Hotel Shanker - Palatial Heritage Kathmandu

Our experience was exceptional and we would rank the hotel 5*! I went with my old parents and <10 yr old daughter and stayed 3 nights. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless (7th floor), the beds were super comfy, AC worked very well, the hotel truly felt like a palace with its exceptional decor. The room had all the amenities you expect from a 5* hotel. The breakfast and la carte menu dinner were excellent too. The staff was super helpful for anything you would need. The free airport transfer was helpful. The swimming pool and area was also very clean and welcoming. The location was excellent as well. I would definitely stay here again!

Heritage hotel with comfortable bed and amazing food . The bar was amazing too and I loved their deals for the happy hour. Nice pool too. Recommend using plastic glasses at the bar pool so that drinks can be enjoyed while swimming . Highly recommended.

Our stay at Hotel Shankar in Kathmandu was truly delightful. From the moment we arrived, the bellboy and security guard gave us a warm welcome. The check-in process was smooth, and since we were quite tired, we requested to pay on the last day — they kindly agreed, which was very considerate. The hotel itself is beautiful. The lobby and corridors are elegant and aesthetically pleasing. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we appreciated how quickly they responded to our requests for extra slippers, tissues, and other essentials. Their commitment to cleanliness and service really stood out. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was also satisfying and well worth it. On top of that, we tried their room dining service and highly recommend the Nepali mutton thali — it was absolutely delicious! The location is another big plus, being close to the city centre and major attractions. We stayed for two nights and genuinely enjoyed every moment. Hopefully, we’ll be back again.

Came for birthday one night stay and it was perfect. Swimming pool was warm, perfect for our kids, they decorated room for our birthday with yummy cake. Hospitality was immaculate. Will visit again, food was delicious, breakfast buffet had lots of variety and delicious

Hotel Shanker is a beautiful old palace with good facilities. The staff is great and very service minded. And this experience is very consistent over the years by my own experience. Definitely recommended !

We often return to this hotel with its charming castle building. Peaceful location with a nice garden and a wonderful pool area. Close to the center and Thamel. Nice rooms, very good breakfast. In the Kailash restaurant you eat well, lots to choose from. A visit to the bar is not a bad thing. Excellent service and very nice and helpful staff. My wife and I stayed here for a night and it was our honeymoon. Overall had a great experience. We had requested a minor room decoration in advance, but unfortunately, it wasn’t done by the time we arrived. We were told it could be arranged in a few hours, but that did take away a bit from the initial impression. That said, everything else about the stay more than made up for it. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional throughout. The hotel itself has an amazing vibe—elegant, charming, and full of character. Being in a beautifully preserved heritage building adds a unique touch that really sets it apart. Plus, the location is super convenient, close to everything you’d want to explore in the area. Would definitely recommend, just a little more attention to special requests would make it perfect.
