Hotel Suisse Kandy

We booked this hotel through a third party but when we arrived, they had no record of our reservation. It turns out the third party had allowed us to make this reservation while the hotel was closed for renovations, so they never received our booking. Nevertheless, Hotel Suisse welcomed us warmly and prepared a beautiful room for us almost instantly. They even decorated it specially for our honeymoon and organized a candlelight dinner to celebrate, and provided us with a discounted rate for our troubles. The renovations were not fully complete yet but the parts that were finished (especially the grand dining room) were beautiful. The staff was exceedingly attentive and friendly, and even had recommendations for us for the next leg of our Sri Lanka trip. We would without a doubt stay here again!

This hotel is excellent value. It is not a 5 start venue but it is very good for the price. The staff were great. Breakfast was very good. The facilities are colonial English style with a full size billiard table and old style dining room. Overall very good and in a good location. Not far out of town and right on the walking track around the lake.

I stayed here on 2024/04/11. We checked in to the hotel around 6.30 PM. I bought a double room. Actually the hotel is very old and need renovation soon. The lift was not smooth. There were some strange sounds when it started the traveling as well as it ended the journey to upper floors. Rooms were big. Bed was very comfortable. Towels, shampoos, conditioners, body gel etc were there inside the washroom. The hot water was not actually very hot. Restaurant also was a old place, but with more space to accommodate guests. Dinner and breakfast were the meal i got. Those were not bad, but very limited variation. Waiters were very kind and helpful. As a summary, even though staff was friendly and hotel rooms were clean, renovation is much needed. Otherwise they may loose the local and foreign bookings.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. The hotel has been part of my childhood memories as we used to visit regularly as children and now whilst I was on holiday in Sri Lanka with my children we stayed here and the place hasn’t lost its charm. It’s very unique and has retained its historical charm, the facilities were amazing and very clean, the kids enjoyed the pool the food was great and we also liked the special cocktails. |The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Will definitely visit again.

We stayed at this hotel last December 25th and had a disappointing experience. The buffet was insufficient, and the food quality was far from satisfactory. The room quality was also below our expectations. Our room had to be changed after dinner because the AC and hot water were not working. A technician came to fix the AC in the new room, but there was no manager or responsible person present at the time to address the issue. Additionally, we witnessed a waiter attempting to hit a customer, which was very concerning. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with this hotel and do not recommend it to anyone.

Rooms are very big and spacious. However it's an old building with useless staff. Only 1 lady was helpful from the front desk. They shut everything at 11 pm- no water. No front desk nothing. The pool is good with view However, try and avoid this place. Breakfast is pathetic and no front desk in night. No water no help

Very Friendly receptionist Mr. Dan & Mr. Emil as we arrived very late at night. We found him very responsible & co operative as well as courtes. They also helped us to provide a good room as per our choice. Believe he is an asset to Hotel Suisse. All the very best to him and his entire team. :)
