We stayed at Hotel Stripes as part of a Latin American travel group during our honeymoon, so we were expecting a smooth and pleasant experience.
Upon arrival, the staff emphasized that no security deposit would be required. However, after requesting our passports and seeing that we are from Mexico, we were asked to leave a credit card deposit, while other couples in our group from Chile, Brazil, and Argentina were not asked for one. The issue is not the money, but the discriminatory action, which was especially disappointing during such a special trip.
Aside from this situation, everything else was very good. The breakfast, food, and overall service were excellent, and the staff in general was friendly and attentive.
The only other downside was the air conditioning: it could not be turned off in our room and it was extremely cold. The hallway on floor 13 was also very, very cold.
Overall, the hotel offers good service and amenities, but we hope these issues—especially unequal treatment—are addressed so future guests can fully enjoy their stay
