A truly lovely gem of a hotel. Warm friendly welcome by the owner, who’s wife had just had a baby earlier that day, but he was still supremely attentive even though he was clearly exhausted!
The room we had was generously proportioned and beautifully furnished - a wonderful combination of subdued fresh calm and solid French antiques. Huge comfy bed, massive shower with good water pressure. An absolute delight.
We just had a one night stopover on our way back to Calais from the Limousin, and it is perfectly placed. Less than 10 minutes off the A1, and 2 hours from the Eurotunnel.
The one and only negative was that the prices were a bit high for our evening meal, which was good, simple fare in a lovely setting, but didn’t quite warrant the cost. We also had to pay 15€ for our dog, which seemed a bit steep.
The gardens really are a delight. We didn’t use the pool, though it looked very inviting. For a longer stay we would take advantage of it, and of the croquet set.
We will certainly return!
