TerraVina, Santa Cruz, Colchagua Valley, Chile - Explore & Book

"Imagine a room with a view over acres of emerald-green vineyards; then riding through those vineyards in a horse-driven cart to a pretty bodega for a winery tour and tasting. And in the evening, gazing out across the same vineyards over a tasty meal at the hotel's restaurant, before strolling back to your room under the stars. This triumvirate of hotel, winery and restaurant is what makes TerraVina so special. Built and owned by a Danish-Chilean couple, it is just outside the town of Santa Cruz, the centre of the Colchagua Valley, Chile’s answer to Napa Valley. Colchagua is already internationally recognised as producing the country’s best wine, from the Carmenère grape, and with its beautiful backdrop of the Andes foothills, TerraVina has a prime location in the valley. The hotel still has a scrubbed Scandinavian freshness with white walls, rauli wood beams, wicker furniture and terracotta roof tiling. All 19 rooms have a patio overlooking the vineyard and share a long shaded veranda facing the pool and mountains. The hotel vineyard grows Merlot grapes for local wineries, with tours regularly held amongst the perfectly-placed rows for wine enthusiasts. Fine wine, great food and clean, comfortable rooms - it’s a perfect 3-point holiday plan for relaxation. Highs A lovely base for touring local wineries and hiking, biking and horse riding in the picturesque Colchagua ValleyFriendly English-speaking owners Anne and Eduardo who know Colchagua well and are happy to recommend and book local activitiesSpectacular Andes and vineyard views from your roomTasty buffet breakfasts and great cheese platters with wine on requestLazing by the pool, which gets the sun all day, then moving to the patio for sundowner drinks Lows It’s a 10-minute walk into Santa Cruz, along a fairly busy road, although taxis are very cheap Santa Cruz itself doesn’t have a lot of attractions, although its museum houses the biggest private collection in Chile" - Glenda Richards

I know it might sound a bit odd, but I really fell in love with this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great advice on things to do in the area.||The rooms were perfectly functional—nothing fancy, and maybe a little tired, but they did the job.||Breakfast and dinner were both very nice, and the team went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.||The pool area was peaceful and relaxing, though it could use a bit of TLC. The loungers were comfortable, but the cushions looked a bit worn and could have been cleaner.||Overall, I really liked the place. It had a calm, welcoming vibe that made the stay feel special.

Very nice and quaint property nestled among vineyards and orchards. Beautiful grounds with a pool and beautiful space. There are nice walking tracks among the vineyards and orchards. Rooms are average size. Very good breakfast. Would highly recommend this place if visiting Colchagua Valley.

This is the least welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. The only thing colder than the welcome from the front desk was the reception area itself (the guy was in an outdoor coat and a fleece). We were immediately advised that we probably wouldn’t get any sleep the second night as the hotel makes money by running party nights to 2am. Room also freezing - apparently they don’t turn the radiators on even though it is winter and seriously cold. Room in poor state of repair throughout. Having decided to cut our stay in half and leave asap (yes, really that bad), the manager offered tea and sympathy but nothing more. The team need training in hospitality and the hotel needs some major renovations. Awful and a real blight on our trip to Chile. Avoid.

This is such a tranquil and peaceful hotel to stay at. The views and surrounding area are perfect. The rooms have balcony areas and around the grounds there are plenty of other places to sit to enjoy the scenery, sunrise and sunset. The restaurant on site has great food and service, the view can be enjoyed whilst eating. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and the offer of booking other restaurants, horse riding or other activities was available. The wildlife was abundant when we visited in summertime. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable.

I am sorry to say, our experience here was different from many other visitors and I really could not recommend it. The setting is stunning and the grounds very attractive, but the pool was not treated correctly and had green slimy streaks in it. The sunbed cushions were unpleasantly stained. Our bathroom was poor, the shower unit had been replaced recently (& messily) but it was hard to regulate and both heads dripped at same time. Shower drain was wobbly and stuck up at an angle.|I needed an iron. The receptionist/manager said it was hotel policy not to provide an iron because some guests had burned the mattresses! How about an iron and an ironing board then? Or just a small separate ironing room nowhere near any mattresses?!!

I was part of a group of 60 people who came to Chile for a birthday party, and Terravina was our home base. The owner and staff did such a fabulous job!!! Despite the size of our group everything at Terravina was perfect. The meals they prepared for us were spectacular, the drinks they made were strong and good and they even brought in a traditional band one evening which was great fun. The owner also went out of her way to ensure my husband and I were accommodated for some work we had to do in a quiet room with wifi. The trip ended with a fabulous party the staff threw for us for New Year's Eve, complete with tons of balloons, NYE accessories, bountiful champagne and possibly the greatest cover band I've ever seen. If you need to throw a party in Chile, or are just looking for a great place in wine country to stay, I highly recommend Terravina!

This hotel sits on the Laura Hartwig winery property. It’s within walking distance to this winery as well as 4 other restaurants. The staff here are so nice and helpful. The hotel is pristine. Rooms are really lovely (FYI our mattress was pretty springy). The views from our balcony, the pool, and the proximity to all that the Colchagua Valley has to offer from this hotel are AMAZING! When we return to Chile, we will definitely return to this hotel.
