Hotel Suisse Kandy

Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. We stayed here for two nights whilst touring the area and instantly felt at home as soon as we arrived. It’s a beautiful hotel set right on the lake in Kandy. |Our room had a side view of the lake and lots of beautiful sunlight streaming in. Old herringbone floor boards and original features. |Such a beautiful colonial hotel and would definitely go back again. |Food was great and service was superb.

A wonderfully pleasant hotel with outstanding service — that is Suisse Hotel Kandy. Perfectly located by a lake, with attractions within walking distance.|The shower in my beautifully clean, colonial-style room with air conditioning had excellent water pressure; the room also featured tea and coffee-making facilities, a refrigerator, and a safe. Comfortable bed and lovely towels. The breakfast buffet is truly extensive, and everything is fresh. In short, my stay was excellent.||Above all, thanks to the service and persistent efforts of receptionist Oshanthi, it was possible to successfully submit an online application for a visa extension. I am very grateful to her for this, as Kandy is a wonderful base not only for hikes but even for cycling trips. Thanks to her, I can now enjoy the beautiful island of Sri Lanka for longer. Nice and central hotel in Kandy. Very nice pool. When I arrived my room had two single beds instead of a double - when I enquired about this it was rectified within the hour without issue. Appreciated the excellent hospitality from Kathiv when we attended breakfast and dinner. He was always very attentive and kind and made our stay memorable. Thank you Kathiv!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The service was exceptional—every staff member was warm, professional, and always willing to assist. Check-in was seamless, and my room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained throughout my stay. The breakfast buffet offered a great selection. This is really excellent hotel. Highly recommend it. The staff are very attentive. Rooms are clean. Some minor issues that the front desk was able to fix up immediately. The issue was that the fridge was not plugged in. It needed a different plug to connect to the wall. Small things like this happen with maintenance in large hotels. They've been around for 100 plus years. They know what they're doing. If they don't know there's an issue. How can they fix it? The grounds were Immaculate the the pool was excellent. Overall highly recommend to stay. Lots of history in this hotel as well some issue I would think that could be fixed is water is not provided at breakfast and needs to be purchased. Our driver said that they had passengers that have issues with the bill but I think this is just because the water has to be purchased at the breakfast buffet which generally most hotels provide the water.

A nice hotel with an urgent need for refreshments. We had two rooms . The rooms smell mold and the toilets /bathrooms were not cleaned properly . We had booked the rooms on booking.com and we were told that we would be able to add breakfast for the rate of 10 USD at the hotel . This information was not correct and the hotel refused to help us . The breakfast was not a big issue for us but the fact that the hotel staff refused to help us even though we showed them the confirmation from booking.com was a disappointment. The hotel is located centrally and there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. And the staff were friendly and tried their best to fix things as soon as we asked for something.

It’s not just another hotel, it’s a place with rich history and walking around the hallways feels like being inside of a movie. We had an amazing time in one of the rooms with terrace that opens straight to the garden. |It’s a truly beautiful place, right in front of the Kandy lake with colonial architecture and classic decor making it feel really special. |The room was clean and spacious, with high ceilings. The inner garden was an escape from all the noise of the city, a true hideaway. Pricing is VERY reasonable for this kind of high standard.|All the hotel staff is professional and very friendly, but we are especially grateful to beautiful Sachini and Ayech from the front desk, who were so very kind in assisting us and taking care of all our problems when we arrived early and then needed adjustment with our room too. Thank you so much for your highest level of hospitality. |I’ve stayed in many hotels but this is definitely one of my favorite ones. I would come to Kandy again even just to stay here again. |Also be sure to visit the pool and have a breakfast at the hotel restaurant, it’s so worth it!

Having a stay at the hotel in December 2025. The hotel is decent and the location fantastic. Unfortunately the hotel is not living up to high standards. The staff is completely lost, especially in the restaurant. Our waiters didn’t know what was in their menu (a la carte). We waited 30 min before the kids could have their drinks. We got the bill in the middle of our meal. When we ask to speak to a manager they simply refuse. Again same situation occurred the day after with 3 coffees ordered, 30 minutes waiting. We do not recommend.
