We spent 2 nights here at the hotel. It was quite easy to get to - 5 mins walk to the hotel from the Montreux Train station. There was an elevator after a shot walk from the station that would bring us to the street level. ||The breakfast was simple in Swiss style but it had a good variety - bread, tea, coffee, yoghurts. To top it off, David’s scrambled eggs were delicious!! I enjoyed the service and the short chats with David and it was nice to stay there. Rooms were clean, lake view was great (we were at Level 3) and we got to watch the sunset from our room. It was also short walking distance to the Queen’s music studio and the Freddie Mercury statue. |There are also different shops and restaurants around the area too! There was a gelato shop 5 mins walk from the hotel which was great too (we could get 4 flavours in a cup!)||A downside is that there is a bar at the ground level that I could smell strawberry flavored shisha every morning (I didn’t like it 😅)||Overall is a wonderful stay and thank you for the stay. Would come back again if we ever come to Montreux-Rivera 😃

Excellent! The location is fantastic right in the heart of Montreux! I had a very spacious twin room just above the main road. As I was there during the festival I was worried it might be noisy at night, but it was calm and peaceful! We had a closed balcony room/conservatory on the strret which could be closed and this seemed to block any noise wonderfully! The heavy curtains blocked the light well too, so we slept very well! The beds were comfortable and the shower nice and powerful! There was lots of cupboard and wardrobe space for clothes and other personal things. The owner and all the staff are very kind and friendly. You feel at home! For breakfast the coffee machine makes a wide variety of all very high quality drinks including a lovely cappuccino. We were offered wonderful scrambled eggs every morning which went very well with the fresh breads, cheeses and hams available. There was also all kinds of cereal, yoghurts and fruit. It was all delicious!

Hotel Splendid was an excellent choice during our time in Montreux. The location is fantastic. The breakfast was excellent. And the service was over the top. After we had checked out, my son realized he had left his tablet in the room we stayed in. Before I had even reached out, the hotel had contacted me about this and had the tablet shipped to our next destination on our trip. This really went above and beyond what I expected. The only downside was that we stayed there during the heat wave in June and there is no air conditioning (as with most hotels in Switzerland), but they moved us to rooms in which we would be more comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel!

I completely disagree with the previous review by "RM". This is a lovely family-run 3* hotel in a delightful turn of the century building. Its age is part of its charm. Yes, you could spend a fortune turning it into a plastic version of its former self, but what's the point? ||||I've just completed another stay here. My balcony room had a high ceiling and a great view of the lake and the lake steamer terminal. Great shower and a really comfortable bed that gave me a good night's sleep. And then a really good breakfast in the morning! Great friendly service from David and his brother, and all at a sensible price...||||There's a great ground floor bar with bar food like burgers, and in season a good restaurant on the first floor. The trolley buses run along the road in front of the hotel, giving easy access to everywhere in Montreux. The lift up to the station is just 50m away! Its painless.||||You can easily pay 3x the price for an alternative hotel close to the station. If you want 24/7 service then stay in a 5* hotel, and stop complaining please!

One of the worst experiences ever! We booked this hotel on Booking com for three nights during Montreux Jazz Festival many months in advance. Few days before our arrival, I asked about the private garage, as one of the highlights advertised on Booking com is "parking garage". David, the manager was extremely rude from the beginning of our conversation stating that I did not read carefully and that I should cancel a reservation if I don't like it. I stated that if it says on many places "parking garage", then it seems like they have a garage but I stopped responding to his arrogant email and then he actually cancelled our reservation just one night before our arrival. I have over 100 accommodations booked on Booking com (from 2 starts to 5 stars) and never did anyone cancel my booking, let alone because I asked about a feature which is clearly advertised on their Booking listing and on the night before, when David obviously knows that it will be impossible and really expensive for us to find another accommodation. Also, to be honest, the place looks quite run down in person, now that we went to Montreux and passed by it. I would absolutely avoid this place in the future!

Location, location, location. Superb view from the balcony. Helpful and attentive David the manager more than made up for the somewhat shabby interior. Perfect for the Jazz festival.

Had a great stay at the Splendid. David was very helpful with advice for local sights. We also enjoyed his daily morning scrambled eggs. Close to everything. Would stay again.

Yelp
This was one of the best hotel experiences we had in Switzerland for not only the location of the hotel but the warm hospitality of the brothers who own and run it. We would stay here again. Location - perfect in Montreux. Literally facing the lake just across the street, with the bus stop right in front, and convenient to many nice parts of the town including the promenade, restaurants & train station. Hotel - a historic place indeed. Rooms - Our room faced the lake & had a small balcony. It was clean, furnished with what we needed, and comfortable. Bathrooms were modern & fully functional. No issues with it being too hot or too cold. Dining - Breakfast was included daily, & the food variety, quality & service was good. Service- This was the highlight. The hotel staff & the owners were extremely helpful & friendly. They gave us great tips on dining, sightseeing & general conversation.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here one night, on May 27th, 2019...I will start by saying that I am not a picky person....as long as where I am staying is clean and safe, I am good... Three positive things... 1) proximity to the train station was great, virtually just feet away.....2) the manager, David, just could not have been nicer or more helpful...he held our luggage for us, as our room was not ready when we arrived...he gave us lots of good information about the area and ideas of what we should see....3) the view was spectacular as we had a room in the front, lakeside...couldn't have asked for a better view... The rest of the story is not good.... 1) the bathroom had tons of black mold in the tub/shower....my husband even went downstairs and asked one of the staff for some cleaning product and proceeded to scrub the tile in the shower....the bathroom was just not clean...just one of my pet peeves... 2) in lieu of regular beds, this room had hospital beds, complete with the hand held controller to raise and lower the head, foot and knee area...it was just very weird to find those in a hotel room...since we owned a medical supply company for 25 years, we are pretty familiar with the product..our thought was that they bought them cheaply and replaced standard beds with these, or got a deal somewhere....they are very inexpensive to purchase, so we figured that was the reason...and they are very uncomfortable... 3) this is the worst part of the story...I mistakenly moved the duvet and caught a glimpse of the actual duvet, which was covered with a white duvet cover...it was disgusting! ....filthy dirty, covered with a variety of stains, ranging from bright yellow to dark brown...UGH! 4) when we were leaving in the morning, the hallway smelled atrocious...an almost dead body smell...have no idea what it was, but was relieved that we were leaving... I think at one time, the Hotel Splendid was splendid, but it has fallen into disrepair and needs serious attention...hopefully this review will prompt the owners to look at their investment....the potential is there...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION !

Yelp
I have been staying in this hotel for some time now, and I do not regret my choice. The two brothers who own and run the hotel, alongside David, have been most kind to me. They are always there to help in any way the can. The hotel itself is located in what is, in my opinion, the heart of Montreux. Therefore, You can walk everywhere. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Mine had a breathtaking view of the lake with the Alps. And during Christmas time, you can see the whole "Marché de Noël" from above. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to feel at home during their holidays.
