It was okay. I was excited for the location, I wa not expecting a room with a view directed to the waterfalls but also not a room with the view on staff deposit.
Anyhow, the location is awesome, amazing just waking up and visiting the waterfall as first thing of the day when tourists are still on the road. However, it felt a little bit like a tourist trap. It's quite more expensive than all the other places we stayed (because of the location and the great position to visit the south west coast), but the room is very "unpersonalized" and can be improved: e.g., given the geothermal water, hot water form the sink is not drinkable; i would maybe recommend to add a boiler in each room so that it is possible to warm up cold water and drink tee in the room or fill in flasks before hiking without using the one coffee machine in the corridor - somethign that all the other hotels I stayed simply offered. The breakfast is also standard. Some reviews complain about the geothermal-water smell: I instead think it is quite nice to experience that - it doesnt stick to the skin as someone says.
Lastly, kinda hard to drive there during night, where no signs indicate how to get in front of the hotel from the parking of Skógafoss.
Restaurant is open up to 21 which is good if you arrive late at night after sightseeing and you can have drink up to 23!
Overall, I woudl recommend it once in life but I would not come back for a second time.
