A great hotel within walking and driving distance to the glaciers. The hotel is peaceful and surrounded by raw beauty. ||All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The rooms comfortable and clean. The restaurant was outstanding and we had a great dinner and breakfast during our visit. Ample parking available. ||My only regret is we didn't stay for an extra night at the hotel. I would have loved to explore the trails from the hotel to the glacier a little more. Would highly recommend visiting Hotel Skaftafell!

The hotel was lovely, and it had many warm and inviting touches. The restaurant had excellent food, and the views were breathtaking. The room itself was quiet basic, and you can hear everyone else coming and going, but the bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The location was perfect, and we would stay there again.

Great location and nice hotel. Rooms were comfortable, although could've had more outlets and done a better job with blackout curtains. Dinner was expensive, but amazingly good quality - best meal we had in Iceland. Breakfast was good. If you stay here and have time, take the brief hike from the back of the hotel to see the glacier/mountains etc. Absolutely stunning. We were lucky with good clear weather.

We spent one night at Hotel Skaftafell. The location is very convenient to Skaftafell area of the Vatnajökull National Park where we hiked to Svartifoss the next morning.|We did not dine at the hotel that evening, but chose from the options at the gas station across the road.|The breakfast the next morning was very good.|Minor complaints: Our hotel room was left with the bathroom heater on when we arrived, so the room was quite warm. The windows cannot be secured in the open position during high winds (which is what we had most of evening), so our room was warm and stuffy until later in the night (when the winds died down).

Stayed for one night on around-Iceland trip. Good location for seeing glaciers in the south. Can walk to view one from hotel (30 mins). Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms ok with smallish shower (be careful as the shower floor is slippery). Typical two single bed set up, small table, small tv. Breakfast and bar ok.

Wonderful place. Very quiet. We saw the Northern lights from the room!|Very nice staff. We liked the breakfast very much too. |The "backyard" is a stunning glaciar you can see from your room. You can also go for a nice walk around. Do not miss this spot!

This hotel is not luxurious but very welcoming thanks to its staff and the breathtaking landscape! Just behind the building there is unforgettable trekking of 10/15’ to the glacier’s view that was really worth it. Additionally, we want to truly thank Pedro for helping us with our car, without him we would have not been able to continue our journey!

Hotels are expensive on Iceland so, lower your expectations for what you might expect. That being said; This was our best hotel so far on this trip. (We stayed in the North building.) The restaurant and breakfast were also nice.
