Hotel Stara Planina

Hotel was empty when we arrived the day before national holiday. Staff is helpful and nice, spa and pool are ok. Lobby is spacious, breakfast nice. There is not much you can do as that's the only hotel in the area, you can rest in quite for 2-3 days or go skying when it's the season. There are signs of aging of the hotel.

Great location. Breakfast and dinner offer a great variety of different meals. Friendly staff. That sums up the positive things. Negative experience: SPA center full of shouting children and nobody does anything. Don't try to get a drink different from beer and rakia, definitely no cocktails (they are not popular around here). Tried to order a martini and were given an expired sour tasting one. Quite disappointed. Rooms are not renovated for a long time (broken window hardware, broken toilet buttons).

No one has invested in a hotel for a while, it' slowly faling apart and its price is on par with five star hotel, which it defenetely isn't. I am disappointed

There was no hot water in the hotel, we showered with cold water. The area around the lobby bar was very cold. A nice hotel, but it is all "drab and sleepy". The food was not replenished regularly when it ran out and the food was cold. The rooms were very clean.

Extraordinary Spa hotel, located on the top of the mountain, surrounded by forest and lots of sightseeing panoramas, hiking paths and even some wild horses. The building itself started showing bits of ware off, but the stuff, the food, and the cleanliness is unmatched. We were here on summer holiday, during the winter it is famous ski center.

Excellent location, near the ski track. But in November they don't have a walk tour of what they have on offer for staying in a hotel. The entertainment was only until 9pm, and the grocery didn't work on Sunday. The rooms do not have good heating, and jazzuzi was automated without hot water.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Hotel Stara Planina, and it was an ok experience. Finding the place wasn’t easy since there weren’t many signs along the road, but once we got there, it was a very positive surprise that they had a very large underground garage for cars. Since it was off-season, the hotel was almost empty, which made for a peaceful stay. The room was cozy, and the bed was super comfy, but it was frustratingly hot inside, with no way to adjust the temperature, which made it hard to fully relax. The decor felt a bit outdated, and some common areas could definitely use a facelift, but overall, the place was clean. The food was a real highlight, though—the restaurant served delicious meals, and we looked forward to enjoying them for 2 days. The spa was decent, with a nice sauna, but the pool was disappointing; the walls and floor felt slimy, probably from a lack of proper maintenance, which was pretty off-putting. The staff’s English wasn’t great, but they were kind and did their best to communicate. I think this place would really come alive during the winter season, especially with its location right next to the ski slopes. It’s probably a great spot for families looking for a winter getaway.

Great value for you money. Its remote if you are looking for a quiet relax time. Food is exclent, staff is pleasant and hospitable, lot of walking routes, ski track is 5 meters from the hotel. Some people have complained about spa being cold but I personally dont find it cold its on perfect temperature not to warm not to cold. Only down side is its virtue its far from everything so there is only one store that is not working all the time and much choices about restaurants as there are none except hote main restaurant and one a la carte restaurant. Will come again definitely!
