It’s been almost a year since our stay at Agro Turismo Son Foguero in Mallorca, and it’s time I share this experience publicly because despite everything we went through, the hotel has never taken proper responsibility.
My husband and I booked the most expensive room on the property, paying around €880 for a two-night stay. We were told there was no staff onsite past 9 p.m., but someone would be available 24/7 on WhatsApp. That reassurance could not have been further from the truth.
On our last night, after packing up to leave early the next morning, we stepped out for a short 40-minute dinner. When we returned, we discovered our room had been broken into. The balcony door had been forced open, our luggage was rummaged through, and all my cash and jewelry, including family heirlooms with deep sentimental value were stolen. It was dark outside, terrifying, and we were alone.
There was no hotel staff onsite to help us. Nobody responded on WhatsApp for OVER THREE HOURS. We, and other guests who were also robbed that night frantically texted and called the number we were given. Still no response. We were left to sit outside and fend for ourselves. If it weren’t for the kindness of other guests, we would have had no support at all during this traumatic event.
Eventually, several hours later and right before the police arrived, someone from the hotel showed up. They offered no real apology, no acknowledgment of the danger and fear we experienced, no explanation for why no one was reachable despite promising 24/7 availability.
This break-in was not random. The design of the room’s balcony doors made it possible only for someone familiar with the property to know how to access it. Even we didn’t realize one of the panels was actually a second, unlockable door. That’s a serious safety flaw the hotel should have addressed—but didn’t.
After filing a police report and flying home the next morning, we spent the following year in back-and-forth communication with the hotel’s manager/owner. Initially, they refunded our stay (which was the bare minimum, considering they failed to provide even basic safety or service during an emergency). Then came months of vague promises and delays about compensating us for what was stolen. The manager repeatedly agreed to reimburse us for the stolen items, then changed his mind, over and over again. It has become clear that they were never serious about making things right.
To this day, we have received no apology from the hotel for the trauma we endured, the loss of irreplaceable items, or the complete failure of their emergency protocol.
If you are considering booking this hotel, know this:
• There is no staff onsite at night.
• There is no real 24/7 support.
• Security is extremely poor.
• If you’re robbed or need help, you’ll be on your own.
This place markets itself as a peaceful, high-end escape, but in reality, it’s a property that does not prioritize guest safety and will abandon you when you need them most.
