Hotel Stern am Rathaus

The hotel and the staff were fabulous. The room was big enough for one traveler. I never saw such a big shower in Europe. The breakfast was delicious. The day of my departure breakfast did not start until 7:30 but they said I could start a little earlier to eat.

This hotel is right in the centre of Cologne, but we heard no traffic noise at all. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The very welcoming staff seem to think of every little detail and are very friendly. The wonderful breakfast is called 'continental' but is more elaborate and has better quality than nearly all English breakfasts we have had in hotels so far. Possibly the best hotel experience we have had in many years. And all this at a very reasonable price.

Lovely little hotel in a perfect location. Our room was great with everything we needed and really quiet. |From the moment we walked in Francisco was so helpful and friendly. We were staying at the time of a large evacuation in the city and he was very quick to give us information and helpful us with advice on moving our travel times so we were able to get out of Cologne before the train stations closed. |The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, we would have been very happy to stay here longer and would definitely recommend.

I had a truly wonderful stay. Everything was very clean, the location is perfect — central and quiet. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere felt calm and welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Cologne — I’m genuinely impressed and grateful!

Just around the corner of Cologne cathedral, this lovely hotel is located. The room was wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful finding a good restaurant or advising on where to go for a nice walk! Breakfast was fresh, and eggs were made on demand with a sweet good morning message on the plate! Thank you guys so much for a lovely small honeymoon!

We stayed in the larger apartment unit offered since there were several of us traveling, and the accommodations were excellent! Close enough to everything to be convenient to get around, but off the path enough to feel like you're in a secluded part of the city. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Cologne!

The hotel is located in a very convenient part of Cologne close to the main station, cathedral, Ludwig Museum & a great bar/restaurant called Puls. The hotel itself is appalling - no reception after 6pm, no elevator (multi level accessed by tiled stairway, dangerous), noisy (airconditioning repairs the first 2 mornings of our stay on the rooftop directly outside our window... no forewarning!!), no blockout blinds/curtains, towels small, thin & non drying (over heavy with the fabric softener??), mattress that reverberated with each others night time movement. The only upside was that it was very clean. I have never requested a refund before because of sub standard accommodation but this hotel was so inappropriately represented I did request one, that was dismissed (prepaid). Needless to say we moved elsewhere so as not to ruin the remainder of our time in Cologne.

Ideal location in the centre of Cologne. Very kind staff. Very clean and quiet rooms. A wide range of choices for breakfast, everything fresh and very good quality. One of the best hotels I have ever been to.
