Location is beautiful! The coral is not great, but the fish were abundant (even had some small black tip reef sharks). The pub bar is much better than the restaurant. The food service was lacking for the high cost - for example, no steak knives (multiple times), food orders wrong (every meal), etc. The staff is beyond friendly though! Rooms are comfortable.

Beautifully designed resort. Got this last minute deal and i have ZERO regrets. Friendly staff and a robust 4 star RATING for basic upscale lodging. Unfortunately the over water bungalows were unavailable due to renovations. Our Gardin view room was quite nice considering we were upgraded to an ocean view.

The resort seems unstaffed which causes the service to be slow. The resort is underwhelming for it's star rating. It redeems itself with excellent local snorkeling and the resort, however be warned the current is extremely strong in some areas. A good place to stay for a night or two to get used to the time change, however I would not stay here for a full trip.

Not a review of the hotel but if the seafood buffet and show at Le Meridien. The hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The show was excellent with many numbers, lots of costumes changes and an excellent band. The food however, was horrendous. Beautiful salt water crays cooked so much I could have played squash with it. Didn't even eat half of one. Was not cooked/boiled in a decent broth or seasoning. Oysters were disgusting... creamy and salty, yuck. Desserts were bland. Even the tuna, typically excellent in Tahiti was not great either. Everything looked good but the buffet was very bad. Only the pork was OK.

A luxurious hotel with all the amenities you would expect. Every room (I think) has a view out to the ocean and pool. The beach is sandy with great snorkeling reefs close. Great kayaking in a safe lagoon.

The 5-stars go to staff, people are very friendly and service oriented, they do their best for you to feel well in the hotel (exception for the restaurant/bar - slow and inaccurate). Premises need updates, including rooms.
Again, the 5-stars are for staff, they made us feel at home.

This is now the Sofitel. Maintenance stopped a few years back and it shows. The staff is friendly and it's fine to lay your head down for a night. Unlike other Tahiti hotels, they let you cool the room down past 76 F.

I've stayed at several Le Meridiens and have had mostly positive experiences. I wanted to like this hotel but I simply could not.
The Good:
Friendly Staff (front desk, manager and bar)
Gorgeous Views
The Bad:
Insects everywhere! I saw a roach in the hallway but I tried not to let it bother me. However, my wife found a huge roach on one of the pillows in the bed. This was too much for us. We went to the front desk to complain and try to change rooms. The staff was very understanding and switched rooms and went upstairs with us too verify that the new room was roach free. Unfortunately, when we woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom there was a small roach in the bathroom of the new room as well. I eventually killed it. We couldn't leave fast enough the next morning (thankfully the reservation was only for one night). I also noticed ants on an empty plate in one of the dining areas.
This trip was for our HONEYMOON so needless to say we were both very disappointed. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any hotel and definitely the worst that I've had at an SPG / Marriott ( I'm in SPG / Marriott Gold member). We had another reservation to stay at the same Hotel the following week but we cancelled it and booked the Intercontinental instead. Never again. Stay far far away from this place.
