Review:
I recently stayed at Shivalik View Hotel, and while the location is decent, the property itself has clearly started to show its age.
The room condition was disappointing. The washroom lock was broken, making it impossible to lock the door. The washroom itself was very small. Although the room had an attached balcony, the balcony door would get stuck against the floor while opening, making the balcony difficult to access. The cupboards and almirahs did not close properly, and the paintwork in the room appeared rough and unfinished.
Parking was another inconvenience. While the hotel does have a large parking area, there was no free spot available at the time of my arrival. Instead of managing the vehicle themselves—which is generally expected from a hotel of this category by taking the car keys and adjusting parking internally—I was repeatedly asked to move my car from one place to another due to parking constraints. This was inconvenient and avoidable.
The staff, unfortunately, did not feel very welcoming or proactive in handling these concerns, which further affected the overall experience.
I paid ₹4,500 including breakfast, but in my opinion, the room quality and services do not justify this price. I would recommend this hotel only if the tariff is around ₹3,000 including breakfast. Anything beyond that does not offer value for money in its current condition.
Overall, the hotel requires better maintenance and improved guest handling to match the prices being charged.
