We had an issue with our original hotel booking through Agoda and were left stranded, but luckily, we found Stern Hotel just a few minutes away. From the moment we arrived, everyone we dealt with was absolutely incredible. They really cared for us. Molena at the front desk (hope I spelled that right) warmly welcomed us, offered a room while we sorted things out with Agoda, and showed genuine kindness throughout. Mr. Froppa, the owner, went above and beyond, offering us drinks and biscuits while we were on the phone, later giving us a discounted rate, and even mentioning exciting upcoming room renovations. (ps we did not realise Mr Froppa was the owner until everything was dealt with, indeed a great leader and host!) Though the hotel is the oldest in Chur and full of history, the amenities felt high quality and well cared for. At the restaurant, Aline took such great care of us, recommending two different wines that perfectly matched our meals. We also ended up trying the traditional Bündner Trilogie which was divine. We did end up paying more than our original booking, but it was worth every cent. The hospitality we experienced at Stern Hotel completely turned our stressful day into one of the best moments of our trip. We can’t recommend this place enough, thanks to Mr. Froppa and his wonderful team for reminding us what true hospitality feels like.

WONDERFUL STAY - A privately owned, non-chain hotel that feels like family run old Swiss Farmhouse. Reception will make you feel like family from check in to check out and all points in between. The room is Swiss farmhouse style, ultra clean and comfy. Wake up in the morning and smell the free delicious breakfast permeating the building and it tastes as good as it smells. And reasonable rates added bonus

Good:Lovely old building in one of the oldest cities in Switzerland. Well restored and Maintained so it looks modern inside with old materials. Lovely large public areas.. |very friendly staff. |Comfortable beds and good breakfast.|Location just in the old city yet with parking at the back. ||Bad: Expensive ! Room was quite small and dark. I imagine that it could be very hot on a warm summers day. Lots of fans are the clue! |Our room could only be reached by stairs which was annoying with luggage. | we were surprised to see relatively large groups but they didn’t bother us as they have their own dining room. |Room was quite small especially for the price.

Recently stayed here while on a trip to Switzerland. Not too far from the station so an easy 700m walk. Reception on the downstairs 24 hour. Can be busy as there’s not much room to move. Just be patient! Being an old historic building, although restored it’s still an old building with lots of stairs and twists and turns. Be prepared. Our room was ok but shower over bath is really not acceptable in the this day and age. Bed was comfortable. Typical twin joined with two doonas. Needed the window open as it was quite warm. Of course the room was serviced each to a consistent standard. On two coffee pods though. Four would have been nicer. No English channels on the box I could find though. The bar at the hotel is quite small and whilst the staff when they are there were great. They are seldom there so service is very poor and generally unorganised too. Breakfast is typical Swiss affair. I didn’t write home about it. Quite a few groups use the hotel too. It’s located on the edge of the old town, this is a plus as it’s worth exploring. Some good restaurants quite close as well.

Very friendly and kind service especially lady with dark hair and glasses who worked evenings. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. I wish we could have tried the restaurant but it was sold out both nights :( Good location to train station.

Outstanding service and wonderful accommodations. Would highly recommend! Nicely furnished room, perfect location, parking available, close to train station, great breakfast. And the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

This is a great hotel in the old town in Chur, its entirely authentic and in keeping with its locality.||The staff were all very helpful, generally smiley even when under pressure and polite. ||I was part of a group travelling with Great Rail Journeys, clearly a lot of the hotels business comes from GRJ. On arrival, after a day of travelling, we were made to feel very welcome.||Breakfast was limited choice but plentiful. The evening meal was of a reasonable standard and well presented.||Would I stay here again yes, would I recommend it yes.

We stayed just one night here to catch the Bernina Express the next day.|The hotel is old style traditional Swiss. We were up on the 4th floor in the annex with a heavily beamed room - which was actually pretty cool - but not for tall people!||Staff were excellent, in the reception, the bar and the restaurant.||a really pleasant stay
