Hotel Splendid

Superb hotel set on a small beach adjacent to Lake Maggiore. The hotel is just outside the main town of Baveno but is an easy 10 minute walk in with a supermarket en route for provisions. Our room was large with a sofa, desk and beautifully decorated in true Italian style. The bathroom was immaculately clean with easy to negotiate shower and bath. We had a pleasant balcony which again was very clean and looked side on to the Lake, but full Lake view balconies are available (assuming at an additional cost). We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was beautifully laid out with lots of choice. We loved our room, the grace and elegance of the hotel and would have liked to have stayed longer!

We had a room overlooking the car park and a busy road. This hotel charges for EVERTHING. So be prepared. You can hire a brolly for EUR2.50. Our room came with a kettle and 1 teabag each but no milk or milk powder. I asked the desk for an extra tea bag and I was sent to the bar where I was given 2 teabags, 2 empty cups and half a glass of milk, this cost me EUR5.00. The village is a 10 min walk away but does not offer a lot. Can highly recommend the pizza place. EUR25 for a large pizza. (il Portico) Rooms are clean and serviced daily. There is a water filter station in the lobby which was not working. We were given a bottle of water on day 1 but had to pay after that.

This is a charming, older style property, generally well maintained and comfortable. I had a pleasant room with a large balcony and a good view of the beautiful lake. The bed was comfortable and the room was cleaned to a high standard on each day of my visit.|There was only one power point. Not enough!|Breakfast was good.|Wifi was unreliable.|A supermarket and various restaurants were a short walk away.

I recently stayed at the Splendid as part of a tour group.The accommodation was very good, spacious bedroom, lovely bathroom with plenty of towels and bathrobes, immaculate housekeeping. Overall the hotel has a spectacular position on the shores of Lake Maggiore, having dinner on the Terrace was a lovely experience, food OK, the setting was memorable.Overall the decor is immaculate in that traditional Italian style, if you like modern minimalist, then not for you.The staff I dealt with were efficient but reserved, but that is obviously what the management prefer? I would not hesitate to stay again.

The hotel was very nice and clean. The room was very comfortable. The balcony view was lovely. The hotel grounds are beautiful, the garden gate opens to a park that offers a lovely walk to the town. |I had read from previous reviewer that everything came with a cost so was mindful of this. The gym was €25/day, the spa was also €25/day. There were issues with keys not working to open the gym and spa. We were there with Viking and I did feel that they were very accommodating to us.

This hotel offer outstanding experience. Private sand beach with access to lake. Outdoor swimming pool. Wellness & gym area. Rooms are very clean and well equipped. There is a taxi boat bay so hotel can be used as great place for sightseeing other parts of the lake. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We had really amazing time staying there for a long weekend city break. There are few things which could be improved: The AC control didn’t work and each time we had to call reception (on/off/warmer/colder) Be prepared for extra fees (5% service fee on everything including hotel restaurant, wellness etc) There is no place to iron the clothes and it’s forbidden to use iron in the rooms, hotel offer iron service but that’s quite pricy (15€ for dress, 5€ per shirt +5% service fee ;) )

I'll start with tye good things: the hotel is very elegant and luxurious. Our room was OK, not the best, definitely not for the price, but it was clean abs comfortable. The hotel has a beautiful spaces outside overlooking the lake and a nice outdoor pool. The water is freezing and even on a hot day, it's quite impossible to enjoy it. We are a family with a 7 year-old and it was a mistake on our part to book this hotel. There is absolutely nothing for kids to do over there. If you are an older couple on vacation and want to relax or read and have the extra money, then you'd enjoy it. It's not for families. It's important to note that the hotel charges 20 Euros per day for parking in their own parking lot. Not 20 Euros for the entire stay, but per day| I found it quite rude, which is why I chose not to pay the 5% service they add to the final bill as a non mandatory payment. On a bad weather day I asked if we could use the indoor heated pool of one of the other hotels in the same chain and they were gracious and allowed us to use it for free. We went there and tye pool was freezing cold. It was indeed indoor, but not heated, so what's the point? I also tried to book a massage at the spa and there was only one hour available the entire day. So I tried to book it for the next day, again, just one hour available during breakfast. It seemed as if they had only one massus. A hotel of such a level and quite pricey, should make more efforts to give value for money. So overall it's partly my fault that I booked it because I was excited about the private beach and the pool, which were hardly used, and especially as there are a selection of beautiful hotels in the area with better prices, but it felt that there is guest relations and they didn't care much if we're happy. Their breakfast was good and as stated, the views of the lake and the public areas beautiful and well maintained.

Beautiful hotel right on the lake, we stayed 4 nights on a tour.|The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from town along the waterfront, so much better than the footpath by the main road because of noise and speed,|The hotel is in 2 seperate buildings, one on the lake and the other behind next to the busy main road. We were in the second block but the road wasn’t a problem inside as the windows are double glazed. |This is a 4 star hotel and it lives up to this but is a little let down by the service, like table was not laid for breakfast and you get the feeling the staff are a bit self important.|Our room was great, huge room with 2 balconies and good lake views.|Before booking check the prices as rooms can be quite expensive.
