Hotel Stern Chur

This is a good hotel the staff are very helpful and polite, I would recommend. The only problem in our room was the size of the shower it was adequate, we are small people 1.6M tall. A very traditional hotel, that we both liked.

We stayed for one night and did the booking over the phone with Mrs. Fromm. She was very friendly and helpful and was there to welcome us when we arrived. The room was big and cozy with a beautiful rustic wooden smell. The breakfast was average however the most disappointing part was the person serving it. Staff interacting with guests should have a training on how to be welcoming and pleasant, especially that it’s the festive holidays season. I hope management can provide such a training.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Stern in Chur. Upon arrival, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even invited us to view the newly renovated rooms, some of which were still being completed. While the fresh paint smell was a bit strong for us, the staff were very accommodating and quickly moved us to a room in the main part of the hotel.|Our room was comfortable and cozy, featuring a traditional Swiss style with beautiful wooden ceilings that added to the charm. Breakfast was wonderful, offering a great selection of items, and the prosecco for making mimosas was a delightful touch.|The location is excellent — just a 4-minute walk from the train station and situated right in the heart of Switzerland’s oldest town. We also enjoyed beautiful views from the windows.|Overall, we highly recommend Hotel Stern for anyone staying in Chur and would happily return.

It’s tough running a 400 year old hotel in this century. Expectations are high. |The good- service, breakfast good range and quality, location short 10 minute walk with luggage from the station and on the outskirts of the lovely old town|The needs works which is really 3* stuff- we had a deluxe room…our double was simply two singles pushed together with a crevasse between the two beds worthy of one of the local glaciers!|The bathroom was poor. 4* is not a shower with a mixer tap in a bath with a shower curtain these days!! |The room was quite cramped for a so called deluxe

Recently stayed here while on a trip to Switzerland. Not too far from the station so an easy 700m walk. Reception on the downstairs 24 hour. Can be busy as there’s not much room to move. Just be patient! Being an old historic building, although restored it’s still an old building with lots of stairs and twists and turns. Be prepared. Our room was ok but shower over bath is really not acceptable in the this day and age. Bed was comfortable. Typical twin joined with two doonas. Needed the window open as it was quite warm. Of course the room was serviced each to a consistent standard. On two coffee pods though. Four would have been nicer. No English channels on the box I could find though. The bar at the hotel is quite small and whilst the staff when they are there were great. They are seldom there so service is very poor and generally unorganised too. Breakfast is typical Swiss affair. I didn’t write home about it. Quite a few groups use the hotel too. It’s located on the edge of the old town, this is a plus as it’s worth exploring. Some good restaurants quite close as well.

WONDERFUL STAY - A privately owned, non-chain hotel that feels like family run old Swiss Farmhouse. Reception will make you feel like family from check in to check out and all points in between. The room is Swiss farmhouse style, ultra clean and comfy. Wake up in the morning and smell the free delicious breakfast permeating the building and it tastes as good as it smells. And reasonable rates added bonus

We stayed just one night here to catch the Bernina Express the next day.|The hotel is old style traditional Swiss. We were up on the 4th floor in the annex with a heavily beamed room - which was actually pretty cool - but not for tall people!||Staff were excellent, in the reception, the bar and the restaurant.||a really pleasant stay

Very friendly and kind service especially lady with dark hair and glasses who worked evenings. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good. I wish we could have tried the restaurant but it was sold out both nights :( Good location to train station.
