Decent enough place to stay. Air conditioning and hot water. The shower sprayed water through out the whole bathroom though. And it is necessary to keep the drain cover over the drain in the shower when you are not using it. Tons of stairs to get up into the lobby and no parking close by, unless you score one on the street. They set us up with our motorbikes at a parkade down the road, a little walk. We had a king size room. There was a desk, chair, bench and an open closet with a few hangers. The front desk staff were very helpful with a few requests. The location is good, it is close to the Center and is walkable to whatever you need. Just be aware that it is on a hill and you are either going up or down! The room had an odd smell and the window overlooked the mechanical things for the hotel. The hotel is pretty quiet except the hallway was very noisy very early both mornings that we were there. The second morning there was no water for a little while, so no toilet flushing, teeth brushing or showering. They fixed it pretty quick. $750 pesos for 2 people.

The location is great, but I did expect the rooms to be a bit nicer. The room we got did not look like the picture. From what it seems, some rooms are better than others. We had everything we needed but it was clear the place is old and needs lots of TLC. The lobby and pool area very nice and well kept. The staff was nice hospitable. The location is the best, the town square is literally down the street.

It's a good place to stay and it's close to everything. Doesn't have elevator but air conditioner. I didn't like the room on the first floor but the one on the third floor. The pool was out of service.

The street in front of the hotel is narrow and one way west to east (Google Maps has it wrong!). You may have trouble stopping outside to offload your stuff with a car because there isn't a lot of space, and street parking is at a premium; motorcycles will have a slightly easier time, though there are few spots that are level outside the hotel. The hotel has a secure parking lot nearby (20.445809,-97.320202) that has a guard 24/7. Bigger vehicles will be challenged, as there isn't a lot of room to turn around in here. A/C was weak but functional. Decent water pressure, hot water, weak but functional wifi. Pool was available, but we didnt use it. 750 pesos for 2 double beds/2 people. The pizza place across the street has really good pizza, and the town square a block away is pretty lively.

Hotel Tajin is not the Ritz, but it may be the best hotel in Papantla. It stands at the top of a blocks-long steep hill, a block from the Parque, the Cathedral, restaurants, the market, and all tourist needs. The room was spacious, clean, and even had a small balcony overlooking the town. The second floor had a large sitting area, also with balconies. The reception staff, Juan, Tere, and Odette, were always helpful. The Hotel could enhance its image by replacing the lumpy pillows and the holey/torn towels with new ones.

This is not a fancy hotel but is quite adequate although you want a room with a view of the square. The location is excellent, rooms are clean, and it is a good value. Just what I expected. The restaurant is good but we ate at lots of different places. We really like this small town

The location was perfect. Service was great. Property was very nice and the room was clean. The rooms are very much in need of upgrades, but for the low price we paid, it would be hard to do much. The towels were threadbare in places and some of the wood trim was going bad, but the location and price mostly made up for that. The bed was very firm. Parking is down the street, but the hotel staff carried our bags from the car to the hotel. We enjoyed our one-night stay at El Tajín.

If you are looking for a clean, friendly hotel, with comfortable beds and a great location, you have come to the right place! This is not a hotel for people who expect first class accommodations. There is no elevator (although there are people to carry your bags, if necessary), and the rooms have no safe, nor are the furnishings elegant, but this is a very clean, relaxing, pleasant place to relax after a day seeing the sights of Tajin and the darling town of Papantla. There are verandas on each floor, a swimming pool, air conditioning, restaurants, and most everything you really need to unwind. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return, especially at the low price charged for accommodations and the fact that it is right near the center of town.
