Hotel Sol y Sombra

Should be a 5 star but the shower curtains aren't great and ours was on the floor when we checked in. We tried to fix but to avail. Regardless. Food is really nice and plenty of options. The staff are beautiful and very helpful. Nice pool on the roof with a good view. Thank you and a very nice time, and I would recommend to all 👌🏻👏🏻

I recently stayed at the Sol y Sombra alongside 7 of my friends. We are all 23/24 year old English “lads” and were originally apprehensive given some of the reviews from other English folk. However, I can safely say our stay was very pleasant. The rooms are admittedly a bit dated however they do the job and are clean. Most of the guests are elderly Spanish people but they were friendly and along as we weren’t loud and obnoxious, we had no issues. The staff were excellent, spoke plenty of English and were extremely helpful throughout our trip. The rooftop pool is small however it has a great view and is not too busy throughout the day. The hotel is a half hour walk to the main strip and just around the corner from the coast. All in all, some of the reviews paint out this hotel as a “do not stay” if you’re English when in reality, it was pleasant and great value for money. Thank you to the staff on the front desk who really stood out and made their best efforts to help us with any questions (despite our lack of Spanish!)

Rooms are spacious, very clean. 10 min walk from beach. Hotel is Attractive to the older people

Starting with the staff, most of them are not very attentive and polite. The cleanliness of the rooms leaves a little to be desired. The elevators are always broken. The food is varied and in large quantities, the quality is reasonable. They treat customers in different ways, if you are Portuguese you will simply be seen differently for the worse. You can see that the treatment given to the Spanish is very different from that given to the Portuguese, which is incomprehensible because people are all the same regardless of nationality or color and in addition Benidorm has many Portuguese tourists. 10/15 minute walk to the beach. Noisy hotel.

You cant have silence in the room. Music start at the hotel's restaurant at 10 pm and stop after midnight. All customers are old spanish, very loud. Speaks loud, make a lot of noise in their rooms. If the party stop early(12 am) you cant sleep cuz outside you can hear everything, windows and walls very tiny. I dont recomend to stay here!

If your English don't say in this hotel Rude Spanish staff, hardly speak English awlful uniforms honestly so scruffy looking staff. Food awlful Beds are rock hard Honestly worst hotel .felt so uncomfortable in this hotel Your reply.. if I tried to tell anyone no one spoken English who would I off told ?

We had a 3 night half board stay. This is a great little hotel, mainly Spanish guests and rooms a little dated however the reception staff very friendly and helpful, rooms cleaned daily and food to a good standard. Like said earlier, rooms a little dated however very clean, are cleaned daily. Location excellent for old town and ponte beach. Lavante beach about 20min walk so great location.

Thank you everyone at the Sol y Sombra for a wonderful Christmas and New Year. The food was extremely good and being able to have a glass of wine or beer included made it even better. The staff were very helpful and willing to help us numerous occasions. One of the best attributes of the hotel was it was quiet at night. Will be booking again in the very near future. Many thanks xx
