Hotel Skaftafell

The rooms are small, tidy, functional. Nothing special. Base camp for hikes. Clean, warm and beyond that nothing to write home about. In that sense a little over priced. |||There is a small bar and a restaurant, both furnished for convenience rather than originality or style or beauty. As a result the latter was a surprise. The menu is not extensive, but there ae options. We ordered a Viking platter to share as well as two mains: the fish and the chicken. The food was excellent! Nothing I like I would have expected given the simplicity of the facilities. Our only suggestion: be a little more flexible. If two people are sharing a platter and are asking for a little more bread would it really hurt to add two more pieces of flat bread?

Amazing hotel! I’ve spent 2 nights here. The room is quite wide. I do love the warm floor, the outside is very cold but when I come to a room, I feel very cozy. Last thing I will highly recommend you is the very wonderful food at the restaurant here. It’s fresh and tasty!

Very pleasant stay here the last two nights. The first night we dined in the restaurant very good food. Bar upstairs offered great views , very nice bartender, and piano player! Get the northern lights for a drink delicious. Very nice breakfast at 7:00 with nice selection as well.

We had the pleasure of staying at the lovely Hotel Skaftafell for two nights. Our room was really cosy and basic, a tiny simple spartan old-fashioned, with two beds. The room was clean. ||It's got everything you could possibly need if you're just looking to relax and unwind. The room was so warm and cosy, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! It wasn't the most luxurious place, but after a day of exploring, hiking and driving, all you want to do is rest your bones for a few hours, right?|The staff are absolutely lovely and so friendly!||The location is absolutely perfect! It's a fantastic place to start the journey to discover some truly incredible nearby attractions! ||There aren't many other places to stay in the area, so eventually you'll have to accept a basic room for higher price in this hotel.

Fantastic stay at Hotel Skaftafell! Our group of 20 had an incredible stay at Hotel Skaftafell! The rooms were spacious, beautifully maintained, and extremely comfortable, offering the perfect space to relax after exploring the breathtaking surroundings. The breakfast was truly out of this world, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that we all loved. The service was exceptional, and we’d like to give a special shoutout to Pedro Riveiro, who went above and beyond to make sure our group was well taken care of. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made our stay even more enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to returning in a few months and highly recommend Hotel Skaftafell to anyone visiting this stunning part of Iceland!

Rooms are quite basic. The quality of the breakfast was low, boiled eggs were not fresh, no skyr. Dinner was overpriced and didn’t taste great. The vegetables were cold and ingredients tasted quite cheap. This was specially for the higher price quite disappointing. Interior of the hotel seems rather like a hostel.

We stayed at Hotel Skaftafell for one night. I didn't like it as well as other places we stayed. We were in a tiny room in the older part of the hotel and it just felt cramped and dingy. It was tiny enough that it felt uncomfortable and claustrophobic. It was very clean. The bed and linens were fine, the bathroom was very clean and serviceable. A small table that was way too big for the space and 2 chairs took up the remaining space. There was a tiny closet. |We ate dinner there. The food was hot and nothing to remember. Breakfast offered more choices and was fine.

We stayed in Hotel Skaftafell for one night and saw the aurora here. Our third-party travel agent stranded us in the area, and the front desk manager here was super friendly and resourceful in helping us to resolve the situation. Clean, quiet, and pleasant stay. Great location.
