Hotel Stein - Adults Only, a Design Boutique Hotel Salzburg, Austria

"Located on the banks of the Salzach River, in the center of Salzburg, the Hotel Stein has a history dating back to medieval times and was fully renovated and reopened in the spring of 2018. The lifestyle and design hotel offers guests a panoramic rooftop terrace with views over the rooftops and the surroundings. Rooms at the Hotel Stein show a mixture of modern and classical style, with Austrian and Venetian influences. The luxurious rooms all have air conditioning, a unique furnishing and handcrafted glass decorations or lamps. The bathrooms are equipped with natural beauty products made from herbal ingredients in pharmacy quality. The restaurant Steinterrasse is located on the 7th floor and offers a view of the old town of Salzburg. Guests can enjoy a breakfast, brunch or fine dining on the rooftop terrace, and enjoy exquisite drinks and dishes. Hotel Stein's own spa area can be used against a surcharge and features a relaxation area, sauna and gym. Guides are provided in the rooms with running, hiking and Nordic walking routes. Only 230 feet from the property, the well known Linzergasse starts, where a variety of shops can be found. Cultural landmarks like Mozart's Birthplace, Salzburg Cathedral, the Mirabell Garden and Hohensalzburg Fortress are all within short walking distance to Hotel Stein." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Hotel Stein (Salzburg, Austria) 10 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though Salzburg’s hoteliers clearly would prefer that travelers not forget about its rich musical heritage, the fact remains that this is a city with plenty to recommend it in the here and now. Hotel Stein, like much else in this corner of Austria, has deep historical roots — there’s been an inn on this site since the year 1399. And while its present-day exterior blends seamlessly with the rest of Salzburg’s picturesque architecture, what’s inside is a luxury boutique hotel that’s as modern as they come." - Tablet Hotels

Recently spent 6 nights here over the Christmas period. Hotel was in the perfect location, beautifully presented. Rooms were lovely. Staff were exceptional, especially the concierge. Helped us many times with our queries. Breakfast option of a la carte vs buffet was a good choice. À la carte better option due to price of buffet. Lovely reception lounge. Roof top bar was stunning! Totally recommend and would certainly stay here again. Thank you Mark Fisher

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Stein for two nights around Christmas and absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating. The hotel room was clean, spacious, and quiet. The hotel has a rooftop bar with the most incredible view of Old Town. The location is also fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoyed being on the other side of the bridge, opposite from the fortress because we got great views of the fortress, etc. Highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed in this hotel for four days in July. While Salzburg is small, it is not hard to say that a hotel is centrally located, so I should say that it is perfectly located with daytime tours on the other side of the bridge and lots activities on its size of the river. The roof top breakfast is certainly a great location for anyone wanting to look at the Salzburg Castle every morning. The staff at the reception as well as the door were all friendly, cheerful and friendly. For the great location, we had a small but adequate room facing the river. To make it short, we will stay at this hotel again when we return in the future.

Google
A nice hotel with great location for visiting Salzburg. The staff were excellent and we felt so warmly welcomed at check-in. We enjoyed the rooftop bar and restaurant as well during our stay thanks to a food and beverage voucher we received based on our booking. The only place where the hotel is lacking for me is their breakfast buffet. While you can have eggs made to order, all the other items are cold and nothing exciting or special. If it’s not included in your rate, I would definitely take breakfast outside of the hotel.

We were very happy with our stay at hotel stein. It is very centrally located and walking distance to everything. Parking is a short walk away down the road. Plenty of restaurants and shopping walking distance as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the rooftop bar with incredible city views at night. Highly recommend a stay here.

This is a great hotel in a lovely location. Everything is walkable . We had an upgrade and the room was lovely and big . Scenery from window was stunning. Disappointed that the breakfast was not included in the price and was rather expensive. Eggs were not included and you had to pay extra for this . No toaster either so breakfast was disappointing.

Hotel Stein has a great location adjacent to the river and within a short walk of many of the things to see in Salzburg. Front desk staff was very pleasant upon check-in. The room itself was a bit on the small side but comfortable. ||Temperature was warm/stuffy in the room, and we could not get the air conditioning to work properly. However, a mention to the staff before we left the hotel to tour for the day and it was resolved before we returned.||Rooftop bar has a great view, but we went up for drinks one night and felt a bit ignored. Another minor complaint is that the elevators/lifts are quite small.||Overall, we had a nice stay.

We got the city view thinking it would be an an upgrade but definitely not worth it. They cut the size of the room in half even though it’s advertised as the same sq footage. The other group in our party had a standard room and theirs was much more comfortable and spacious. Still a lovely hotel just skip the extra cost of the city view and go to the rooftop.

Yelp
Great rooms, comfy beds and friendly staff! The location is perfect for exploring Salzburg as it is walking distance to just about all the major attractions. The views from our room facing the river and overlook the old city was amazing at night! Loved that the windows opened all the way to let fresh air in. With a proper name like Stein, only thing missing was a welcome bier upon check-in ;-)

Yelp
No quiet rooms can be had. Front rooms are on top of street and bridge, rear rooms face an alley and police seem to allow street parties in the alley even up to 4AM. Great location though, if sleep is not important.

Yelp
The location of Hotel Stein is excellent. Corner of the Staatsbrucke Bridge and Linzergasse. Either direction will take you to all the attractions/restaurants/shopping in Salzburg (all easy walking distance). Check in was easy and staff noticeably nice. While checking in a nice young man was waiting to take our bags and had hot hand towels for us! We had a jr. suite with fortress/river view. To me the room is best described as modern rather than luxury. The room was pleasant, clean and large with a big window to enjoy the views. Large bathroom too. Walk in shower was great with a rain shower and excellent water pressure. Large sink and ample countertop space. Room had everything you need; wifi, nespresso machine, coffee and teas, a safe, good size closet, robes, slippers, umbrella in closet, nice toiletries etc. The mini fridge had 2 waters and 2 juices that was replenished and complimentary daily. Air conditioning was a wall mounted room unit that worked just fine. Housekeeping visited our room daily and was excellent. There is a rooftop restaurant and bar called Seven Senses that looked lovely but the day we planned on going it was closed. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I did wish they had a place downstairs like a snack bar type place but there are supermarkets in the area to get everything you need (and plenty of restaurants!) Every time we walked in and out of the hotel the staff acknowledged us. There was always complimentary bottled water available by reception. Hotel common areas were immaculate. Taxi from hotel to train station was €8.10. I would definitely stay here again.
