What to Do in Central Hokkaido, Japan's Tranquil Northern Escape | Condé Nast Traveler

"Stepping into Hotel Sosei, housed in an unassuming former Sapporo brewery, I was struck by its maximalist design: a vast, imposing sculpture, walls and shelves filled with frames and curios, and an ancient copper-beer-kilns-inspired fireplace that turns the bar into a cozy hideaway by night." - Jonnie Bayfield

Hotel Sosei Sapporo Mgallery Collection (Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"More and more, Sapporo is taking its place as the cultural gateway to the island of Hokkaido at large and not just the birthplace of a certain rice lager. Makes sense, then, that the former Sapporo brewery site is now a thriving entertainment and shopping destination, and that Hotel Sosei Sapporo MGallery chose to put down roots here. Inside, it’s a maximalist-chic exercise in arches, sumptuous upholstery, and subtly steampunk furnishings. Rooms and suites balance it out with an upscale spin on traditional Japanese mainstays (think wall paneling and whisper-quiet ambience). After all, “sosei” roughly translates to “revival” or “rejuvenation” — just the ticket after sampling the namesake brew." - Tablet Hotels

It is with great pleasure that I share my experience at Hotel Sosei Sapporo - MGallery Collection. My stay was nothing short of exceptional, characterized by a perfect blend of professional service and genuine warmth. The Front Office team was outstanding; their professionalism and attention to detail ensured a seamless arrival experience that set a wonderful tone for the rest of my visit. The room itself was a sanctuary of comfort—elegantly appointed and perfectly maintained, allowing for true relaxation. I must also commend the team in the lounge. The staff there were incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing service that was both attentive and personal. It was a delight to unwind in such a hospitable atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel to discerning travelers seeking a refined and welcoming stay in Sapporo.

A Perfect Finale in Sapporo: Hotel Sosei - MGallery Collection For the final leg of our Hokkaido journey, we chose the newly opened Hotel Sosei Sapporo - MGallery Collection. While it was a departure from our usual stays near the train station, the experience proved to be an exceptional one. From the moment we stepped in, the hotel felt both sophisticated and inviting. The interior boasts a subdued, elegant color palette that exudes a quiet sense of grandeur. A particular highlight was the cozy bar area with its central fireplace—the perfect spot to unwind with a fine Japanese whisky in the evening. Our mornings began wonderfully with their refreshing breakfast, setting a positive tone for the day. What truly elevated our stay, however, was the outstanding service. A heartfelt thank you to Wendy at the front desk and her colleagues. They went above and beyond, spending considerable time to help us secure restaurant reservations. Most importantly, they arranged an airport taxi to Chitose Airport for us at a fixed price, and significantly more affordable, rate—a huge relief! Although we experienced a very minor hiccup in our room, the team handled it with utmost professionalism and grace, even surprising us with a thoughtful goodwill gesture. It’s this genuine care and attention to detail that makes all the difference. Without a doubt, we would not hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Sapporo. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of modern comfort and impeccable service.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Sosei Mgallery for two nights and we absolutely loved our time here. The service is impeccable and their decor is unique and well-appointed. The room and bathroom are lovely and spacious too! It is a bit further out from the Sapporo station (a 15 minute walk), but we found that taking the taxi only took 5 minutes and around 5-7USD each trip. I just want to thank the staff for their excellent hospitality. My husband left his glasses in the hotel room, but we were already in Tokyo by the time we found out. The staff at Hotel Sosei promptly communicated with our hotel in Tokyo and shipped the glasses there, so we were able to get them back before flying back home!

After a long road trip around Hokkaido, we came back to Sapporo for a few nights back in the urban jungle to relax and do some shopping. The Hotel Sosei was chosen for the reviews and also the location, walking distance to the shopping areas.||The Hotel:|Very uniquely designed and very appealing, which stands out from the rest of the hotels in Sapporo. It was pretty easy to find and the staff were all super welcoming and helpful. Although the lobby is small, the hotel is actually spread out and not cramped. On the first floor is a relaxed bar that also doubles as the executive lounge, serving drinks and canapés in the late afternoon/early evening.||The Room:|A good size and big enough for two people to spread out and open luggage etc. the kind bed was softer than other hotels but the pillows and duvet were perfect. We both appreciated the USB C points either side of the bed. The bathroom was really nice and the separate shower and bathtub were great. Overall, we slept well and had a very cosy stay.||Breakfast was more western than Japanese - not a complaint at all - and the quality was very good indeed. The tea/coffee selection was jolly good and overall food quality was very high. I’d recommend including the breakfast if you can.||I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re needing some luxury in a good location in downtown Sapporo.

came here with my family for a 2-night stay, and this was definitely the right choice to end our road trip in Hokkaido. The high-standard service started from the doorman at the main entrance to the front desk team, the cleanliness of the room, and the thoughtful surprise for my mom’s birthday. It truly became an unforgettable memory for my mom and our family. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious, and the entire hotel design was beautifully done. During our stay, the hotel was decorated for Halloween, it was very cute and festive! I want to praise the entire hotel team for their genuine care and exceptional hospitality. Every staff member we encountered showed professionalism and warmth, making us feel truly welcomed and valued. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience. We would love to come back again!

Thank you to Takako and her team for their hospitality and care as soon as we arrived at the hotel! We wanted our luggage shipped to new chitose airport within 2 days but realized Yamato couldn't deliver in time. Takako and her team tried different vendors and ultimately booked us a flat rate taxi that ended up being the most convenient and cost a little more than shipping the luggages. They even loaded our luggages to the cab before we got to the taxi without asking, which shows how they go above without asking. Rooms were spacious and clean with high quality amenities in the shower and gym. Location is not the most convenient but the quality of the service and rooms make up for it.

Good hotel, great staff! I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Sosei Sapporo, it truly felt like a warm and homely place. I stayed in one of the executive rooms, which was spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a perfect blend of elegance and convenience. Every detail reflected thoughtful hospitality. The bar deserves a special mention, an excellent selection of wines and cocktails paired with absolutely delicious finger food. It was the ideal spot to unwind after a long day. Hiro San does a great job. The breakfast spread was equally impressive, with a wide range of options to suit every palate. The restaurant staff were attentive, courteous, and always ready with a smile, making each meal a pleasant experience. They were especially kind to our kids, often offering them hot chocolate with marshmallows and even packing muffins for our day trips in thoughtful little boxes, small touches that speak volumes about the care and attention the staff provide. A heartfelt word of appreciation for Mr. Pankaj Chandani, who went above and beyond during my stay. He was always happy to provide his inputs about what places to visit and where to go shopping. I had accidentally left my credit card in a taxi, and he immediately took charge, quickly coordinating with the taxi service and ensuring I got the card back within a few minutes. His calm, reassuring approach turned a stressful situation into a moment that truly reflected the hotel’s exceptional service culture. Overall, this hotel combines warmth, professionalism, and comfort effortlessly. I look forward to returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for impeccable hospitality and a memorable stay.

Hotel Sosei Sapporo is charming, the interior carries a modern lux industrial blend while the exterior is museum-like with mysterious vibes. The boutique hotel’s charm follows through from the lobby to the rooms, exacerbated by the warm hospitality of staff who greeted us sincerely all the time. The room is clean, cosy, comfortable and has all you need for a restful getaway. Breakfast served at the restaurant was delicious and had a mix of western and local cuisine (including hokkaido’s delicacies). Pricing point of view, this hotel is value for money for the boutiquey product it delivers, being closer to lux but at the expense of convenience (proximity to Sapporo station). If you are still agile, the Sapporo station is just a 12-15min walk away - convenience will not be an issue then. Will not hesitate to stay at Hotel Sosei Sapporo again. Special mention to the team who helped arranged a little special surprise for me and my wife as we celebrated our wedding anniversary during our stay in September. We booked three rooms at five nights each, total fifteen nights! Made our Hokkaido experience that extra special ♥️
