We stayed at this hotel during our trip around Iceland and found it to be a comfortable and convenient stop while travelling the island. The self-service check-in was straightforward, although the booking information mentioned a latest check-in time of 9pm. We rushed to arrive before then, only to find there was no reception and entry was simple regardless - so it would have been helpful if that was made clearer in advance. The shared kitchen area was a pleasant surprise, with an honesty bar that offered good value and plenty of stock. It made it easy to grab a drink or snack without needing to head back out. There were also a few board games available, which was a nice touch for winding down in the evening. The projector in the common area provided options like Apple Screen Share, but the slower Wi-Fi made it a bit limited and sometimes frustrating to use with lagging. Still, it was a nice feature to have. Overall, it was a good place to stay for a night on a road trip around Iceland, with thoughtful communal spaces and an easy check-in process.

We stayed at the hotel for one night. The room was comfy and the staff very helpful, but the location and view were what truly stood out. We even saw northern lights just outside the room, quite an incredible experience!

Small but clean rooms. Private bathroom. Nice full kitchen and tables in basement to cook or store your food. Easy check in. Central location to walk around town.

We had booked this hotel as I was tired of campgrounds and this hotel was almost worse than a campground. |The shared kitchen was the only thing that was good about this hotel as it was new and moderately clean. |The hotel is made entirely of wood so everything creaks and vibrates when you walk around. If you have to book here, better to be on the top floor so you can sleep. |The room has a horrible musty smell and dirty carpet. The bed sheets had holes|The mattress was extremely worn and soft. |The shower was not bad but the sink was incredibly small and not even big enough to wash your hands.

Very small rooms but clean. Hotel is a very old building that had some renovations but needs more. Walls are paper thin. Can hear other guests talking thru walls. Was there for only one night so made best of it. Downstairs has a "honesty" area where you can buy drinks (soda, beer, wine) and snacks. You pay by credit card but there is no one there if something goes wrong. Surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. Lake out back with ducks and other wildlife. Cool brewery close by with food. Friendly staff. Not many other choices. Easy free parking.

The place is clean, the wooden floors are absolutely beautiful (in my room, at least), and the building is quaint. Location is great, right in the center of town - can go for some beautiful hikes without having to drive at all. Can use the fridge to store a small quantity of food, or purchase what you need from the 'honesty bar' deal, whereby you pick what you want and charge yourself for it. View out my window was amazing (facing the water).||The building being 100 years old is a mixed bag; although it's cool and unique, the walls are as paper-thin as other reviewers have suggested. I did not sleep well - and I was there in off season (April) when the building was half-occupied. It became necessary to nap during the afternoons. You will know each time your neighbors use the toilet, use the sink, take a shower, have a quiet conversation, fart, burp, or move a chair. Courteous guests will try not to pull doors closed (instead, they'll turn the handle and close the door quietly) but you shouldn't expect this; while I was there, I was constantly hearing slamming doors. It's enough to shake the walls and jar yours truly awake. There simply may not be much that you as a guest can do to prevent this.

Exceeded expectations! This is a self check-in charming hotel, located in the heart of the adorable town. It used to be the old post office and was converted into a hotel. Rooms are small, reminiscent of a dorm room but are more than adequate with nice linens. Vintage creaky wood floors add character. Several cool seating areas to hang out in. Free coffee and tea, and a well stocked honesty bar. Great WiFi. The sister restaurant (Aldan Restaurant) is located a 2 minute walk away and served up some of the best dishes we’ve had in Iceland.

a charming hotel in a small town, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The room was cozy and well-decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, I did find the kitchen lacking; it would have been more convenient to have an induction stove and a microwave, along with some basic cooking equipment like pots and pans. While there was a supermarket across the road, stocking up on raw food proved challenging for a short stay. Additionally, the absence of nearby restaurants made dining options limited. Despite these drawbacks, the hotel provided a comfortable base for my visit.
