"Gilded stucco, damask fabrics and sumptuous antique furnishings combine to make this Baroque hotel perfect for those looking for a change from the ubiquitous minimalist style. This ambience of classic luxury continues in the guestrooms, which are decorated in shades of periwinkle blue, golden yellow and cardinal red; the most sought - after rooms on the top floors have views of the Villa Borghese gardens and the historic centre. The roof - garden restaurant is renowned both for its excellent cuisine and its panoramic views." - Tablet Hotels

I had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable nights at Hotel Splendide Royal, and I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt as if I had been transported into a world of timeless elegance and intimacy. The room was beautifully designed—spacious, refined, and filled with small details that made it feel personal rather than just luxurious. Waking up to the soft light coming through the windows and the view of Rome’s greenery was something truly special. What really stood out, however, was the atmosphere of the hotel itself. It’s not just a place to stay—it feels like being welcomed into a historic Roman residence where every corner tells a story. The staff carried themselves with a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making me feel genuinely cared for during my entire stay. Breakfast on the terrace was an experience of its own: sitting above the rooftops of Rome, sipping coffee, and watching the city slowly come alive beneath the morning sun. It was magical in every sense of the word. Two nights here felt both too short and perfectly complete—a retreat full of beauty, calm, and a touch of romance. Hotel Splendide Royal didn’t just host me; it gave me memories I will carry with me for a very long time.

My husband and I stayed there on vacation. The bed is very comfortable, the pillows are soft, they clean it all the time. The bathroom is clean and spacious, the water pressure is good, I washed my long hair in 5 minutes. No strangers will get into the hotel, there are special doors that close automatically in case of fire. The hotel staff are very friendly, the breakfasts are delicious, the restaurant on the 7th floor has a great view, a chic wine list and very tasty food (the restaurant has Michelin stars) - I highly recommend it!!! I didn't like the room service, the food was very salty, not tasty, it's better to order directly in the restaurant.

We stayed in Rome for 2 nights before heading to Tuscany just before the Pope’s funeral. We really enjoyed this elegant and quiet hotel which was a short walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. It was very comfortable, clean, and staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Our only less positive comment was the cost of a light lunch in the Mirabelle restaurant. We had 2 very artistically presented courses (one of which was a green salad) and a glass of wine each and the cost of our lunch was almost 400 euros! While the view of the Vatican and the skyline were stunning, we found the price tag rather shocking. |We were happy with a whirlwind 3 hour golf cart tour arranged by the hotel to allow us access to view many sights with minimal walking.|I was also very appreciative of reservations agent, Claudia, who helped resolve a booking issue prior to our arrival. |All in all, we would recommend the hotel for a stay in Rome but would suggest a drink on the roof bar to enjoy the view rather than a very pricey lunch. There are many restaurants in the vicinity outside the hotel to choose from.

This historic hotel is in a great location which is away from the crowds but close enough to walk to nice restaurants and sites. Staff were professional and the service staff in the restaurants rooftop bar exceptional. They had a lovely breakfast buffet and drinks in either the rooftop bar or restaurant were great with a spectacular view. Remember no shorts for gentleman in the rooftop bar!

On my recent trip to Rome, I had the pleasure of staying at the Rome Splendide and couldn’t have been happier with my experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate me, especially when they saw how much luggage I had! Without hesitation, they upgraded me to a massive suite, which was such a wonderful and unexpected surprise. The suite itself was incredibly spacious, making it easy to unpack and settle in comfortably. While the hotel has a slightly more classic, dated feel, it still exudes elegance and old-world charm. Everything was impeccably clean, the furnishings were well-maintained, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect after long days of exploring the city. What really stood out was the level of service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure I had the best stay possible. The location was also fantastic, making it easy to get around while still being in a more refined part of Rome. Overall, while Rome Splendide may not have the ultra-modern aesthetic of newer hotels, it more than makes up for it with its timeless charm, exceptional hospitality, and attention to guest comfort. The unexpected upgrade made my stay even more enjoyable, and I would absolutely return!

This hotel is magic. There were a few small issues which I will mention but overall our stay was excellent.||We travel all over the world, Bali every year, US, Maldives, Europe, Switzerland and many other places. We nearly always pick our hotels by reading reviews. We love the St Regis hotels and Relais group also.||We picked the Splendide Royal for its location primarily and the rooftop terrace. However when we checked in we were told that the rooftop terrace was not available for Saturday and Sunday night due to a private function. We were very disappointed by this. Thankfully we were staying another two nights so were able to use it. But if we had only been there for the weekend it would have been a disaster!||Our room was fabulous and the bed super comfy. Bathroom was lovely too. Air con worked perfectly. However for a 5 star hotel, there was no coffee machine in the room. This is the first time this has happened in all our travels. So we ended up each morning going out of the hotel for a coffee before our day of exploring.||The staff are fantastic, very professional. The guys on the front door are superb....their welcome back to the hotel was so genuine and they were always smiling.||Unfortunately we had one encounter on the Sunday afternoon. We had friends who had been staying at the hotel also and we wanted to have a drink with them at the bar upstairs before they left. The staff member was rude and very arrogant. We explained that there were 4 of us..he said 'We are very busy so I do not know if I can give you a table'. Eventually he 'found' a table outside. There were many many empty tables both inside and outside. This was around 4pm. We met our friends and had drinks. We stood up to say goodbye fully intending to stay ourselves and have another drink but we were handed the bill so felt unwelcome.||This was quite offputting and we were very upset initially but the rest of the staff were fantastic. We used the rooftop terrace on two nights and the staff there were so nice. ||There is only one bar available if the rooftop terrace is unavailable and it is inside beside the restaurant and can get busy.||I would recommend this hotel highly but I guess if I was booking it for a short trip I would ask if the rooftop terrace was available.
