Soho Boutique Palacio San Gabriel, Ronda, Andalucia, Spain - Explore & Book

"Tucked down a side street in Ronda's charming historical quarter, the Soho Boutique Palacio San Gabriel is an 18th-century townhouse with bags of character and elegant good looks. Following a fire many years ago, a family carefully restored the building retaining many period features, while adding a few extras such as the huge wooden staircase bought from the old town hall. Originally a family home, the building first opened its the doors to paying guests in the late 1990s. Chandeliers, family portraits, stags' heads, carved wooden beds and an exquisite salon create a stately Spanish splendour. But its small scale, friendly owners and congenial staff balance that with a genuinely welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The unexpected pièce de resistance is San Gabriel’s own miniature cinema, where you can sink into plush velvet seats (originally they came from the town theatre), to watch old black and white movies or perhaps Zeffirelli's Carmen which was filmed on location in Ronda. Other features include a pretty interior courtyard, a library, a café and a cellar bar. Highs The perfect position in the old quarter, close to streetside eateries, the Mondragon (and other) palaces, and the spectacular bridge over the gorge It's still family run, and the staff are utterly charming and enthusiastic Some bedrooms have ancient arches or canopied double beds We loved watching Carmen in the hotel's charming little cinema room Great value for a hotel in the heart of old Ronda Lows No pool or garden, but there is a small courtyard with seating Many of the bedrooms are rather dark, but this is in keeping with Spanish style Parking in the old town is usually a nightmare, but there’s a public carpark 5 minutes away and hotel guests receive a special daily rate This is an old building, whose thick walls mean patchy WiFi" - Nikki Tinto

We just stayed one night in this beautiful hotel in Ronda. Location is fantastic in the old town. The hotel is small but very beautiful with lots of antique furniture adding to the ambiance. The staff were really friendly and helpful. My only small gripe was that the bed was quite hard but for one night we didn’t mind! A short walk and you are on the famous bridge with breathtaking views. Go to the rooftop bar in hotel Catalonia for amazing sunset views over the bull ring. The hotel has no parking but there is a public carpark paid 5 minutes from the hotel. Beware when you drive in park behind the church as you will be fined for parking in the front.

Decent stay, but if you have the budget upgrade to something else Great location in old town close to public parking. Quaint location with easy access to the main sights in Ronda. Reasonably priced, and decent value for money. Room was a little small and had a great view of the bathroom and the toilet (even though there was a curtain). Door to room and to the windows outside had small cracks which did not feel entirely private and safe. Some aspects like the shower are getting a little long in the tooth’s and require some updates in the near future.

Location is the best. We were on a Rick Steves tour of Andalusia and had one night in Ronda. Rooms are very clean and roomy, but beware of steps in the room. We had about 6 steps up to the bed area and a step in and out of the bath. Quirky and fun if steps are no problem. Fridge in room and great location.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of the old city. Very convenient to many shops and restaurants. Rooms clean and spacious for a European hotel. Staff very helpful, recommending places to visit and tapa bars / restaurants. We stayed 3 nights and we’re sorry to leave.

Old hotel, with a very old infrastructure. The hotel is beautiful outside the room. However, The room is small and a bit ugly, different style from the rest of the hotel. No water pressure in the shower, with hot water coming and going. No shampoo. No doona cover. We were expecting more from the price we paid and also considering that it's a 4 star hotel.

We enjoyed this hotel. The location is in the old town with lots of alleys and squares making it a fun place to walk around (as indeed is the whole of Ronda). The room was good and everything comfortable. Great breakfast. Staff were helpful.

Had booked this hotel nearly 6 weeks prior to our intended stay. Reservation was cancelled by hotel at 7 am on day of arrival with no immediate explanation. On checking booking.com to find a new hotel for the night I noticed the hotel still had a room available to book When I queried the cancellation the hotel stated there was an issue with the room we had booked, yet they did not move us into the room that was still available . We thankfully found a new hotel in central Ronda and enjoyed our stay.

Great position, very quiet ,easy walk into town. Room which we received an upgrade was in need of upgrades. The bath was cracked and was VERY slippery with no grab handle. The sink also had a crack , needs sorting, on the whole well worth a visit with parking near by.

Yelp
We decided to leave Granada a night early to explore the town of Ronda. This hotel was amazing! Located not even a block away from the new and old bridge. The hospitality was outstanding. Our room was huge and sparkling clean. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious and a fun place to meet other travelers. Very cool pics of actors, authors, athletes ect.. that had previously stayed at the hotel all over the walls in the dining room. Was entertaining to look at. We tried two of the restaurants they recommended and they were both awesome. The hotel stored our bags after we checked out and when we picked them up we noticed that there was a small theater in the hotel. The owners had salvaged some of the seats from a very old local theater that was being torn down. They had an array of movies to choose from in case you visited on a rainy day. This is the kind of hotel you don't want to leave!
