11 Best Hotels in Oaxaca, Mexico for 2025

"It’s hard not to be in awe of Hotel Sin Nombre’s courtyard and central common area. Illuminated by its atrium ceiling, the sunken living room is framed by stone archways and linen curtains that provide texture and visual interest. Potted plants offer pops of green, and neutral hand-woven rugs from Teotitlán del Valle add to the warmth of the space. In the rooms, the neutral palette of the hotel’s common areas is contrasted with murals by Carlito Dalceggio and photos by “El Negro,” an Oaxacan photographer who showcases the Oaxacan coast’s Afro-Mexican culture. The hotel’s rooftop lap pool is a vibey place to get to know other travelers, and its bar, Cantinita, is a favorite of locals in Oaxaca."

The hotel is in the center of town, easily accessible and walking distance to many sights and shops. As soon as you step through the entry of the hotel, you are in a quiet and tranquil space where you can unwind and cool down on the roof terrace or by the pool. The service from the staff was perfect. Everyone was friendly and professional. The rooms and beds were comfortable. We stayed on the upper floor which was quiet. I definitely recommend this boutique hotel for charm and tranquility.

Very quiet and clean. The a/c worked really well. The room was cold and clean. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar options. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wish we would have brought our swimsuits and booked more massage sessions. Would have loved to done yoga on the terrace.

Loved our stay at Sin Nombre!! We came for a friend’s wedding and it was absolutely stunning. The staff was so friendly and accommodating - they really went above and beyond with everything! The food was also amazing and the pool deck was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!

Staying in this hotel ruined our vacation!||Let's start with the positive:|The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating, the inner courtyard is charming, complimentary breakfast is delicious and generous, location is central.||Now to the many issues: |*We booked a total of 3 rooms for our family of five and had to move 4 times. So we saw almost all the rooms in the hotel. |- The rooms are clean as long as it does not rain...once it rains the sewage system floods and ground level rooms are infested with the largest cockroaches I have ever seen. We had to flee our ground level room and move to the upper level at midnight because of this issue. The cause of infestation is not an assumption but the explanation that was given by the hotel. |- Hotel is a couple of blocks away from the main market which means the street outside the hotel is noisy, dirty and overall looks run-down.|- Multiple rooms do not have windows or exposure to daylight! So you might end up with a room that feels like a cave.|- Street facing rooms are VERY VERY noisy. We had to move a room because of that. |- Bathroom doors in all the rooms are louvered shutter doors, which mean there is no noise or scent insulation.  Not many couples can survive this lack of privacy...|- Showering in all the rooms included a "delightful" combination of low water pressure with unexpected bursts of scalding water followed by cold water.  |- A couple of the rooms had issues with the AC. This is because the units were too small for effective cooling of the spaces. Not my words but the explanation that was given by the hotel. We had to move a room because of the heat and humidity. |- All the towels look like rags. They are frayed and grayish. Towel supply is inconsistent: sometimes we received hand towels and sometimes not.|- Lighting in all rooms is very dim, so I had to use muscle memory to apply my makeup on. |- Some rooms did not have outlets next to the bed.|- Some rooms did not have anywhere to sit on except for the bed

Airy, beautiful old hacienda renovated/updated to be a hotel. The little touches really make this place sing - the doors to your room and the four sided key, the "courtyard" sitting area, the local artistry, the hammocks, spiral staircase... The rooftop restaurant area is beautiful. Since it's rare to have buildings with more than two or three floors in Oaxaca, the views are great so definitely plan to have a drink/ meal up there twice - once during the day and once at night. When it got cool in the evening, the staff brought out a shawl for my wife. The little bar attached to the hotel is fantastic to have a drink after a long day of wandering, too. Staff (and pretty much everybody we encountered during our stay for that matter) was very nice. ||The only downside was our room didn't have much in the way of storage areas - no closet or dresser for clothes meant our suitcases were just out the whole time and made the room feel a bit cramped, not that we spent much time there. Oh, and the water cooler thing in the hallway had a rosemary infusion. Rosemary water? Hard pass hah. ||I would definitely recommend this spot.

The service we received at the restaurant was absolutely impecable. Food was delicious and portions generous. |We loved Aixa she made our day every day she has the warmest personality and smile. Last day we met Diego by the bar he went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of. Tony also went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed and has great recommendations.

Such an amazing staff. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. The rooms and hotel were so beautiful with every aspect and detail thoughtfully crafted. The location also couldn’t be beat - right in the middle of the city center with so much within walking distance.

Beautiful boutiques hotel. Staff is super friendly. Rooms are nice and fairly spacious. Bed are comfy! Lovely breakfast included on the rooftop restaurant. Only complaint is I could hear the restaurant from my room so it was a little noisy at times. But they close down pretty early so it was fine.
