The spot to stay for your Sintra visit. It’s nice, cozy, well placed (situated) and perfect for relaxing after walks in the mystical woods that surround Sintras top spots. We stayed for three nights and had rain almost the whole time, however, the hotel staff and amenities were good and we could dry and warm ourselves at night with a drink in the hotel bar, and a round of chess in the common areas. (Electric furnace in the room also helped) The hotel is around 150 years old, but is well maintained and cared for. The garden is amazing and if you go here, I hope you get to enjoy the pool. (As we did not, due to the weather) Attached is a picture of the sunniest day - (checkout day) :(

Beautiful house and garden, very nice and welcoming staff. Calm and peaceful. Would recommend to anyone who plan to visit Sintra!

Really lovely family hotel, very nice historic building. Our only complaint is that we got given the smallest and objectively worst room in the hotel. We got a glance at other rooms, and they are really nice and spacious, we just got the short end of the straw! The rooms aren’t very well noise isolated, so you can hear other tenants in the neighbouring rooms are talking about. However, this is to be expected, as the building is really old and has an old-time, romantic vibe to it!

Excellent hotel in good location with parking for smaller cars. Mena (I think she was the owner), was so nice, delightful and helpful. She even found us a fan and cleaned it up so I had white noise while I sleep. Be sure to walk the back streets, very amazing. There are walking paths that go by Hans Christian Anderson house and take you to Moorish castle and Pena that are amazing. I liked the walks more than the crowded Pena palace. Nearby restaurant Nau Palatina had gourmet tapas at outrageously good prices. Ones look like sevens and I thought the 1.95 tapas were 7.95, I was amazed when it truly was 1.95.

This is a wonderful hotel. Nice older building with older furniture but very comfortable. Has a large pool and beautiful grounds. Many people mention the location is a short walk to the old town which is true but it feels like a long walk uphill when you return after a day of hiking up and down the hills of Sintra at all the attractions. Large room. Breakfast was adequate.

This 150 year old manor is really a stunning place to be. Some of the rooms are small and some are very large, you just have to plan if size matters. Nevertheless, this place has beautiful balconies, marble staircases, ornate antique furniture everywhere, a study with parquay floors, another sitting rooms with a fireplace, dining room, lap pool and up on the hill where the conservatory was, it has been turned into a little game room. The garden grounds are beautiful as well. If I have a complaint it is only that the towels did not have fabric softener and it is literally like sandpaper, other than that I would come here again and again.

Old villa, beautifully restored. We checked in late and the person who opened the gate waited up for us. Check in was smooth and the room was super spacious and well decorated. They gave us the whole apartment rather than a room. Beautiful location.

Stayed during low season. Double bedroom with private bathroom. The quaint 150 year old building and the rooms and their decoration are excellent. When I checked in late, the receptionist politely but fully explained everything about our stay and gave us directions to the main sights and public bus numbers. Entering the rooms, with the creaking of wooden floors in your ears, you are greeted by a truly lovely design. Musky incense wafts through the building, giving it a uniform look. There are two living rooms in the building that could be used for reading or quiet conversation, and the interior design, furniture and furnishings of each are quaint and very nice. They were available until 23:00 in the evening. Breakfast is served in a lovely room that opens onto a terrace with a fireplace and access to the pool and small garden. It is a simple buffet, but the great thing is that as soon as you sit down at your table, they bring you a fresh pot of coffee and a good crispy loaf of bread (a loaf of bread and a Portuguese croissant). The service was very nice, like a five-star hotel. Local network connectivity is difficult in the area, but there is WiFi in every room and it worked fine. Check-out went smoothly. Everything was impressively nice and lovely. I wish I could come back here one day. <Satisfaction> Lovely garden, nice breakfast room with breakfast, close to Moor Castle (less than 10 minutes walk to the top), cheap out of season, some rooms with bath. <Dissatisfaction> No hot water after a while when the bath was filled to a certain level. The shower temperature also remained warm (not hot enough to warm the body in winter).

Yelp
We stayed here a week with two surly, grumpy teenagers and ended up having a great time despite their energy. The hotel is wonderful, the continental breakfast is great, the pool and grounds are terrific, and you're a ten-minute walk from downtown Sintra (both the tourist one and the local one, albeit in opposite directions). There's also a ten-minute walk towards a smaller, quieter neighborhood that offers several great bars, cafes, and restaurants that are quieter, for those who want to avoid crowds but still find great local eats. The staff at the hotel are all warm, engaging, and helpful, whatever your needs may be.

Yelp
One of the better stays on our two week trek through Azores and Portugal mainland. The hotel has a feel of an old home in the southern US, with high ceilings and a wonderful terrace view of the gardens and pool. Very walkable to Sintra and a trail up to Pena Castle. Food was great.
