Rooms and bed are very small. Kettle provided in the room with tea and coffee but the teacup is absurdly small, it belongs in a child's teaset. Service was excellent and breakfast was very nice. Good location.

Had a lovely stay at the St James, had a good breakfast. The room and bathroom were clean. It is a short walk to the centre of town. The hotel has a small car park and back garden. We meet Marjorie and Madeline who were very helpful and friendly. Will go back again.

From start to finish very good, met by a very charming and helpful member of staff who was very clear on everything she told us (even though she said her English was not good), it’s very good. She also informed us that Coffee, Tea, Hot chocolate from the downstairs machine was free (what a refreshing change) & to help ourselves. Room was small but perfect, clean, modern, which was a surprise in such a distinguished building. Everything worked fine in the room etc. only downside was how hot it was, I did have a fan which I used which did help, I think air conditioning would be very difficult for this building to install. In the evening another member of staff this time a nice friendly gentleman, had chat with us asking us about our journey etc and because we were leaving early, showed us how to use the gate remote again, as we’d not taken if in when the previous member of staff showed us. So unfortunately we did not get to have breakfast so cannot comment. All in all a great stay made better by the people. Would deffinately recommend. Thank you

Stopped just as part of an overnight travel pit stop and was very pleasantly surprised. Welcome was friendly and efficient, room was clean and large enough with modern look. Tea & coffee making facilities were available in the room and the continental breakfast was exactly what was needed to continue my journey. Parked outside of the hotel and had no issue finding space, although you can park inside for an extra 10 euros if you want. All in all a nice experience and would use again.

My three friends and I have stayed in this hotel three times in the last few years and this was easily our least successful stay. For a start we discovered that we were not to be staying in the main hotel building but in an annexe which was situated at the back of the hotel along a part covered walkway. I said at reception that because of a very bad knee injury I could not use stairs but when we were shown the route to our two twin-bedded rooms, we discovered that they were two flights of stairs. This was impossible for me but the hotel manager said there was no option as there were no more twin bedded rooms in the hotel ... but there is no lift in the annexe. After what can only be described as an argument with the manager one of my colleagues asked if there were any single rooms available in the main building with access via a lift. He said there was and after us paying an extra fee I was allowed to use this very small single room. My three friends remained in their annexe rooms. My single room was acceptable if small but in the annexe my friends were plagued by mosquitos on their second night and each had several bites in the morning. Altogether an entirely forgettable experience for us all. We certainly won't be staying at Hotel St James again. Pity - as it's central, the parking is easy and the breakfast is good.

Even before I booked our one night's stay, reception were excellent in responding to our enquiries regarding secure parking at the hotel. We were met by friendly staff and the room was clean with coffee making facilities, a bath and overhead shower plus a hairdryer! Ten minutes walk from the Mons Memorial Museum and fifteen from the main centre. We would definitely recommend this hotel - thank you!

The Hotel St James is about a 15-minute walk from the historic centre of Mons. The room was a little on the snug side, but the bathroom was enormous. The staff were friendly and helpful - their suggestion of a bistro near the town was excellent - and the breakfast was ok.

Very friendly team and well located place. Rooms need a refresh, are a bit small, but all in all are decent for the price. Bathroom are nearly as big as the room, so it's comfortable. Another good point for us, pets are welcome.

Yelp
Small but friendly place, typical of Europe, the place needs a renovation but there is only so much you can do to such a historical place. It was an ok stay however the lift was not able to lift two people and everything was a long walk. Breakfast was very spartan but again this is Europe and its to be expected. Next trip it's the best western for a bit more room and more options for food.
