The history of the hotel is great, the decor has stayed consistent with the classic old Santa Fe feel. Unfortunately, for the price, they could do some important updates. For one, there's absolutely no counter space. We have a free-standing sink outside of the actual bathroom (which is fine, and probably was part of the original architecture), but being a pedestal sink, there's no counter space and nowhere to put any of your toiletries. We ended up moving a side table over next to the sink - which only had enough room for one of our sets of toiletries - so we have to take turns using it. The heat in the room also does not work. We had it up all the way, and cool air is still the only thing coming out of the vent. We also had a view of (what could be a nice little courtyard area) but instead, it's trash cans and extra outdoor supplies (heaters, chairs, etc.) so that was a bummer or a view. Although we had a small fridge in the room, there's no coffee machines. Instead, they offer coffee via a little coffee/tea station downstairs in the lobby - which was actually out of coffee when we stopped by to get some...the floors in the room are older, wooden floors - which again, is probably part of the original architecture, but it also makes it feel very cold or dirty to walk on. I would recommend they at least put down some rugs to help with that. I ended up having to use multiple hand towels by the sink and around to walk on, if I wasn't using my flip flops. They also had tears in the curtains, our window randomly blew open one day when we were out, so came into a really cold room (in addition to the heater not working) that was uncomfortable. The staff is very nice and accommodating, but I think for the money, they could do a few more updates to make it worth the price. "Selling it" just based on its historical value, isn't going to be sustainable, especially seeing so many similar reviews/complaints. Word gets around :/
