Spent 2 nights in Sonne Hotel. Rooms very comfortable and clean. The restaurants offers a traditional swiss kitchen, which i appreciate a lot, since is probably the last hotel in Andermatt that offers you a real swiss mountain experience. Uncomplicated check in and check out. Very close to skylifts and easy to reach from the train station. Definitely worth a second visit.

Lovely stay with excellent room and breakfast. Staff was helpful and kept our bags while we spent the day skiing. Definitely recommend. My review framework: 5 = exceeded expectations 4 = baseline meets expectations 3 = fell below expectations 2, 1 = something negative occurred

We had a fantastic stay! The hotel is modern and stylish, with a super cool vibe. We especially loved the lounge on the second floor—it’s packed with games, snacks, and drinks, which is such a great idea. The staff were amazing—always friendly and helpful—and the owners were lovely too, always up for a quick chat, which made everything feel so welcoming. The Swiss food was delicious, and the portions were really generous. For what you get, the value is just spot on. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Hotel Sonne in Andermatt was a nice surprise: it is much better in reality than on the pictures on their website. Rooms are very comfortable and have a nice design: traditional chalet style with contemporary touch. Beds are very comfortable. Perfect cleaning. For the bit overpriced room rate you would expect a minibar or a fridge in the room. The restaurant is offering traditional dishes, big portions for a bit high prices in two settings at 6 p.m and 8 p.m. About the quality of the dishes we can’t complain, it was over our expectation. The breakfast buffet is made with good quality local products, we loved the breads especially! For the highly priced rooms you would expect also some freshly made eggs or some warm options for breakfast, but it was not the case.

Unethical and Racists We were a group of 18 people. While 7 people were places on a 6 seater table, they initially managed to squeeze 11 people on the 8 seater table. Making two people sit between tables making it unable for 11 people to even move a little bit. When we asked the servers initially, they said all tables were reserved. But then when we complained harder, they moved three of us to another 4 seater table. However until we could get an additional table took unnecessary amount of time and effort. The fact that the restaurant thought it would be okay to squeeze 11 people at the 8 seaters thinking us Asians don’t speak English = not being able to communicate is absurd. Even after we got an additional table, they threw utensils and cups for set up. When we asked them to wipe the table for having crumbs and water, they said, “oh it’s just from water.” When we asked again saying it’s more than water, they brought a drenched towel and carelessly wiped the table leaving more water than before. So we ended up wiping the table again with our napkins. Lastly food. Gosh. These look and taste like one of those toy food.

Had a lovely evening with my parents- the waitresses were incredible- timely and prompt and listened to our needs. The food was delicious! It had a beautiful vibe for a winters night . It’s a must do in Andermatt!!!!

This was our base camp for a few days in Andermatt. It’s a 5 min walk to the Gemsstock tram and 6-7 min the opposite direction into the village. We stayed in the suite on the top (4th floor) which can accommodate 6. There are two twin beds pushed together, a fold out couch, and a loft bed. There was plenty of space for all our gear and the set up/design of the suite is functional, simple, and economical. The room and bright and sunny and faced the ski hill. There’s a washroom with a toilet and sink (locking door), as well as a separate shower and sink behind a sliding barn door. There is a hair dryer, hand soap, and shower gel, but no separate shampoo and conditioner. Storage includes coat hooks along the entry, rubber mats to store shoes/boots, cubby holes, armoire with hangers, and a cabinet to store clothing. Just off to the right of the lobby, there is a boot drying room and then beyond that, a ski storage room with street access. Breakfast buffet is between 7:30-10:00am and fairly simple. The only hot food option is to hard boil eggs. Staff weren’t really present so I can’t say much about the service, but everything was clean and comfortable and we highly recommend.

Yelp
Cozy wooden hotel which serves traditional Swiss cuisine in its restaurant. We really enjoyed the schnitzel and rosti with a local white wine while admiring the rustic decor. Our waiter was friendly but disappeared half way through the meal. Despite this, the owner took over serving us and other patrons and it all went fine. We'd definitely return!
