Had an overnight stop in the hotel and the staff was helpful as I tried my Spanish and gave me helpful tips. The rooms were very good with some giving a sea view and mine was great. Good WiFi as there was a QR code to login. Restaurant and bar staff, as usual, were helpful and was able to accommodate individual choices. Pleasant city and county to visit. Recommended

The hotel is well located in front of a beach. The spa and the pool are very nice. There was always enough space. The rooms are big and luxurious. And the breakfast is also very good. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The service throughout the hotel is excellent.

Beautiful hotel. Well designed and pleasant atmosphere. From a purely practical point of view, our guestroom could have used a few more hooks and a towel bar in the shower. But, other than that, the guestroom was extremely comfortable, stylish, and very pleasant. The staff were all very courteous, professional and helpful. The doorman, bellman and front desk staff all exhibited authentic hospitality and professionalism. The culinary experience at the 1921 Restaurant was exceptional and the staff there are very engaging and hospitable. They made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The team at the lobby bar were excellent! Very courteous and professional. Great experience there! Over all, in my opinion, this is the best hotel in Montevideo. It's not to be missed! Even if you don't stay here, you must come for lunch, tea or a cocktail at the bar. Enjoy the ambience, architecture and hospitality. Really fabulous! We can't wait to return!

I wanted to share my frustrating experience trying to book a stay at your hotel. From the very beginning, the process was incredibly difficult and, honestly, quite disappointing. I first reached out to make a reservation, but I was told it couldn’t be processed at that moment. The staff took my phone number, promising to call me back—but they never did. So, I followed up with another phone call, only to be met with an unhelpful response. The person I spoke with said they would send an email with payment instructions, but that email never arrived. The main issue was that I wanted to pay in advance since this stay was meant to be a gift. When I called again to ask about the email, I was told it had bounced back. Instead of reaching out to me—especially since they had my phone number—they simply ignored the situation. I had to send an email myself to finally get a response. And when I did? They asked me to send my credit card details via a PDF attachment. A PDF. That’s completely insecure, and I refused—because, frankly, no one should be sharing their financial information that way. At that point, the only option left was to pay in person at the hotel. But then I was told that reservations can’t be made on Sundays, which seemed like a completely unnecessary restriction. I really wanted to make this gift happen, which is why I kept trying despite all the setbacks. But the entire experience was frustrating and far below what I’d expect from a professional hotel. I hope this feedback helps improve your reservation process, because honestly, it needs some serious work.

This hotel is just beautiful. I feel it is the most beautiful in Montevideo. The room we got was a corner suite facing the water and it was amazing. The service is just OK. We went to the restaurant for breakfast and it was also just OK but overall, I would go back.

Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa is a beautiful, luxury hotel on the east side of Montevideo. The services provided by most employees were outstanding and top notch. I am specifically speaking of Chiara (reception), Gonzalo (restaurant), as well as the support and cleaning staff. The only area that ruined things for me were the doormen (except for one very friendly young man). Most of the doormen were lazy, somewhat conceited, and not very helpful at all. Not once did they offer to help with my luggage during arrival and departure. Maybe I looked like a backpacker with no money or something, but looks can be deceiving. They need special training on excellent customer service and any preconceive notions should be removed when working in the customer service industry.

Wonderful staff, food, atmosphere and stay. Staff works very hard to make experience wonderful and the small touches with scents and flowers make it better. Location in Carrasco is quiet, but offers lots of choices for alternative dining and the beach.

A beautiful, glossy hotel. We had a sweeping view of the River Plate from our room which was very comfortable. Great area for having a long walk along the front and with local shops, restaurants and cafes nearby as well. The food in the restaurant was good at dinner and breakfast. Ideal for the first and last nights of our trip in Uruguay as it is not far from the airport.
