Hotel Shangai

Stayed one night before traveling to the field. Wonderful location and good food and clean room with reasonable price. A hot shower was available in the room.

The hotel is simple but quite clean. There is no lift so be prepared to up a lot of stairs, if like us you end up with a room on the 4th floor. Wifi in the restaurant and in the rooms so this is surely a plus sign. Within walking distance you find a number of shops with souvenirs and also a very good chocolate shop called Roberts. Highly recommended.

This is a great budget hotel at around €20 a night. Once you get past the curtains and bedspread (please guys change the curtains and bedspreads you would update your rooms so easily with some modern fabric) the bed was comfy and clean.||||I confess, I actually choose to stay here when I am tired because there is plenty of hot water and a deep bath to relax in, something that a lot of the more expensive hotels do not have.

This is definitely the worst hotel we've stayed in during our 5 weeks in Madagascar! When we arrived there was still pee on the toilet seat.. There also was some food laying behind the curtains.. Also the bathtub was very dirty. So they definitely did not clean the room wel. Since we were very tired and late we ordered food for in the room. The food was tasteless.. The only pro of this room is that it had good working WiFi on the room.

I ended up at this hotel by default because everywhere else was full. It was a not unpleasant surprise. Very friendly staff, decent food (although 30% surcharge to eat in your room), a tiny garden to sit in, and, although the rooms are pretty tired, my bed was fine, the mattress was ok, bed linen was ok (although please Shangai, get rid of those horrible bedspreads they really need to GO)... and the little terrace off the bedroom was a nice treat. All in all I think I have found a new favourite little haunt in Tana, for 60,000 ariary a night you can't beat the room, the location, the friendly staff, and the hot water. I stayed 5 nights and was not tempted to leave.

We stay around that neighbourhood. So for a Chinese restaurant, it is quite descent. Not big portions and If you order main dishes, you can choose rice/ veg... for free. Service was fast and friendly . Outside table in the cout yard looks good but can have mozzie around... ||we had a small beer for 3000/ and one chicken with vegetables for 13,000

I stayed in this hotel for a few nights for family visits and some business. The view from the fourth floor was good. The hotel is not far from Antaninarenina, and Analakely. French Embassy is just a few hundred meters away. You can just walk to any direction you would want to go.

Clean and friendly, safe; they really look after their guests. Nice little garden. ||Rooms ok , nice with balcony however we missed chairs. Excellent with safes in the rooms. Bathrooms ok.||Location good in the middle town.
