HOTEL THE CELESTINE TOKYO SHIBA

Just a bit meh to be honest. Strange seeing so many glowing reviews, however this hotel feels like a hotel half the price. Service was great. However, the rooms are tiny, barely enough room to open your suitcase. Moreover, the entire hotel feels dated. Shower-bathtubs, frustratingly slow wifi, and signs of wear throughout the hotel. Combine this with exorbitant pricing such as ¥1,000+ coffees at the lobby cafe, the entire experience feels like somewhere a lot cheaper and made us feel a bit ripped-off. Location is great and quiet though, if a bit far from major train stations and other amenities. Overall, it wasn't bad per se, it just felt like poor value for money and I would recommend searching around for more modern and fair-priced hotels.

I’ve been to 3 star hotels in Japan that were a lot nicer. Save your money. I would like to start off and say that this review is NOT reflective of the staff. I cannot fault the staff, they did everything to ensure our stay was comfortable. They were so friendly, kind and their service was top notch. This is not a 5 star establishment. The rooms are far too small and cramped for two people. If you have more than one suitcase you’re in trouble. The finishes of the room especially the bathroom are not 5 star quality. The shower curtain, the yellowing and dated bathroom, the black mould in the bathroom, towels that feel 20 years old and a broken extractor fan is not what I would expect from a 5 star establishment. There are barely any amenities, apart from a lounge and a barely there gym. The breakfast is poor too. Again, not reflective of the price. Furthermore, the location isn’t ideal if you plan to visit Tokyo fully, it’s around 30mins to get to each location. You’re better off staying somewhere more central. Also the breakfast was not great, save your money, go somewhere else.

I had a truly overwhelming experience with the exceptional support from the team at Hotel The Celestine Tokyo Shiba. After losing my luggage on a bus months ago, the hotel staff went above and beyond — even after checkout — by coordinating with multiple parties, communicating across languages, and helping arrange delivery of my belongings back to me overseas. Their kindness, patience, and professionalism turned a very stressful situation into an experience of genuine care. I cannot recommend their service highly enough — stellar hospitality that deserves 5 stars. Thank you so much!

Our stay at Hotel Celestine was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were super attentive and friendly and the hotel was lovely! Our room was spacious and immaculate and the beds were really comfy. I feel like the hotel was in a great location, it was fairly quick and easy to get to the shibuya crossing and memory lane, Tokyo tower was about a 20 minute walk away. I was sad to go. I absolutely would stay again! 🩷

The Celestine Shiba is modern elegant hotel and about a 15 - 20 subway ride from Ginza. Shiba is a quiet place. The hotel is immaculate. The staff are very competent and polite. It was easy to make a reservation directly with the hotel online since it is part of the Mitsui Garden Group, of which I am a member. I was able to modify my arrival by contacting the hotel via email. My Queen superior room was big enough for two people. There isn't a lot of space to store luggage in the room. The hotel does offer luggage storage for a fee. The breakfast buffet is excellent with western and Japanese food choices. The lobby restaurant also makes an excellent club sandwich. Google maps initially gave directions to take a different exit from the Shibakoen subway station. The A2 exit is closest to the hotel. Last year I stayed at the Celestine in Kyoto and this is why I chose to stay at their hotel in Chiba.

Great location located near Tokyo Tower! Some rooms even have a view of Mount Fuji if you’re lucky🤩Super comfortable room with everything you need, the hotel even has a lounge with free snacks and drinks every evening. Breakfast was really good too, especially recommend the curry rice!!Staff were all really friendly and helpful, and would provide information about transportation etc. Great stay!

The room was nice although smaller than what you'd expect from the Western hotels but it had everything I needed and the staff was very attentive The food and breakfast selections were very good. Although the rooms may have been a bit smaller they offer more items in case you forgot any than what you would see in North America hotels

Extremely disappointed with the Celestine Hotel Shiba Let me start by saying that this hotel should not be awarded 5 stars, 3 stars at maximum. I consider that my wife and I are quite knowledgable when it comes to Celestine hotels, by having stayed at Celestine Gion in Kyoto (5 nights) and Celestine Shiba in Tokyo (currently on 6 nights). Even though they’re from the same brand, these hotels shouldn’t be awarded the same stars. We fell in love with Celestine Gion at the very first moment. Very attentive and helpful staff, state of the art facilities and every guest’s need fulfilled. On the other hand, Celestine Shiba lacks very much on these matters. Firstly, we arrived at the hotel after a long journey at 9pm, went to check-in counter and asked we could have a quick bite somewhere in the hotel, getting no for an answer (last order by 9pm, close by 10pm). Then the receptionist couldn’t tell us a single place to have dinner nearby. Moving the room, we expected a small room similar to New York’s standard, but we were amazed by how small the room is, you cannot even open big luggage. Lastly, on the bathroom, this is an outdated bathroom, definitely not 5 star standard.

Beautiful hotel. Really small intimate rooms. Our suit cases take too much space when opening them up so we had to get creative. Late window, plenty of light. Key card for the room controls the lights. No keycard, no lights. The staff were friendly and speak a good amount of English. Complimentary breakfast served. Definitely recommend.

Booked a corner room for a few nights. This room had plenty of space, comfy bed, and plenty of windows that let natural light come in. The carpet looks worn, but everything was clean and up to standards. Staff were very friendly, but not as helpful as other hotels that we stayed in. We ate at the breakfast buffet our last morning there. Not as good as other breakfast buffets at other hotels. Price was a bit steep compared to other comparable hotels. Overall all, decent hotel to stay in.

A TOUCH OF CLASS If you want to close out your vacation in the far east on a high note, consider this stunning 4-star hotel in Minato City. After a wondrous (but exhausting) two weeks in Japan, my fiancée and I had finally reached the end of our trip. Over that time, we slept in 7 different places including a hotel with a robot concierge and a traditional Japanese 'ryokan'. We stayed here for a single night on 7/30/19, seeking to rest up for the long journey back stateside. Hotel Celestine is located in the Shiba area of Tokyo, only 1km away from the famous Tokyo Tower. It's an upscale hotel aimed at business travelers with a price tag of roughly $155/night (not exorbitant but certainly not cheap like the $50/night place we stayed at in Hiroshima). The lobby was absolutely pristine. Check-in was easy breezy. Staff were friendly and offered to hold our bags when we arrived early. We spent some time relaxing in the interim, which felt great after carrying luggage in weather that reached 109°F. I enjoyed a refreshing melon cream soda (1500¥) that came with complimentary sweet & salty snacks. Once in our room upstairs, I admired the gorgeous east-facing view that looked out towards Tokyo Bay. It was beautiful during the day and even prettier at night. Each room had a self-service bar with tiny bottles of gin, tequila, and whiskey; I paid something like 600¥ for a bag of cheese puffs (which is totally insane) but I was hungry and felt like treating myself. The commode was clean and stocked to the hilt with toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bars of soap, and other high end amenities.....many of which we stuffed in our suitcases to bring home. The toilet had all the buttons and whiz-bang gadgets we'd come to expect from Japan, plus the bed was ultra comfy. * TL;DR * At first glance it would seem like Hotel Celestine falls into splurging territory, but $150 is actually very reasonable for the quality of stay (you'd pay the same -- or more -- at similar 4-star places like The Drake or InterContinental Mag Mile in downtown Chicago). It's definitely one of the nicer hotels we've experienced in recent years. For those that refuse to sleep in a tube or on a floor mat (sorry, 'tatami') yet don't want to break the bank on lodgings, look no further. Hotel Celestine is affordable luxury at its finest.

I am enjoying my stay here as I am loving Japan!! They have friendly staff and good breakfast! I have everything I need here from toothpaste and shower caps. They maintain your room nice and clean. If you have to stay in during a rainy day it's a great place to do so. Great hotel in shiba. Train station is near by and so is the gorgeous Tokyo tower. Great pick kudos to my bf.

It's a little far but a walk away from the Toei subway. Right under the NEC building next door you will find your way into the Mita station. The hotel itself is beautiful. It's clean and affordable. Love that they provide you with pajamas and slippers and tons of toiletries. Only thing you need to get is toothpaste. The folks that work here all very kind and helpful. As a matter of fact, most people in Japan are very kind and helpful. There are restaurants near the hotel and a 7-11 conveniently located downstairs around the corner.

The hotel is modern and very clean, with a bit of a Western touch. The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes walk to the Mita station. About ten minutes walk is a major road with lots of shopping. Along small streets are mom and pop shops. The staff is exceptionally polite and friendly, as you expect in Japan. Our room is not large by US standards, but it is perfectly suitable for two people to stay comfortably. The bed is soft. Free Wi-Fi. Bathroom is clean and modern. Heated toilet seats! Central A/C. We have a garden view room and it is beautiful. The hotel is quiet. They offer a direct bus to Narita airport for about 3000 yen which costs a lot more than the subway but is way more convenient. You need to make a reservation in advance. Overall, the staff is exceptionally helpful. We are very happy with our choice to stay here.

This is a very nice hotel which often has excellent rates. I normally stay in big international chain hotels, but they were pretty expensive for a 5 day sightseeing trip in late August. I used Amex travel to find some high-rated alternatives at about half the price, and fortunately found the Celestine. Like some other hotels in Tokyo, it is a few floors above an office building -- 14-17th floors in this case, with a separate entrance. Interestingly, the building has an atrium open to the sky on these floors, with a lounge which seemed like a separate house set in an outdoor patio area on the 14th floor. This gave them two sets of rooms with views -- either outward facing or courtyard facing. I had one of the smaller rooms with an interior view, and it was nice. Like Japanese hotels generally, there was a truly comprehensive and amazing set of toiletries in the bathroom. Housekeeping was the best of any hotel I've ever visited (and I've probably been in 400 hotels worldwide, over 2000 nights, in the past 20 years) As is standard for Japan, great electronic washlet toilets (I've seen these in some offices around the world, too). Location is very convenient for HND airport, near Mita and other subway stations, and close to Shinagawa (long-distance shinkansen). The immediate area has NEC's offices and Keio university, with some small stores, restaurants, etc., but I would consider this a fairly quiet neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again, especially for trips in/out of HND or Shinagawa.

Stayed here a while ago. Very nice hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. They have a very nice Guest Lounge with an outdoor patio for you to rest in. Very quiet and peaceful. They ever permitted us back into the Guest Lounge after we had checked out as our flight was not until much later. Quiet location. Took me a while to figure out nice area just to the south with restaurants. Close to Mita station.

I never write bad reviews but Hotel Celestine in Tokyo Shiba made me feel unworthy and low class. Horrible Hotel! Mind you, We are staying at the hotel and wanted to have breakfast downstairs in the public area like everyone else aka the locals(business people that aren't even staying with the hotel) The reception girl between 1:15-1:30 pm April 16 2019 did not allow us to sit in the main eating area with the locals because we are foreigners. She redirected us to another restaurant. I insisted we are with the hotel but she kept saying " no go next door". Never Have I EVER felt unwanted at a hotel IM PAYING! Never staying at this hotel again. Such Discrimination and unprofessionalism!!!! If you are staying in the area stay away from this hotel. Can not believe it! Sickening!

Great hotel that may become my Tokyo regular. It is very central yet very quiet. 30 minutes by train from Haneda airport or 20 minutes by taxi. It is less than 10 minutes walk from the Mita station of the Toei subway and a couple more from the Tamachi station (JR Yamanote and Keihintohoku). Shinagawa station (Shinkansen) is also nearby. The room I booked was fairly big by Japanese standards even though I thought that the furniture could use an upgrade as it looks oldish. The service from the staff is great in typical Japanese fashion and I loved the free lounge/library on the 4th floor.

The Celestine Hotel is located centrally in Minato, yet in a peaceful location in the heart of the city. One of the my favorite things about the hotel was the location. The walk is about 6-7 blocks to the nearest Subway or JR station keeping you reasonably close but in a quieter setting. The hotel actual occupies the upper floors of a primarily office complex with a lobby on the ground floor and rooms on levels 14-17. There's a couple of restaurants within the building plus a hotel lounge on level 14. Our room was on the 17th level and we had requested a nice view which we received. We had a cozy double room facing the city skyline. Service is polite but reserved at this hotel. I have no complaints but don't expect proactive or extra-attentive staff. If you want a quiet stay with service only when needed, the Celestine is a good option. The rooms are small, but that's expected for a city like Tokyo. The bathroom has a good shower stocked with quality, full-size toiletries which I appreciate. I kind of feel that travel size toiletries can be wasteful. Linens are comfy and they even provide pajamas, even if they were a bit roomy on me. The room didn't have an iron but I believe they provided one on request. Wi-Fi was exceptional without any problems. Overall, our stay at the Celestine Hotel was pleasant and easy. The location worked well and the room provided a good place to good some good sleep during our trip.

We chose this hotel for our first four days in Tokyo and I think we got really lucky. After spending two more nights near by Shibuya Crossing I can compare at least two different districts to be in. Celestine hotel is perfect for the tourists. Located near by Tokyo tower, at first the hotel may seem a little bit isolated from the city action. In reality it is close to a lot of restaurants, some of which turned to be pretty amazing, just walk few blocks away or follow the recommendations of the little map of the area you can find in the lobby. The hotel is near by three metro lines, Shibakoen station of Mita line is just a block away from it and also it is relatively close to Tsukiji market (you still need to use a taxi to get there early in the morning). The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The personnel in the hotel is amazing, extremely helpful and of course over polite. The hotel has nice coffee shop at the lobby where you can grab a beer and a very decent bite if the jet lag doesn't allow you to explore the area.

No frills but clean, comfortable hotel with rooms much larger than the average in Tokyo. Rooms aren't too dated and the service is good. Not particularly cheap but good value.

Really nice hotel and pretty sweet location. I would recommend this hotel to all foreigners because they set the standard high here. The rooms are cleaned really good, have big beds and big tubs! Excellent service, staff fluent in English and they catered our group to almost anything we asked.
