Upon booking at first i thought this apt-hotel was directly across the street from the waterfront, however, it's actually just behind the Crown Plaza Hotel and Casino on a side street, so it's not across the street from the water at all, but only a short walk away. Whenever we got in a taxi to return to the hotel, we always told the taxi driver to just drop us off in front of Crown Plaza hotel which was just easier for everybody. Our room actually faced the North, so our view was not so spectacular of the city, just the back side of buildings and homes. if you want a waterfront veiw, has to be a south facing room above the 4th floor. we didn't ask for the room change because we knew they would just charge us more...so we stayed in the room we were assigned, which was #404.||There is no Wi-fi signal in the bedroom, but in the dining room however it was ok on my ipad. Fast enough to do what i needed and i even watched youtube videos ok....||||the place is very safe, clean, and secure. no worries at all about that..the staff was friendly, and helpful, there is a really good restaurant on the northern corner called Villar HRNOS (Villar brothers) it is a restaurant, bakery, sandwich deli coffee shop...all rolled into one. We found ourselves eating there almost daily....great breakfast omelettes and sandwhiches, and dinner cafeteria line. really good food at great price. usually filled with people....so dont be afraid to ask any waiter for whatever you want as there technically is no assigned waiter to a particular table...there is a method to the madness so just dont be shy to ask for what you want. was weird at first, but entertaining after we got used to the order of business.||||there is also a little Colmado (convinience store) by the hotel is where we bought our liquor and coke to make drinks in the room.||||the location of Hotel Shakey was actually perfect because we were halfway between the colonial zone and the new side of the city.
