Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur, Autograph Collection (Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur sits at the heart of Jalan Kamunting, a neighborhood shaped by tin mining, colonial-era planning, and quiet reinvention. Once home to 19th-century shophouses rebuilt in brick after a devastating fire, the area now hums with independent cafés, design studios, and low-key nightlife. The hotel reflects this layered history without overplaying it: its 184 rooms feature minimalist design, warm tones, and archival photos that nod to the street’s past. From the rooftop pool to the proximity of The Row, Stripes is firmly anchored in its surroundings, offering a stay that feels local, and unmistakably KL." - Tablet Hotels

Loved the hotel, had a great rooftop pool and bar to sit at. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Shoutout to our cleaner Sabbir who made sure our room was immaculately kept. Only downside is our floor did smell of smoke. However, would recommend the hotel, especially for the location and price since it is next to a lovely street of restaurants.

Overall, my recent stay at the hotel was a great experience despite one unpleasant incident. The room was comfortable and well-appointed, the amenities were thoughtfully provided, and the service personnel were genuinely welcoming and warm. From check-in to check-out, I felt well taken care of, and the atmosphere reflected the prestige one would expect from such an establishment.||That said, there was one area where I believe the hotel could improve, particularly in service recovery. During breakfast at The Snug, I ordered an omelette with mushroom and onions. Halfway through, I noticed the onion had already gone bad, giving off a very strong smell. I immediately informed the waiter, who acknowledged the issue after checking and simply offered a brief apology. While I appreciated the honesty, I was surprised that nothing further was done to recover the situation—especially for a hotel of this standing.||Despite this, the overall experience was still very positive, and I would gladly return. However, I do hope the management reviews their service recovery procedures so that future guests feel the same level of care during unexpected situations as they do during the rest of their stay.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this hotel made it easy to explore the entire city. It's spacious, modern, stylish, and very clean. Our apartment included a double bed with a very comfortable sofa for our daughter. The staff was incredibly kind and professional. We used the rooftop pool, which offers stunning views of the city, but it fills up easily. We didn't get a chance to try the on-site restaurant, but there are plenty of others nearby. The only downside for us was the overly strong air conditioning. Although it's indeed hot outside, we felt the air conditioning was too powerful for us. Other than that, the hotel is worthy of its stars.

One couldn’t praise the hotel and it’s staff high enough. So friendly, helpful, nothing was too much bother. On arrival our room was exceedingly well presented. Gabbir tidied our room daily to a very high standard, if we required anything additional it was provided with a smile. The front desk staff were welcoming, Tawfiq especially went out of his way to greet us every time we returned to the hotel. The porters opened the main doors, smiling and greeting you in a wonderful manner. Don’t miss the opportunity to go up to the top deck, the view over the KL Tower is something special. We fully intend to return to KL and to Hotel Stripes, this is no small part due to the quality of the hotel and outstanding treatment we received from the staff

Nice hotel, very central and close to Dang Wangi metro station. Smart comfortable rooms and nice breakfast (lots of variety- the chicken rendang was amazing!) Very polite and helpful staff. Loved the rooftop pool, early morning is the best/least crowded time to go. We had a package which included a free cocktail and hot food snacks each evening - that was really good. |Things I was not so keen on - the bathroom sink was in the bedroom not the bathroom (I think this is an Autograph Collection feature as we also experienced this in St Lucia). Kids are not allowed in the bar area after 7pm which is understandable but when we arrived at 10pm first night gasping for a drink and some food they could not make an exception and the Internet did not work for me either so couldn't get the QR code for room service. Apart from that all was good.

Very clean mid-range hotel with well appointed comfortable rooms and a rooftop pool. We had a great two night stay. Checkout is midday but our airport transfer wasn't until 6pm - they held our bags and we still had access to the rooftop pool with bar & dining options. You can also wash & change before you depart which makes your onward journey comfortable. As with rooms, there is decent complimentary bodywash & shampoo + plentiful towels so stress free. We had lunch next door (see separate revue) and didn't have that horrible, sitting about waiting to be picked up feeling and instead, feel we made the most of our time here en-route home

It’s been a while since my last trip to KL, and I was looking forward to a relaxing stay. The hotel is located in a nice and relatively quiet area. The surroundings are not too crowded, and you can even see the KLCC from the street outside, which is a pleasant bonus. The parking system is a bit unique—it uses a car lift, and guests are required to pay RM10 for staff assistance to park the car. While this may be convenient for some, it might not suit everyone’s preferences. The room was clean, but I found the sink placement (outside the bathroom) to be a bit inconvenient, as water tended to splash and get the surrounding area quite wet. The working table came with a very basic chair, which felt a little underwhelming for a hotel of this standard.Housekeeping is managed by foreign staff. My mother, who doesn’t speak English, tried to request a towel in the morning. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding, and the staff thought she was opting out of room cleaning for the day. As a result, when we returned to the room at 11pm, we were surprised to find it had not been cleaned.I contacted the operator to clarify, but he only spoke English and couldn’t understand my question in Malay. He explained that guests must inform the operator daily if they would like their rooms cleaned. This was quite surprising to me, as I’ve never stayed in a 5-star hotel that requires such a daily request for housekeeping.Overall, while the location is good and the hotel has potential, the service and communication process could be improved. It was not the experience I was expecting from a 5-star hotel.

We have a very nice stay at Hotel Stripes in KL. The rooms were pretty big but was a tad tired(ish) but on the on the whole they were very comfortable. ||As I was sharing a room with a friend our main issue was the room had a translucent window to the bathroom (on the shower) - this was a little awkward when using the shower. I do think some sort of privacy divider should be provided for this.||The rooftop pool was really nice with a great bar. On the weekend we was able to get free drinks and snack for 2 hours between 5 & 7. The pool area was nice but again when the small amount of sunbeds were full it was a little tough to place your belongings if you wanted to go in the pool. They need to be policed a little better as many residents left their towels for 30+ mins plus whilst going back to the room. ||We had breakfast which was good but the coffee was attrocious - one machine that provided a really poor coffee. A few more veggie options at breakfast would have been welcome. ||Overall the hotel was nice and I would stay again but there are just a few little areas that could be worked on.

Yelp
It's a very marginal experience, inexperienced staff, marginal view, small room, others are so much better.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice and both times have been excellent. Upon check in they've always upgraded my room for being a Marriott Platinum member. The suites here are definitely welcomed upgrades, but not sure if I would pay extra for one (though the bathroom is great). The breakfast buffet that is included for elites has a great spread of food and also has attentive staff. Though the elite lounge here is quite small and has limited offerings. One of my visits to the lounge had a guest playing loud videos from his phone and I was surprised the staff didn't tell him to lower the volume. Try to visit the pool if you're here!
