Let me start by saying we have had a wonderful 2 weeks at the Zi Carmela Hotel. |Only a couple of things I would have liked to seen, more cleaning of the outside pools, and jacuzzi on the solarium roof working so we could go up there to sunbath on the double beds. Also the jacuzzi in our room the buttons were very stiff to use but we did use once. The Hotel could use a professional paint makeover but it’s an old established hotel and facilities are good and clean. ||Now the good stuff. ||The staff and management were excellent very professional and polite and friendly. ||My personal thanks to Salvatore conte the restaurant manager he helped me to provide a cake for my friend Mario Sari for his birthday which was excellent and young lady at reception who organise balloons and fireworks for him. ||The room was great with a jacuzzi and large shower and a great view from the balcony by overlooking the port and sea The room was cleaned every day. ||The food is good with good choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Salavatore also catered for us English with a couple of changes to the menu. Panna-cotta for me…||The entertainment twice a week also excellent getting everyone together dancing, we were the only English customers in a hotel full of Italian’s mainly from Naples they were very friendly and we made lots of friends in the two weeks we were here. ||The hotel is in a great location with easy access to shops, beach, bars restaurants and transport. ||The hotel also has an area inside thermal pool and jacuzzi with changing coloured lights. And the well being area for massages etc. I used the jacuzzi and thermal pool very nice. ||Overall we have a great experience here… and having been to ischia for holidays for ten years, this by far has been the best Hotel we have stayed in, at a good competitive price. ||We will be back next year same time time same room, same table in restaurant I hope. See you here!! ||Richard (Antonio) Smith and Shiralee Smith Herne Bay England UK.

This hotel is a really good place to spend a short holiday in Ischia. To start with, the building is located in a position very close to the road, just take 2 steps and you are facing the sea. Still talking about the location, there are various highly recommended restaurants, where you can eat really well even if after all it was already taken for granted, remembering that we are in Italy, even better on an island than Naples. Speaking of the Hotel, however, the reception is very hospitable and speaks clearly. The Hotel also has a relaxation room, where there is a heated swimming pool, a hydromassage tub and a Turkish bath. A perfect place to relax and not think about anything. Speaking of the room, however, it is essential. Inside there is a double/separate bed, a SmartTV (in my case 32 inches), a clean and sanitized bathroom also equipped with a shower, and finally a window from which you can admire the fantastic panorama of the island. But ultimately the adjective was obvious, we're in Italy guys. Finally, there is also a buffet where you can choose sweet/savory foods, fruit juices, breakfast drinks, fresh fruit, croissants and more. To finish this review, I'll give you a small summary. The Hotel is really welcoming, clean and comfortable, but if you want to think about the landscape, I write a word that is as good as a novel... Italy.

The hotel has a nice thermal pool, which could be more curated. On Fridays they top up the perfumed pool disinfectant, so better to avoid it that day - you will witness a collective sneezing. The hotel is close to the main road and bus stop. Unfortunately that means that the room is quite noisy, even with the window closed. The curtain is thin and let a lot of light in. We complained about the loose toilet seat but nothing was done about it. The room is cleaned daily and fresh towels are always provided by the friendly and helpful cleaning lady Liuda. Unfortunately the fridge leaks, leaving a brown residue. The food is pretentious, you would not go back, if it was a restaurant. The table service is chaotic, with 6 salt for over 40 tables: asking for salt or pepper is problematic, especially because the veg side dish is not seasoned and everyone wants them. Tonight our meal was cold, they forgot the potatoes and the waiters were not in sight for the whole duration of the meal. We decided to eat our meat cold. Considering the price, it does not stand up to the other hotels in the area. My vote is overall low because to me the minimum requirement of an hotel is food (well below average) and sleep (noisy and bright) and without a good night sleep you wouldn't want to go anywhere, no matter how close the bus stop (very close). I added a few photos to show that while the place stand up to a positive first glance, it is a bit shabby at a second - like an unloved placed where there is no overall attentive management. After posting this review, they fixed the fridge and offered to fix the toilet seat, unfortunately it was the last day of our stay, so a bit too late

Very rude service from the workers in the hotel. The location is great but if the experience in the hotel is important for you I'm highly recommend to go to another place. We stay here for two days and got very disappointed.

A convenient hotel well located in front of the Forio harbour. Room are a little bit small but equipped with fridge and television. Restaurant, bar, massage and swimming pool on place. Could be noisy due to building architecture.

First the positives. This hotel is centrally located and is clean. Now the negatives. We booked two twin rooms several months ago and asked for rooms with balconies. When we arrived we found out our rooms not only didn't have balconies but one was on the first floor and the other on the third - they couldn't have been further apart if they tried. The room I was in on the first floor was near a bar and staircase so it was extremely noisy until at least 1.00am. The room was very dated (as was the whole hotel really) and had a hole in the ceiling, a broken toilet seat and a hair dryer that overheated after 2 minutes and stopped. The wifi in the hotel was woeful - I was given a RatCode to use and advised I could only use the wifi for an hour a day which was fine except it wasn't working most of the time and when it was it kept disconnecting and the code had to be re-entered every single time. Breakfast was continental with nice pastries but the only fruit available were apples and the coffee was dreadful - the worst I've tasted on this trip. The staff was efficient but not very friendly which I found surprising as everyone else we met during our holiday in the Campagna Region had been extremely friendly. In fact, we had a wonderful holiday - great food, beautiful places and wonderful people. The only disappointment was Zi Carmela.

We came to the hotel for the SPA and also had a lunch. This is a indoor SPA during the winter, pretty warm and comfortable. The food is nice and worthwhile. The guy in the hotel reception was very friendly and talkative. He can speak English as well as German. Happy New Year!

I recently spent five days in Zi Carmela and hand on heart I can say I haven't had a nicer holiday in years. ||||The cleaning staff are exceptionally hard-working and 'clean' (and I suffer from germaphobia) and it's evident that they put a lot of effort in to keeping the rooms and hotel well sanitised. The sheets and towels are beautifully white and sanitised (when I saw a tiny hole in the towel or bed sheet, I remembered that it is three stars with a 'family vibe' to it and furthermore, what would I have prefered in this current climate: pristine, clean sheets with a little defect or unsanitised ones without any holes? ||||Living in Italy already, I can tell you that I have a firm scope of what Italian food should be and they served really wholesome, traditional, locally sourced dishes. The fish is brought in FRESH every day, the pasta cooked to perfection and EVEN when you don't fancy what is on the menu, they try their hardest to please you with something suitable to your taste, for example at breakfast time I had asked for vegetables to be put aside for dinner time and another night I didn't eat a first course, so they gave me double serving of the second.... The waiters are local and experienced but perhaps don't speak English so well.||||After reading other reviews, I think those complaining should look around and see that they majority of Zi Carmela's guests are locals and trust me.... Food/Coffee is the top priority for people in and around Naples. They won't settle for any rubbish!||||We found the staff to be polite, friendly, relaxed and experienced, which goes a long way in this day and age where the majority of workers just launch plates/information in your face and grunt a response.||||Just a snag was the WiFi in certain areas, but in Ischia the connection is generally dodgy because it's a semi-remote island.||||Honestly speaking, for 3 stars I couldn't grumble with what I got for my money/half board... I've stayed in five stars and got much, much less. ||||Grazie e a presto!
