they wanted to. There's also an all purpose hand soap, shampoo and body wash. You get the picture. Lastly, there are no phones in the room which means everytime you need something you have to walk down to reception to get it which is sort of big inconvenience no matter what floor you're on. However, as I mentioned, it's a pretty good value for the price, and the staff are also very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also pretty bomb, with lots of delicious types of bread, charcuterie, pate, fruit, chocolate and cinnamon pastries. On a budget, it's not a bad option especially if you don't mind long walks. Next time, though, I'd probably choose somewhere closer to the city center.

Yelp
Beware, this hotel is not operated by what I would consider to be reputable management. I had booked six nights, non-refundable, for my wife, grandson and myself. Two weeks before we were schedules to depart on our trip WOW airlines, our booked carrier, ended all operations. I searched for replacement flights, but was not able to find any that were within a reasonable price range. So, I contracted Bookings.com and asked if, due to the circumstances, some type of a refund would be possible. They called me back to say the manager of the hotel said no. Thanking them, I called the hotel myself to plead my case. I have traveled extensive across North America and Europe, never experiencing a response such as this so I hoped a full explanation would help. It did not. I was connected with Charlotte, the hotel manager, who I explained the situation, noting it was outside of my control. She would not hear it and simply stated it was a non-refundable reservation. Her rudeness and lack of customer service really surprised me. No matter what I said she just stuck to her position. It was obvious to me, she had my money and she was not going to give it or a portion of it back in a refund. If this is the way they treat their customers, I would beware.

Yelp
The hotel was lovely. Small but the layout was very comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Location was close to attractions. Very clean hotel.

Yelp
I can deal with a small room. I can also deal with a tiny bathroom. I can even deal with a diminutive sink. But I will not deal with the dust, the noise, and the two inch "mattress". With so many other competitive rates and much better options, there's no way to justify the relatively high price, problematic wi-fi, questionable cleanliness, and inconvenient location.
