Hotel Stella e Ristorante

We have stayed at Hotel Stella several times and each time it gets better. This family-run hotel has everything we needed: comfortable room; generous sized bathroom; lovely linens and towels; excellent restaurant with a diverse menu; parking and important for us accommodating for our two dogs. It is now our go-to place in the Locarno area. Thank you!

After a difficult drive over the mountain pass in a storm it was such a great experience to be received with such a warm welcome by the staff at hotel Stella. They provided the comforts needed for a family and had the room ready with a crib for the baby. Their hospitality was just what we needed to wait out the storm and feel like we didn’t miss out on anything due to the weather. I would highly recommend staying here. Also WiFi is super fast. Something I need for video conferences.

Beautiful little place situated on the hills near Locarno in Orselina, overlooking the lago maggiore and the city. I stayed for only one night but gosh, I could have stayed forever! ||The rooms were spacious and modernly designed. Bed and bathroom very comfortable and I had a huge patio at my disposal. From the bed you could see the lake. The breakfast was simple but good and the service was good. ||The reception staff was very friendly and helpful with tips. It's very easy to get down into town. Either walking (not for people who are disabled), or taking the very cool funicolare. Tickets are even sold at the reception. Parking was available upon request and I'd recommend getting that because it didn't look like there was an easy place to park elsewhere.||I think the price/quality ratio was great - I saw hotels double this price and I doubt they would have been equally beautiful and comfortable. Absolutely recommend this place!

The Hotel Stella is a wonderful little hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rene, one of the owners, was exceptionally helpful and spoke English very well. ||We had two rooms on the 4th floor. The rooms are modern, clean, well appointed, air conditioned and have absolutely fantastic views. The rooms are not large but adequate for two people. The buffet style breakfast has several choices and is well done. The pool is lovely, again with beautiful views of Locarno and Lake Maggiore. There is a guest washer and dryer by the pool, which is a great convenience.||The hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk from the Funicular which goes down to Locarno. The gondola up to Cardada is the same distance away. One can enjoy hiking up there. We don't recommend hiking down from Cardada to Orselina. Very steep, and not well marked.||We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights at Hotel Stella and would absolutely return.

The staff and owners were very helpful and gracious hosts. Our room was modern, comfortable, and had a spectacular, private balcony (4th floor). We enjoyed a bottle wine and a small dinner watching the sun set over Lago Maggiore. The temperature climbed to the 90s°F , but the well-maintained pool offered relief from the heat. Breakfast was everything one expects from a well-run Swiss hotel; the dining/breakfast areas also offered spectacular views framed by the palm trees on immaculately maintained grounds. We visited the Locarno Film Festival 2015 during our stay and took the nearby funicular down to the city, returning just after midnight the same way. In short, the Hotel Stella is ideal place to spend a few restful days, enjoying the very best of Swiss hospitality.

The staff at Hotel Stella are the heart of the place. Seamless service with friendliness beyond compare. We enjoyed the delicious food, sparkling clean family room with cozy duvets and incomparable view. The funicular/gondola is a 7 min walk and we took a 4 hour, lovely family hike to tire out the children, finished with an ice cream sundae and swim!! We ate every bite of our dinner and were rewarded with seconds....scrumptious and healthy!!

Excellent location(the view is super), spacious rooms, bonus to the swimming pool and the garden that was very good for my children. The breakfast could be slightly improved. We recommend this place and we will come back again.

The room was really big and super clean. ||The view is incredible and the staff was really friendly. ||We took room+breakfast which was not too big but it was enough and really good. ||And we had a babybed for free. ||The staff could speak german, Italian, english and french. ||The location is great : far from the noise of the city but close to the publics transports. We could have a free pass for the bus. ||The funiculare (train) costs only 3chf and at only 10 min by walk. With it, you arrive directly in Locarno. ||You can also find, next to the funiculare, the gondola. ||Conclusion : we planned to stay 5 days but few more days would be super !!
