The room is a bit hot as air conditioning cannot be on as outside temperature is 17 degree. Location is good and parking is convenient.

We came back again to revisit the gorge . Unfortunately due to strong winds , the boats were cancelled . The hotel could only check us in at 3 pm . Luggage storage was available though . |This time we booked three to a room and they upgraded us to a suite with a single twin bedroom and a tatami futon / dining room and in addition a living room with sofa . Wow this was the best hotel room in the whole trip . |The breakfast was good with onsen eggs . |We had dinner at Eiraku restaurant which the receptionist kindly booked for us . |Overall a good stay . There are twin rooms and futon beds and two suites in the whole hotel.

This hotel is situated about 5 min drive to the Takachiho gorge . However the walk there is quite dangerous and long as it involves walking along windy roads and we even encountered a snake as we drove up from the boating area to the hotel . |Parking is free and plentiful . |The reception has Nepalese staff who spoke English which was good . |We had booked the tatami futon beds which we had to lay out ourselves. The bed was hard and we had difficulty getting up from the floor . Maybe the next time we will book the twin rooms instead . The reason we booked the tatami futon room was that this hotel booking was only available 6 months ahead with Rakuten and they only sell this sort of rooms . Perhaps the hotel should consider opening up all the room bookings well ahead . |No chairs were provided in the room . Wifi was adequate but the aircon control could only set to very cold or off . |Dinner we had at Eiraku restaurant which the receptionist kindly made the reservation for us . Wonderful Yakiniku restaurant . Very affordable with excellent marbled beef and pork . |Breakfast had a good selection of western and Japanese . It was good . |Onsen was adequate but not very big . |Overall an adequate stay.

Wow! This hotel! First of all, my husband and I were there as a couple, but this hotel is clearly kid friendly. There was a very nice indoor play area for children with lots of books for them lining the walls. I was very impressed with that as I haven't seen that at other hotels in Japan. The room was lovely, the view was beautiful, and the surroundings were quiet. It was an easy walk to some of the best meals we've ever had, and it was a quick walk to the temple for the nightly show exemplifying one of the oldest forms of dance in all of Japan. We booked a western style bedroom but they also have tatami mat rooms with futons if you prefer that. The bathrooms are western style which we appreciated. The service was wonderful, and they had a few people at the front desk who spoke English so we were able to get some really good restaurant recommendations.

Like this hotel. Lobby is bright and inviting. The japanese style room is cosy and really clean. Breakfast spread was good. Receptionist is able to speak English and was very helpful when recommending the restaurants nearby.

When we checked in at night, the front desk was very welcoming (and in the morning too, the cleaning lady was very lovely too) but the front desk at night forgot to tell us that check out was at 10:00am. In the morning the manger saw us and said in English “OUT” ,I told him we didn’t know, and he didn’t say anything. He went to knocked on our friend’s door himself, even though they were standing right by the door and going, he came to the parking lot insisted asking us to call our friends and used translator to say “ are they really tired, why are they not out”. He could have asked us to pay for the extra hour and we would have gladly do so, but instead he was extremely aggressive. Also on a side note, the public hot spring for female and male are different, the male one is a lot more fancy.
