Hotel Stern am Rathaus

I had the very great pleasure of spending four nights at this lovely hospitable, quiet, clean, central and (for me) just perfect hotel. My room was on the first floor, and was exactly what I had hoped for, a comfortable bed, plenty of surfaces for work space, lots of sockets for chargers, a well-designed bathroom and toiletries provide. The hotel is perfectly located in a small side street with no passing traffic and very limited passing footfall so there was absolutely no extraneous noise leading to four nights of good quality sleep. Whatever you do don’t miss their superlative breakfast with their daily specials – worth a trip to Cologne for alone. My stay was an absolute delight from the moment of arrival to the "didn't want to" leaving.

This little hotel surprised me, the rooms were nice and big, great bathroom. Andy and Kai were so friendly, fun to chat with and super helpful. They took a lot of pride in their home made breakfast spread which was delicious. I can’t recommend enough!

There were six of us & we had three rooms, all of which were lovely. Breakfast was delicious, with many options and friendly, attentive staff. The location is brilliant, very close to bars and the Christmas markets. However, the hotel is still quiet and peaceful. ||||We really enjoyed our stay.

Located in the shadow of the magnificent Cologne cathedral and just steps from one of Cologne’s many Christmas Markets and lots of local shops and pubs. Within easy walking distance of the Rhine river front and local museums. Stern Am Rathaus is quaint with only 9 rooms. Our room on the first floor was “cozy” but clean, updated and very comfortable after a long drive. The hotel offers discounted parking at a garage just a few hundred meters from the front door. Francisco could not have been more gracious offering us cookies and hot chocolate on arrival while helping us plan for our exploration of the city. A very nice breakfast spread for such a small hotel. Like staying at a friend's house.

The hotel is perfectly located in the old city at a walkable distance from the main sigh seeing points. The double room in which we stayed was comfortable, clean, quite and warm (visited in December). The staff was very nice and friendly and helped to make the cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was great.

Excellent location, this is a small boutique hotel who look after you from the moment you arrive. The rooms were perfect, breakfast excellent and nothing was too much for the team of staff. We had a wonderful stay and recommend the hotel to anyone who visits Cologne.

What an outstanding hotel from top to bottom! First of all the location is absolutely outstanding. 5 minute walk from the train station and cathedral and a minute away from a number of outstanding restaurants in the square. The family room was incredibly clean and spacious and perfect for a family of four. Having these kinds of facilities in the middle of the city is excellent and I know I'll be recommending to all friends who want to stay in Cologne. All the facilities you need including a mini fridge and coffee machine. There was also a mini bar available in the main hotel 24/7 which was extremely helpful The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much and they really went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They offered tips for the local area and things to do with the children and they were always so welcoming. We loved every single one and having great staff really does make a difference. Finally the breakfasts were just sublime. Great selection every morning with different specials like cherry pancakes and french toast. Staff prepare scrambled eggs and bacon to order and the kids absolutely loved it. This is a 5🌟 hotel from every perspective. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

This charming small hotel is the ideal place to stay in the heart of the old town, close to everything. The service was outstanding, and the breakfast buffet was both beautiful and delicious. Our room on the top floor had a spacious bathroom, and we were impressed by the smart, functional design. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable.
