This is an awful hotel, no entrance or foyer and mostly not staffed. It looks like a prison block. We were supplied 1.5 threadbare towels for 2 people and no hand soap. The tiny bottles of body wash were not replenished for the entire stay and the heater in the bathroom didn’t work in sub zero temperatures. The breakfast was not fresh and in fact looked like it was yesterdays, even the butter was out of date!!! Packed lunches were inedible as the baguette seemed 3 days old. Our rooms were not cleaned during our 3 night stay and the room’s bin was not emptied. 2 of the rooms, 101 and 301 did not have wifi. The only positives were it was well located to the city centre and the room was warm

A friend and I stayed here for 1 night so we could see the last post ceremony. The hotel was perfect for us - comfortable beds with clean bathrooms and a good price. The hotel is ideally located a minute or two to walk to the Menin Gate – the Last Post starts around 8pm but get there at least 30 minutes before if you want the best view as it gets busy. The hotel is more or less opposite the Ypres Museum and the In Flanders Fields museum and the Grote Markt where we parked our car. Check in was quick and easy, the room was fine - a comfortable bed and a nice, clean bathroom. Breakfast was a more than ample buffet with selections to meet most requirements. Because we were there only for 1 night, we didn’t spend much time in the hotel, but I have no problem in recommended the hotel for people visiting the town.

We stayed in this hotel in September 2025 as part of a trip to visit fallen relatives in Flanders. The hotel was ideally located in the main square about 500m from the Menin Gate. There is no parking but you can park in the public car parks which are free overnight. You just need to be sure to pay up to 6pm and be there for 9am to pay if you are not leaving.||The hotel itself was comfortable and clean; we plumped for a larger room which overlooked the square. However, one of our party went for the standard room which was very small. The beds we’re comfortable, the room was kept clean and tidy and a coffee making machine was provided.||Breakfast was very good with a choice of continental or a cooked breakfast.||The only downside to this hotel: the public areas close at 6pm. There is a restaurant and a bar with an outside sitting area but it all closes at that time. We came down at 6pm the first evening and asked for a drink, which was reluctantly served but we were put in no doubt that this would not be a regular thing. I found it astonishing that a hotel in the main square of a town that must get millions of visitors every year, closes it door to guests and residents alike.

The hotel especially the room was spotless the breakfast was plentiful and hot a great start to the day all in all. a great stay for the money really well situated for the Menin Gate and the many restaurants and bars in this beautiful city definitely recommend I stayed in room 20 ideally situated next to the lift but really quiet for a good nights sleep many thanks to the owners and staff .

I have just come back from three nights at this hotel. It is very well-placed for tours of Ypres and the battlefields of Flanders however there are some things that travellers should be aware of. This hotel has some internal rooms which look out onto an internal brick shaft. The shaft is sealed at the top. My room was in constant darkness with no fresh air. It was claustrophobic and oppressive. I asked to move rooms but received a brusque reply of , “No rooms”. Whilst this is a no smoking hotel the ledge in my room had ash over it from stubbed out cigarettes and cigarette ends below the “window” ( more like a glass hatch to the shaft) so there was a smell of cigarettes in the room. The room wasn’t made up or cleaned on the third day and I had to borrow sheets of toilet paper from a friends room as they did not leave me with a spare toilet roll and only a few sheets on the one in the room. I was with a group of travellers who all paid the same price. Some were in the front facing suites and rooms with lovely views. Two of us were in the “cells”. If you are travelling with a group make sure you are not in room 5.

The Hotel New Regina is right on the Grand Place, opposite the restored town hall, symbol of Ypres. The rooms are very modern and functional with a small desk, modern ensuite and they have AC. The lady on reception was very helpful. Breakfast started at 7AM which was very useful, there was a good selection of cooked and cold options and the breakfast area was nicely spaced out. Wifi was good although spare plug points were limited in the room but there was a kettle which was very welcome! The location was fabulous, literally walk out the hotel door on to the main square. Menin Gate was a 5 minute walk and the town was beautifully clean and safe. The only two negatives were the fact they still use disposable containers for toiletries instead of a refillable dispenser and the towels were probably the thinnest I have ever seen. Parking was available just outside for about a Euro an hour or there were free spaces 5-10 minutes walk away.

Clean good size room, lovely and cool with air con, perfect location for us, reasonably priced ||Only downside to the hotel was that you can't leave the room without slamming the doors to lock them, which was a right noise in the morning when people leaving their rooms !!! Not guests fault, weird door locks that just needed to be let to slam to lock , not good design
